| Ex's hairy arm in photo Posted: 5/16/2008 12:07:10 PM | I searched for a forum for this, but couldn't find one.
I'm not ranting, more like suggesting. How hard is it to take a photo of yourself? Hundreds do it every day on this site. Yet I see so many with a hairy arm around them. It takes more effort to photoshop the person out.

| Ex's hairy arm in photo Posted: 5/16/2008 3:22:31 PM | | People suck at taking photos around here. I am no photo buff, but seriously kids, some effort is all that is needed. | |

| Ex's hairy arm in photo Posted: 5/16/2008 5:09:29 PM | | I take my own pictures. That's pretty easy for about anyone to do... I don't know why anyone would look boring when they take their own pictures. It's different when it's a mile away shot that is clearly them drinking in every picture or something. | |

| Ex's hairy arm in photo Posted: 5/16/2008 6:41:50 PM | | Perhaps it's a conjoined twin, love the hairy arm or don't, I'd say with global warming, it's a big red flag. | |

| Ex's hairy arm in photo Posted: 5/16/2008 7:26:55 PM | Thanks for the post. I immediate photoshoped my ex's hairy arm out of my photos afterwards. Last time I date a girl from Uzbekistan. sheesh. | |

| Ex's hairy arm in photo Posted: 5/16/2008 7:37:45 PM | ^^^ that's awesome... not sure if animal hairy arms are the same, but perhaps I should update mine as well | |

| Ex's hairy arm in photo Posted: 5/16/2008 9:36:02 PM | I don't believe people who say they took their own picture. Nobody is that fast.
I would want to see the hairy arm they kept. It would warn me off if they have body parts as souvenirs.

My question would be, why do you sweat such things? I mean really...

| Ex's hairy arm in photo Posted: 5/16/2008 11:44:23 PM | There are similar posts to this but mainly to do with quality of the photos, to which i have also added my $0.02. IMO, the profile shot is the main selling point of anyone's profile besides their description of themselves. Posting a profile here is like selling a car in the classifieds, and that is presentation is key.
On the other side of the coin though, I understand that not everyone has a digital camera and for a lot of people its not a priority or consideration. Other options may be pics from a webcam or from a mobile phone but then there's the argument of quality of the pic...

| Ex's hairy arm in photo Posted: 5/17/2008 12:14:48 AM | Oh I just had to pitch in and complain about this (what a woman eh?) I'm so annoyed at hearing all the excuses (and they range in absurdity) of why men don't have a current picture of their face, their body, and some picture of WHO THEY ARE, doing something that makes them smile Technology today makes it a no brainer. So am I such a nancypants hardass if I kindly encourage a guy who writes (but has no pics that show who he IS) to GET pictures???? It's crazy. I've got mine up, so what's possibly in the mind of men who don't think they need current pics? (Women do this too, I know...but I don't date women) :) Pet Peeve of mine, this whole picture thing. When a guy says he doesn't have any/can't get any, I explain how it's possible. Then they disappear. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT? I mean honestly, we look like we look. End of story!
Ok. rant over. Just had to get that outta my system :) Because it keeps happening and it's a "dealbreaker" when you consider how simple it is for a buddy to snap you on your cell, email the pic and post it. Voila!!! Is that really so hard or am I a hardass about this very basic part of online meeting? Seems obvious to me, but then I'm just me.
Thoughts? | |

| Ex's hairy arm in photo Posted: 5/17/2008 12:17:24 AM | | Why does everyone assume that the person's arm is their ex???? Don't you think it could be a relative, friend etc and they don't want to exploit their pic. Sometimes it just happens to be a good, natural picture of yourself but happens to have someone else in the pic. The pics you actually "pose" for, come out the worst sometimes. | |

I don't believe people who say they took their own picture. Nobody is that fast.
Pointing the camera at you and clicking the button takes some serious skill to pull off. Just keep trying, I'm sure you'll get it eventually.

| Ex's hairy arm in photo Posted: 5/17/2008 8:06:03 AM | I don't believe people who say they took their own picture. Nobody is that fast. Seeing as how most digital cameras/webcams come equipped with a self-timer, it's not difficult to set the camera on a tripod/surface and quickly dart in front of the lens within 10 seconds. | |

Seeing as how most digital cameras/webcams come equipped with a self-timer, it's not difficult to set the camera on a tripod/surface and quickly dart in front of the lens within 10 seconds. Set the camera on an elevated surface. You can use various small items to prop it up if you lack a tripod. I like to sit on a chair so that there's something to use to frame the shot. For one of my pics, I attached a sheet of colored paper to the wall, set the timer, then stood in front of it. If all else fails, go to a public place and ask a waitperson to push the button for you. A tight head shot is best for the main profile shot. If you take a look at the "who's viewed me" line-up, notice that cropped faces show up well. Ones that include large backdrops or vehicles are less spectacular. I like profiles that include a variety of pics, rather than several shots from the same webcam all within the same 20 minutes. | Ex's hairy arm in photo Posted: 5/20/2008 7:23:28 PM | I just noticed there's an arm (probably a hairy one, though it's covered) in my pic. I'm my own worst nightmare!

| Ex's hairy arm in photo Posted: 5/20/2008 8:05:24 PM | | Ever think maybe they just really like that picture to represent themself? Besides how do you know it's not a brother or a friend? | |

| Ex's hairy arm in photo Posted: 5/20/2008 8:53:05 PM | i don't have many photos of me alone. friends and family always seem to be lurking around and horning in on the photo sessions.
the spare ear in one of my photos belongs to a friend, not a date. the extra arm in one photo (hairiness covered by a letter jacket) belongs to my teenage son/football player/rock star. i don't want my son pictured here and i crop the owners of the other body parts as a courtesy to them. (i would ask their permission before posting a close up photo of them) i have a group photo with other people but it is at a distance and is already posted on the net elsewhere, so i didn't feel compelled to crop.
BONUS: easy tips for self photography.... a. set the handy timer and put the camera down . scurry to your position b. point the camera toward your face, hold it out, push the button

| Ex's hairy arm in photo Posted: 5/20/2008 11:24:59 PM | I love the pics of the woman with 6 of her friends. If I guess who she is do I win a free date? I get the dogs, the cats, the kids, the car, oh and then the one where she's 3 miles down the road looking pissed. Can I just get a nice, up close n personal one where you are smiling with just maybe a slight touch of make up and a smile?
Am I asking too much here?

| Ex's hairy arm in photo Posted: 5/21/2008 6:59:36 AM | | I love the ones taken from 100 feet away with a wideangle lens. Kind of like "where's waldo"... Those are my favorites! | |

| Ex's hairy arm in photo Posted: 5/21/2008 9:15:07 AM | Oh my lord, they have a photo with another guys arm in it, I hope they are going to confessional as they speak.
Look, I understand the whole technological standpoint that everyone should have a digital camera by now and be able to take their own pictures and even be able to crop stuff like an ex's face out. First of all, not everyone does though. Also, some of my best pictures are with my ex. Does that mean I need to burn them all? I don't put them up here but if I did I would crop them out somewhat but still whats the problem, are intimidated by the fact she has a history with at least one other guy? Do you look at her as tainted goods or something.
Besides I'm sure she has had other men that have put their arm around her other than an ex-boyfriend. Dig through any of my pictures an I'm sure to find dozens with my arm around a friend, a friends girlfriend, a relative, hell even my mother. Do those people have to automatically crop me out of their photos to be dateable?
