| Tuesday Night Pub Stumpers -Starting May 20!!!!
Posted: 5/19/2008 4:41:32 PM | Hey, It's that time again....the start of a new session of Tuesday Night Pub Stumpers at the Elephant and Castle downtown. Every Tuesday, starting at 8:00 pm the fun begins but we usually get there around 7:00 pm to chat and perhaps have something to eat.
A few of the regulars are not coming back this session, for various reasons, so we are in recruitment mode for at least 2 new players so....
1. If you are looking for a challenge (questions are not easy )....we want you!
2. If you are able to recognize song titles and artists by listening to a snippet
of music...we need you!!
3. If sports is your life....we absolutely want/need you!!!
So if you are up to meeting new people and having a couple of hours of fun, come by and just ask for the POF Allstars table. We'll we looking for you! | |

Is it general knowledge type of stuff, or more stupid useless facts that have been swimming around my head for years? I'm fairly decent at music(enough to piss friends off).

Posted: 5/21/2008 10:17:39 PM | Last night was a lot of fun! I missed you guys…er, I mean girls…. yes it was all girls last night….what more incentive do you guys need? ???
Well, we didn’t place high but that’s okay…we never do but if we got more people out, maybe we could actually win a plate of nachos! Yes, nachos are the prize for answering the most questions correctly.
Now for those of a curious mind, the game goes like this …..each team has their own table …..a ‘host’ asks the questions or play s the music snippets and teams write down the answers in a booklet. (We are very cooperative in our approach to coming up with a consensus on an answer as we recognize that we all have our strengths and our weaknesses). Half way through the questions, the host picks up our booklet and gives us another team’s booklet to correct (shessh, just like being in school). Have a 10 minute break and then we continue on for another round. The questions are diverse and range from the animal kingdom to Greek mythology to recognizing blurry pictures of people. And for those who are really curious, here is a small sampling of questions from last night. See if you can answer them.
1. Which one of these is a bird? A treeshrew, a curlew, a skink or a limpet.
2. What is the name of the country that belongs to Italy but lies entirely externally from Italy’s borders?
3. In the comic book world, who is Forsyth Dickenson Jones III?

Don't be discouraged....the first few times I attended, I could barely come up with an answer...well, a correct answer that is. But I had so much fun that I kept going back . I'm also not a quitter, so I stuck with it and guess what??? I got better! I even started surprising myself, especially when I could answer an obscure question correctly! I don't know how I do it, but they say everything we see, read or hear is stored away (archived, if you will) in our brain's filing/storage units and stays there until you need to retrieve it. So, I guess what I'm saying is take a chance and come out to play....you have nothing to lose!
BTW, the questions I posted were kinda hard but there are lots of lighter, fluffier questions. | |

Deano has been playing in the Winnipeg Music scene for a number of years and has put together a great band for dancing music so you should try and attend this event

Yes, it is a trivia game and if you're up for it, we welcome all players. In fact, Zamrod came out tonight and I think he had a good time. So if you are game, the trivia starts at 8:00 at the Elephant and Castle kiddy corner to City Place. But don't come out next Tuesday, as it is Canada Day and it will not be on. It resumes on Tuesday, July 8! Hope you can make it out.

If you DO plan on coming out, let one of us know beforehand so we can make sure you get a seat. They've moved the trivia folk back into the lounge area and seating is once again at premium.
Next trivia night is Tuesday July 8 @ 8pm, Elephant & Castle.
