Posted: 8/6/2006 12:35:35 PM | I want to know how you know if you've been blocked. I was messaging somebody recently, and I think I pissed her off. All of a sudden, when I try to "view all correspondence" I only see her messages and not mine. I can't see mine in the "sent" tray either. I haven't tried messaging her since, but I might try that and just ask her, but either way, I'm wondering what it means that I can't see any of my own messages just with this other particular member.

At the end of the message pane in any email you've received (I'm going to make a leap of faith that you've received one in the year+ that you've been on the site), there are two blue links in the bottom left corner "Block User" and "Blocked User List". Pick the appropriate one for your intention.

Posted: 8/17/2006 3:13:26 PM | Okay....the 'blocked user' list will appear at the bottom of every email you recieve.
Use any email...and click on the 'blocked user' area..it will bring up the profile names of anyone you've blocked who is currently using the site.
Beside their names should be another area that says 'unblock'...just click on that to unblock. | |

GENERAL NOTES ON BLOCKING
#1 - You can only eMail block someone if they have sent you an email.
#2 - eMail blocking does not exclude you from search results or from the blockee viewing your profile
#3 - eMail blocking does not apply to Instant Messaging as it's an add on 3rd party software not belonging to POF
#4 - If you eMail block someone and you had them on your favourites list, they will come off.
HOW TO BLOCK A USER
a) Open their email received on POF
b) at the bottom of their email will be two links Block User and Blocked User List
c) select "Block User"
Note: For demonstration purpose in this thread, the Block User link above is disabled, but your blocked user link is available to be clicked on.
HOW TO UNBLOCK A USER
a) Open an email received on POF from anyone - doesn't matter who
b) Click on Blocked User List
c) Check the box beside the user you wish to unblock and then click on the "Unblock Selected" button
On the off chance you don't have any emails, send yourself one. Make sure you send yourself a long enough email or it won't send.

I have been in contact for several weeks with a lady from Canada. This is a few hours drive from me. She sent me a note last week and when I try to send my reply note a block comes up that states she is only accepting notes from those in her area. Not only is this not listed as part of her criteria but in her profile she explains that she wants to meet others in different places as she travels allot. Posted: 3/10/2007 10:53:49 AM | I was having a very nice IM conversation last night. He sent me a kiss, but when I went to send him one back, I accidentally hit the block button instead of the kiss. I immediately unblocked him, but all of his messages to me were instantly deleted of course.
When the word Kiss appears, it shows up right next to the block button and I mistakenly hit on the wrong place...see what happens when you don't put your reading glasses on! lol
Is there any way a warning, such as "Are you sure you want to block this person?" would appear so you don't mistakenly block a contact? | |

#2 - Email blocking does not exclude you from any searches
If you appear in searches, then your profile can be clicked on, hence viewed
I thought once blocked, they could not view you again
It's an email block, not a view block
It's been suggested before however, that once you block somone, they should be totally blocked, including searches, views and IM's - but that's admin's call. | |

Take the hint - not interested if they haven't read it. You keep repeatedly emailing someone, without a response to your first email, you'll soon enough find out what it's like to be email blocked. | |

Profile Hidden or not, your Pics can be seen by accessing your Profile from the Forums.
It would be really nice to have the function to block a user before they contact you.

Posted: 9/8/2007 10:20:52 AM | I'm in the same boat you are. Now this moron has taken it to the forums and is still going strong slamming me...of course I feel the need to respond to get my point across. Since he's viewed me, his picture is there all the time which makes me sick to look at him.
I'd hate to hide my profile from others because of one person. If need be I'll hide the profile or delete my account. It wouldn't be the first time because of this guy..he's "followed" me to other sites as well. Stalker...federal offense.
POF really needs to step up to the plate and allow people to completely block people they don't want viewing us let alone contacting us. Blocking is blocking and should apply all the way across the board. | |
