| How to hide my profile

To Hide your profile - Click on Edit Profile located on the menu bar at the top of the page. There, you will see these lines:
Edit More Registration Details like passwords HERE, To hide your profile from others click here
Hiding your profile disables many things such as the Instant Messenger.
To Un-Hide your profile, just revisit the same page (Edit Profile) and the wording will be reversed, like so:

Yes you will be able to use the forums.
NOTE: If you find that your profile still seems to be hidden, i.e. no picture appears in the forums under your postings, go back to your images page, and re-select a "main" image and then don't forget to click on the update button at the bottom of the page.
Additionally, when someone sets their account/profile to invisible: - They will not appear in any of the searches from the main site, whether you are a member or non-member.
- If you are only logged into the forums and NOT logged into your POF mail account
--> you will not see that person's profile by simply clicking on the View Profile link under their thumbnail picture, here in the forums.
- If you are however, logged into your mail account as well as the forums
--> then you will see their profile if you click on the View Profile link under their thumbnail picture, here in the forums.
- If the hidden person sends you an email/IM
--> you will see their profile
Note:
If for some odd reason you do not see your picture in the forums when posting, after you've "unhid" your profile
- go to your IMAGES upload page
- uncheck all images
- then save the settings by clicking the button at the bottom of the page
- recheck the images you want to show on your profile
- recheck the image you want as your main
- then save the settings, button at the bottom of the page

If you selected "Yes" to enable the "Viewed Me" Feature in your Mail Settings, it might override the 'Hidden Profile" Status for this Pageview only.
If you hid your Profile, enabled the "Viewed Me" Function in your "Mail Settings" and can subsequently be found in 'Searches', then I would venture forward and propose that it may very well "Unhide" your Profile in the same Stroke.
If anyone wants to test that and post the Results here, that would be appreciated.

i.e.
Go to Edit Profile located on the menu bar at the top of the page. (<-- or click the underlined link )
After you've clicked on the above link, you see these lines:

Hiding your profile disables many things such as the Instant Messenger.
do as the above suggests when you get to that page and you'll be fine. | |

Thanks for your response. Tried this but it did not work Any other suggestions or hints
When I did this it elimiated pic from my profile but would not go thru in my emails

Keep in mind that this was the first and only attempt at contact between the two of us and I am not on any forums. My thought was that if I initiate contact, the other person can see my profile--even if hidden. Seems logical. But is that correct? | |

Yes - even if you didn't send a photo, they would still see your profile, with the exception of the images if they too were hidden. | |

Posted: 8/9/2007 4:35:38 PM | The Recipient of your E-Mail can see your Profile, and has no further Contacting Restrictions of any kind in regard to you whatsoever, Pics or no Pics.
Whether your Images are hidden or not, when you attach Pic(s) to an e-mail, the Recipient will receive exactly what you sent out.
What you have in your Sent Msg/Outbox is identical to what the Recipient has in his Inbox
The "Hidden" Profile Status has no Bearing on your E-Mailing, its nothing other than a Foxhole off the Search Radars.
