Our event this time was small but mighty - many of the usual faces and several new faces attended. I can't tell you how much we put into these events. The owners of the establishments go out on a limb for us by investing their own money for food and beverage to bring us in. that's why the sign up is so important and the numbers fell short.

However, a wonderful time was had by all those who attended - chime in everyone

Well, guys - I was going to put words under all the pictures, but by the time it was taking so long to upload them, one slightly under the influence, very sleepy southern belle of the ball was all done squinting to see who was in the thumbnails.

I'd like to thank Dubs for assisting with the picture taking. I'd also like to thank Sully for having us for another event, and Cory for listening to our requests and adding in some sexy slow dance music.

Matilda, Jacobi's is always mobbed, which is why the numbers for their parties appear to be so much greater than they actually are. Their regular business is so huge that it is hard to tell the fish from our pond from their own clientele unless you know them. A whole group of the fish also migrated to the Shadow afterward, which was also mobbed.

I'm still looking into an outdoor event for the summer if I don't retire from hosting events by that time. This is supposed to be fun, not a competition for who can have the largest events or the most events.

have a wonderful Sunday and let us hear your thoughts

I think a lot is due to the fact that its May and with graduations, communions and weddings popping up this time of year, people are really busy.

I am researching other venues - and I am just stating my point of view, as all of you so often do. I have had successful events at Quote. We are just short of being invited to seek another venue because last night after paying extra staff, the DJ and the food, they barely broke even.

I try to leave politics out of this thing - I do this for FREE on my OWN time. I don't have a ready made venue like in Lackawanna that already has a huge club and DJ working. I am continuing to scout north central - the fish will come or they won't. I do the best I can with what there is.

Merry Christmas

eckie- my intentions was not to be offensive about quotes. from my observation of the group of folks that typically attend the jacobis party , they are in the middle aged bracket. when i went dowtown a hand full of times about five years ago it was mostly a younger crowd, pain to park, costly to park, costly to get in to places, costly to purchase drinks, and then it was quite a haul to drive home. the stigma of all that just isnt appealing to a group that is noncollege aged. i know there are older people that go now and then but it really isnt an attraction to go down there for most our age group.

if you want to market a pof party you really have to target the group that typically goes. bonnie tried jacobis on a whim and it was her first time. i showed up cause she didnt know how it would turn out and so i went to be her bud and show support. i was wowed by how it turned out. the group of people at pof are great folks. jacobis happened to appeal to the crowd that was there by playing music from 'our day' and offered pizza and wings with a free drink which was a nice ammenity. i feel very comfortable there and go every month because of that.

i just think that location and age group are two very important things to consider when you have a party like that. its probably the reason why the pof party ends around 11p at jacobis because a young crowd with their type of music starts coming up and its not attractive to the pof group thats there. and i say all of this as the typical . i know there are exceptions.

but also keep this in mind; i also heard from several people that they feel like the same people are at all the parties. if they arent getting any luck at one party what makes them think they will get lucky at another one where theres a same crowd? im not looking so i go just for the fun. even with that i always meet someone new at one of them parties to talk to and laugh with. but then again-- im not looking. having one or two a month is more than enough if you are getting the same crowd. if you want age
diversity then you have to be creative and come up with an idea that will attract what you want.

so please no knocks on quotes. they were really kind to open their doors and extend a great courtesy to the pof people. it just didnt work because its the wrong crowd is all. if they had a singles party that was targeted to the younger generation it probably wouldve been crowded. from my observation there are more pof'ers that are 30s-50s than any other age group

Matilda and Angel......my comments to were not to be offensive towards you or anyone I know you put alot into putting these parties together and its well appreicated....all I'm trying to say is alot of the people I've talked to since the first quote party DON'T like it there....not because of the young crowd or the parking .....its mainly the bar and how everyone got conned from attending the first party....
MOST of the people just plain and simple DON'T like it there...

Greeting Fellow Fishee,

I would like to thank Quotes and Angel for putting on another great event. Given the higher gas prices and food expenses these day, people aren't willing to drive as far as they was in the past, so by moving these social gathering around to different location is a real benefit for fishee living in different area's. Be it southtown, downtown, niagara region.

I believe many of you are viewing these venue, as a popularity contest. You really have to put on another set of glasses, to see what's really going on here. Many of the members and attentee, have found matches for there lives, and many have gone on numerous dates, and many have found awesome friends to hang with. So the lost rate is really high, which is a good thing.

Many come back, just to socialize, and many are looking to meet new people, but the options are there. So all you peepers and newbie, come join our next venue at Cruiser in Niagara Falls, New York. May 31, 2008. All it take is one person who can change your life.

Thanks Dubs & Matilda for putting this in perspective...I for one host these parties for one reason..to meet new people...I have never viewed it as a competition....(not my style) and just like all the new friends I have met!

Just a side note.... Jacobis also has to hire extra staff....and a DJ to spin tunes earlier than the usual 11pm time slot...When I began planning these ..and told Karen (the owner) to expect over 200 POF members she didnt think it would actually happen(as she explained to me later...thru experiuence in planning other events)
I for one love hosting these........and wont stop.......as long as everyone wants to continue to attend!!!!!

Ill be hosting the next party in Niagara Falls @ Cruisers on the 31st...

hope to see everyone there....

Bonnie

It seems if we're trying to promote more people, and more age groups to attend these events, we should consider how our comments may be perceived by others. Regarding the pretty young blonde in the white jacket in the photo next to me, she didn't request her photo be taken next to an old guy, but was cordial enough to agree to be in photos as they were taken. You know, if we're trying to encourage new people to come out, they may not show because they might not want to be subject of some of the conversation that goes on here ... just my perception!

My friend Dan was not commenting on you being old enough to be her father. He was commenting on Dave ..(the one that "asked about the blonde") You seem like you are awful guilty for something that wasn't even directed at you!! LOL
And there was nothing rude meant by the comment. My gosh ..too many people take things to personal. ...Lighten up
