Posted: 12/28/2008 12:24:22 AM | If you have any other mail from that person try opening the 'view all contact' from their mail. If in that view the mail is not there then I'm sorry to say it is gone. It is not hiding somewhere to be found by a moderator or boss.. it is gone.
Deleted mail is just that deleted. You only have a chance if you have other mail from that person. Is there no other way to get back in contact with that person? | |

AH finally, it seems someone else is posting re the same problem I have just started having?
since 12/22(I think) my in box and sent msg have only go back 20 days instead of 30+(it used to be pretty consistently 31-32 days).
I'm curious how many others have the same problem.
I have positive confirmation from 3 others so far. (as of now only messages back to 12-8)
However I also have definite answers from 2 people I trust that they seem unaffected. | |

If a user requests money on this site it's a scam, and you should report it here along with any other type of scam/spam. We delete messages older than 20 days because they take up too much space.
It would have been nice of ADMIN to alert us the change was coming as I was of the habit of going through messages about to expire and deciding at that time if I still wanted to keep track of the sender : ( ............................ Oh well ..... | |

Posted: 1/4/2009 8:38:45 AM | I was wondering about that as well, I had a few emails one day, then poof! everything was gone...I wasn't sure exactly why, and in my case it wasn't the end of the world or anything, except for the moments where I considered the possibility of early onset Alzheimer's!
Truth is that this is probably a good sign, a heavy email burden on a server isn't good in the first place, so maybe the site is growing past it's capacity to maintain too many active emails on it's server space? That would mean more members, which can't be a bad thing really....or?
I suppose from now on important stuff will be written down on paper, like favorites, phone numbers and the like. Technology....so predictably unpredictable. | |

Just a thought, but have you tried asking the person that sent you those messages if they still have a copy of them?
I only bring this up because it's not uncommon for users to compose their messages outside of POF. The use of a spell check option being one of the most prevalent reasons. Getting around the somewhat short log-in time being another.
Personally, I found it best to retain a copy of every message that I have sent or posted here for my own record. That way I'll always know exactly what I said and when I said it. Perhaps your friend, or even yourself, may have composed their messages this way? It sure wouldn't hurt to ask. | |

There are ways to see some older messages. This would be a lot simpler if you asked your specific question.

The PoF android program synchs with your account and will archive the emails on your phone while pulling in any new ones recived. PoF probably changed the policy to free up server storage space a bit. | |

Suggestion: I always copy and paste emails into a Word document with her name on it.
That way I get time to create a thoughtful reply later while offline.
I paste her email at the top of the page, then write my reply above that and Word just keeps adding pages at the bottom as needed. I even take a second to color-code her message to make it easier to read. Hers are rose, mine are black.
I often go back and read past emails to remember as much as I can about a person. | |
