My POF profile is decent enough yet I've been called a freak by people that dont' even know me - and not freak as in circus freak folks 
How do you attract quality men without coming across as either a school marm or a freak?
I'm not very savvy at this dating game and really can't stand it to begin with - any tips or advice?  | |

Your profile is fine. It reflects who you are and that is exactly what you should be trying to convey. Ignore the bozos who feel compelled to insult you. | |

Unless this is a " look at me" thread.
Unlike some people, who i will not mention, i have no need for attention as i get sufficient attention from my children who love me beyond measure. this question was asked because i DO get offended by people who off the bat make assumptions about me and i am looking to see WHAT exactly it is about my profile that projects such said qualities that would classify me as a "freak" in their eyes.

Get a grip and get it straight, honey, nobody pays my way. So keep your green eyed monster to yourself. If you can't handle someone asking a question on here without getting envious of others, then maybe you should not be out in the real or virtual world. Some women, such as myself, work hard, pay their own way WITHOUT child support, support their own kids and have a house, car, job, nice clothes, etc - all WITHOUT a man. If that burns your cookies, so be it, but don't hate on a woman that you should be lauding for having made her OWN way. I definitely don't have on YOU. | |

Maybe it's not such a bad thing? A lot of men want a "lady in the streets and a freak in the sheets"!

Posted: 5/16/2008 9:04:18 AM | I take the same view as SwampHunter. It's not necessarily a bad thing. They may be complimenting you, albeit with a poorly chosen word or, at the very least, a word that is poorly defined.
It's possible, when they refer to you as a freak they are pleasantly surprised as you are not a strait-laced, standard issue, suburban, soccer mom, i.e. you don't conform to the image they have traditionally come to expect of a mother.

She later called me a "wierdo" and said that I was freakishly weird. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! There are quite a few mean people in this world. Life in general is mean and people tend to treat those of us who are on the outside looking in- be you looking for Love, a Job, or trying to beg permission to do something- quite badly.

I wanted to be free to express myself, but began to notice that people treated me better, and I got more of what I wanted, if I dressed more June Cleaver-ish. I made a game out of it, and would vacuum in my shirt-dress, heels & pearls. A new kick-as it were. The point is you dress for the situation. I don't allow my catering help to have piercings, as people percieve it as unsanitary. I never did the tat-pierce thing cuz I don't like permanent damage. 30 years from now, I don't want to see something that bores me-the same every dang day. But then, I am called a freak alot now that I go to church-a Jesus Freak. You can't win. | |

I think this is the purpose of this thread...attention...despite the protest by the OP...what in her profile even vaguely indicates that she would be considered a freak....in fact it is quite boring...
If you get what you need from your wonderful children...why are you posting this

lol...trust me, you're not all that freaky, at least not what I can see in the profile. I've been told I'm much much worse than that, in addition to needing to seek professional mental help. And what you do is completely and utterly ignore them. I refuse to be allow the judgments of holier-than-thou prompous idiots affect me in the slightest. | |
