| WILL THE NEW REGS NEXT YEAR MEAN A CLASSIC SEASON IN F1? Posted: 5/17/2008 2:01:08 PM | I will probably miss a few things out here . . . .
KERS system (A Kinetic Energy storage system that takes heat from the brakes and stores them to give an 80mph boost which can be used at lest once a lap, depending on how it is set up)
SLICK TYRES
NEW AERO PACKAGE (Banning of the silly flicks and stuff)
CAPPING OF BUDGETS (Which will be lower each season til 2012 target)
Erm... know there is more but it isn't coming to me at the mo.....

Yeh, the corporate side of it is off putting, and old nicky boy, head of honda at f1 is saying privateers should stay away and only manufacturers should be in f1. What a load of twaddle.

They are to cap budgets from next year. Hopefully this will encourage privateers, or the like, back into the sport. REAL people in the sport? Is that not a bugone era in this corporate age? Hope not.

| WILL THE NEW REGS NEXT YEAR MEAN A CLASSIC SEASON IN F1? Posted: 5/30/2008 12:59:32 PM | Toyota really dropped the ball when they switched from being one of the best in the WRC to a mobile chicane in F1. I worshipped Ove in his day, but his day had gone and they should have left him playing in the mud with the rally boys.
KERS was discussed in '99 I seem to remember so it's taken its time to make it into the yellow book. Personally it seems to much of a novelty. If the cars could get within a length or two of the car in front then they'd not need such gimmicks - hopefully the new aero changes will help with this.
Capping budgets will do nothing other than move the money elsewhere. It will still be spent, they'll just hide it better.

The KERS thing has cost them money, and here they are talking of capping. So what you said has started already.
Ove. I remember him when he started in F1 but hadn't heard of him before. He seemed to be pulling his hair out with the committee-run Toyota team. Then they gave him the boot.
The cars are out-growing the tracks. If they were slowed down an LITTLE (laugh of you like!) then at least there might be some overtaking on the straights.
I cannot stand those half mile run-off areas. Crazy. If they make a mistake. They are out. But thats the manufacturers doing.

The trouble with growing older is all your childhood heroes die :(
