| Question Posted: 7/29/2011 9:16:14 PM | | I was wondering if someone could tell me the reason why it shows up in red at the top of the page "message sent" when I send a message. Sometimes that phrase "message sent" is in green lettering and sometimes it is in red, could someone please explain the difference and what it means? Thank you for your time. | |

| Re: False "sent message." Posted: 9/12/2011 6:15:55 PM | The system should be able to tell the difference between typical spammer activity and that of a normal user.
A normal user is going to have an account open long term with an average of a a few messages per day at most when not counting replies. They will enter their messages slowly, perhaps with profile browsing inbetween, and although some may cut-and-paste the same introductory message to new contacts, others won't.
A spammer is going to have a recently opened account and attempt to pump out alot of messages in that time (most likely more than 10 per day if not hundreds). The rate of entry of these messages will probably be several per minute (in excess of 5), and if they are browsing at all, they will probably hit EVERY person displayed on a given search result page. Typically, they also don't send roses or virtual gifts (as those have limited value since one can accumulate only 60 points/day), where insufficient points should cause intervention instead of delivery.
To prevent detection by maintaining a low average, inactive accounts (suggestion: 6 months since the last login) should probably be deactivated and/or removed outright. If a real person were behind such an account, I would consider such as abandoned -- as most active people check in at least monthly if not weekly or daily.
I find it disingenuous for a system to be programmed to lie to its users. A better system would be to detect the abusive, automated behavior based on its characteristics which differ from behavior driven by a real person behind it.

| Question Posted: 4/19/2012 8:07:11 PM | I've been going round & round in the FAQs and in this forum and cant seem to find a simple answer to my issue
Sending message and getting the "Message sent" confirmation yet no messages are sending or appearing in my sent items. Here is what I have checked - my account is active & paid for - contacting a user that has not blocked me (happening with all users in fact) - Tested with a friend who has an account and nothing happening - Profile filter to who can be contacted is being respected - I've not been sending numerous emails or spamming, not using repeat messages - no writting my messages in another software - tested 2 broswers & 2 seperate PCs - checked antivirus & anti spam filter - system was working fine 1 week ago - tried "Contact us" never get as much as a reply or computer acknowledgement of message sent
so any chances of getting actual assistance?
