Okay... so I've been having this problem for a few days now, finally decided I need some help.
I have been trying to update my email address for my account because my current email address has changed. I go to the Account page where I can edit the username and password and such... I change it and it seems to accept it, yet the email address text box is empty. I then try it again and it's empty again. I then tried putting my email address I had originally, and it stays in the text box! I don't understand why this is. I have also tried changing it on the Message Settings page and it's the same deal. Now everytime I go to my Inbox page I have a message at the top asking for me to update my email address, so I guess I no longer have an email address associated with my account. Is this possible? And why will the system not keep my new email address? It is not giving me any error messages like it can when you use the same username and all that jazz... nothing at all.
I don't know if this is possibly a filter thing, but my new email address is with Apple's new MobileMe service, so my email address domain is me.com, is this possible too short or something to be accepted?
does your new email address have "dustda01" in the address by any chance? if so that would be your problem right there the system won't allow users to input email addresses that include the username in its title in an attempt to prevent spam.
Thank you for the links. I did actually look but for some reason didn't come across those. I guess it was too late at night for me. LOL I'm going to try them now and I'll let you know what happens, thank you.
Okay, so nothing seemed to work. I tried various methods, but nada. So far, from my own trial and error, it simply doesn't like domain (me.com).
So the situation, as I see it, is this. I can not use my new email address (_________@me.com). Yet I can use it if I change the domain name to telus.net or gmail.com. There is nothing wrong with my username, it consists simply of letters, no profanity or anything ignorant to be blocked by a filter. That case is proven as I can still use it if I change the @me.com to @telus.net or @gmail.com.
Basically, the system does not like me.com for whatever reason, I'm assuming filters, and since this is a legitimate service run by Apple called MobileMe, this needs to be fixed ASAP for all people using the new service. For more information on Apple's new service, please visit me.com or search for Apple MobileMe on Google.
I hope there are either simpler solutions out there, or this can be cleared up in the filter for all users using the new me.com domain. Thank you.
Relax - use an alternate disposable web based email , have it forward to your @me.com domain until Admin gets to the mile deep queue of work - seriously.
Hey....calmate' .... it's a free site. You're going to have some major ulcers a'poppin in a year or two. You're too young for that! Go check out a sunset or two and you'll see what's really important....or pet a puppy, anything to get the pressure down.
I'm sorry if I'm coming across as angry, that wasn't my intent. I'm just anxious to see things working properly, that's all. It's all good though, I think I'll take you up on the puppy idea... LOL
Are you telling me that in this filter there are legitimate domain names being blocked? That doesn't seem like an effective filter than, does it? Is it possible to make a rule / exception for the @me.com domain? I mean it's owned by Apple, it's quite clearly not a spam domain.
Okay thank you for your help. I guess all I can do is keep trying it every now and then. For now I just have it on my old TELUS account address, but of course I will lose that one day. Thanks again, and I hope this gets fixed at some point in the near future.
