since there is so much bashing going on in reguards to spelling in these threads i thought this might be a good insite for the spelling natzi's to get an insight into what some people actualy live with.

this is in no means posted as a self pitty thread or any of the other reasions people seem to find cause to deleate. and for the PTP (Phantom Thread Puller) go blow your trumpet some where else.

I have Dyslexia
Individuals with dyslexia:

May be bright, intelligent and articulate, however their reading, writing and spelling level is below their average age group.

Have the same intelligence range as people without dyslexia.

May have poor academic achievement due to their problems with reading and writing.

May have good oral language abilities but will perform much more poorly on similar written-language tests.

Because dyslexia primarily affects reading while sparing other intellectual abilities, affected individuals might be categorised as not "behind enough" or "bad enough" to receive additional help in a school setting.

Might feel unintelligent and have poor self-esteem, and might be easily frustrated and emotional about school reading or testing.

Might try to hide their reading weaknesses with ingenious compensatory "strategies".

Might learn best through hands-on experience, demonstrations, experimentation, observation, and visual aids.

Can show talents in other areas such as art, drama, music, sports, mechanics, story-telling, sales, business, designing, building, or engineering.

Have related problems with attention in a school setting; for instance they might seem to "zone out" or daydream often; get lost easily or lose track of time; and have difficulty sustaining attention.

from what im reading , you have a very mild case of it , i wouldnt be too concerned. If you have firefox ( as opposed to internet explorer ) it actually has a spell check ( although some of it is american words Eg: colour ( aust ) and color ( U.S ). So there is only minor differences..
One thing that does get me is wigga talk , using sms style words 2 get da point across , ya no wat i meen? dis is da bom an i got 2 fawk it in da joint wiggy snizzle my finizzle << thats sh1ts just plain annoying..

Dyslexics of the world UNTIE!

this is in no means posted as a self pitty thread

Any post with this statement written in it, has been, in my experiance, 95% exactly that or some other type of attention seeking thread. You have dyslexia, and have made general points about what a person with dyslexia may have...where's the point? Where's the question? Where's the reasoning behind this post other than to point out you have dyslexia (attention seeking/self pity thread)?

Apparently this is not true for those rude obnoxious nothing better to do people who like to publicly humiliate others so they feel good by teasing and humiliating.

Well I also think I over did it in the sentence above because people who pick on others spelling may not realise what they are doing, maybe they fall under some particular disorder too......so my apology to feel the way I did in the sentence above.

Now everyone lets post happily ever after.....but no nice fairytale posting can go without the villain

I think there is a bit of a misunderstanding here....I just checked poster 7's profile and he is actually Canadian . he doesn't know the History of the spelling nazi here ..Therefore Mr poster 7, the reason for this thread is the nazi and not OP...

The last four posts from our Ontario visitor (History) suggest he's more interested in deleting threads than spelling so maybe he's the PTP?
It isn't safe to our assume the PTP is a local.

Bloke,
I think you brought up your dyslexia previously and it's good to know. Others have done it too. Actually I don't have any problem reading your stuff.

Debnco,
Don't worry too much about the 95% thing. Everyone knows that 72% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

I have a spell checker built in to my internet web browser, firefox! it costs nothing is open source and is much safer than IE . has half as much pop ups and crazy stuff. its not perfect nothing is.

there is also a spell checker add on for internet explorer, but I beleive its similar to MS word, with a little window that shows you the mistakes.

in the firefox web browser it just underlines the incorrectly spelled word in red and thats that. right click the underlined word and it gives you a list of possible outcomes.

I just wish one day the Firefox web browser would stop me from posting when i am drunk

.....people with their high almighty rantings on Spelling who really gives a flying f*ck anyway I sure as hell don't.

I don't much care for people with their low brow rantings about aerial copulation.
Or people who post threads relating to the same subject over and over without bothering to do a basic thread search.
Or people who continually whine about having a 'disability' but don't seem interested in doing anything about it.

But I don't keep starting threads complaining about it.

...the reason for this thread is the nazi and not OP...

Huh? ...ummm.... I think you've got it backward (no pun intended), the OP started the thread.
So.... he is the 'reason' this thread exists, again.
Perhaps the OP is the spelling nazi?

Then I wonder how many percent of the 72% are made up on the spot??

There's nothing wrong with the spelling ^^^ but I don't understand what you mean Goddess.
Perhaps you, or anyone else, could explain it for me?

lol

actually LC I don't see you starting many threads at all these days, just complaining about other peoples' and remember, I agree with you that this thread is SO old, just noting that you've been rather quiet lately lol

You are right ronda, as you often are....
It's weird, but threads I start usually get deleted sooner or later while done-to-death threads, like this one, survive. Geez, how many of these has he started?
I'm amazed it's still here!

But, staying on topic.... Did you hear about the dyslexic insomniac who stayed awake all night wondering if there really is a dog?

lol just start a shitfight and call each other names seems to work.... why thank you LC but it just goes to show how um narrow minded is the nicest way I can put it, most people are, most of us are scared of what we don't understand, apparently including intelligent discussions, and get all defensive. Then there's just the attention seekers, which is why I tried to ignore this thread in the first place, what can I say, I'm bored

To the OP, I don't find this an attention seeking thread. I have found it to be an awareness thread.

The simple fact that you have dyslexia has no bearing on the fact that it is self pity. On the contrary, if a person who does not have dyslexia started a thread about it, they would have been mocked for making fun of people with dyslexia, by a person like me.

One of the rudest things I have come across on these forums, as well in society, is people's tolerance to bad spelling. Or should that be, intolerance.

Truly intelligent people would never ridicule someone because of their short comings in life.

My thumb goes up to you, OP, because you had the courage, and the sensibility to advise us all of not only yours, but others short comings in life.

I think anything, if repeated often enough, becomes attention seeking, like if I kept bringing up over and over in every thread that I have tattoos, someone else that they're an undertaker, has multiple personalities, are a lyingcheat etc lol it's just going over the same old ground which wasn't all that interesting the first time. Pretty much everyone has already expressed one (or several) comment on this subject and at the end of the day if any of us was concerned about our spelling we would use spellcheck, but for some reason some of us choose not to, again, who cares? I they say something interesting I'll reply, if not I have the option to ignore

Poster 24, I see what you mean. If it is in every thread made from the OP and every post made by the OP, then yes, I do agree with you. It can become boring. Especially if it is something that can be mentioned in the profiles.

Sorry to cause any confusion.

Okay I am here to throw another opinion

if repeated often enough, becomes attention seeking,

YES true at times but in my absolutely positively humble opinion...when some people feel others haven’t understood or heard them they will keep going on and on about the matter until they feel they have been understood.

and re message 23:

Truly intelligent people would never ridicule someone because of their short comings in life.

Absloutly correct....an inteligent person knows better.
