Do not use Banking Terms, such as "Account", "Bank", "Transfer", Profanities or sexual Terms, the Names of Hosting Sites, Names of certain blocked Countries such as Nigeria, India, Russia, or anything else that could reasonably be expected to catch the Eye of the Site's Spam/Scam Filters.

That User has other Contact Restrictions per their Mail Settings. For these, you will receive a message back saying you can't contact the user.
You have a Mail Settings Restriction such as | Dating | and have e-mailed another User with the very same Restriction, or other such Mail Setting Conflict. You cannot block that in your Mail Settings what is also indicated in the Looking For Field in your Edit Profile
You, or the intended E-Mail Recipient, or both have a missing or incorrect Postal Code Profile Entry, esp. a "75 Mile" Contact Restriction Limit in either's Mail Settings.
You inadvertently edited the Recipients To: Field instead of the Subject Line and fired your E-Mail/Reply off to a Non-Existent User/E-Mail Address, or to a User who had deleted his Profile.
You have made Reply to an existing E-Mail in your Inbox, but changed the Recipient in the To: Field of a User who has his/her Profile hidden, and does not have you on his/her Favourites List. Since Mail Settings are hidden from View, Contact Restrictions can not be determined.
The Mail Recipient has made certain fundamental Changes to his/her Profile such as Change of User Name or Mail Settings but has not yet E-Mail Logged out, reflecting the Update.
That User E-Mail Blocked you subsequent to receipt of your Message, consequently your 'Sent Mail'disappeared from your Sent Msg/Outbox Folder. If that User then unblocked you, and you e-mailed again, the same Sequence could re-occur.
Your Browser's User Agent is concealed, corrupt or indicates the Presence of Malware, Trojan or Viral Infection.
A User's Profile was deleted, but not the actual User Account, resulting from massive Errors generated by a User trying to rig the Voting System utilizing automated Bots or other similar Types of Abuses.
There will also be unpublished filters put in place by the Admin for proprietary reasons, such as a high Percentage of E-Mail blocks or a high Contact-to-Complaint Ratio, etc. Unfortunately the above example is only one - there are others that will not be disclosed in order to disuade circumvention of those filters and blocks.

Sometimes no Error Message Feedback is returned after you have fired off an E-Mail. Check your Sent Msg/Outbox Folder and if a Copy is there, then its assumed it went through.
I must have hit one of the rules....so my question is how long will I be blocked from sending any mail? Thanks.
Depends on which one you hit - if it's a contact restriction that is listed on her profile, then forever until she decides to remove that block. If it's any of the other ones, then it should be obvious by the description of the situation as to what will rectify it.
This just started happening - one to a person I don't know (any of the crazy stuff above could apply) - and one to a friend where I know NONE of the rules above apply. Have sent her email before and had it show up - now it doesn't show up in sent email.
I am pretty sure it is not 1 through 4 billion above.
My issue is that I can not initiate any new outgoing mail conversations. I can send as part of an existing mail thread and respond to new mail. This has been the situation for a few days.
I suspect it happend when, while on a flight from CA to Philly I bookmarked 7 ladies to follow-up with upon reaching my hotel room. I suspect my intro email was not sufficiently different.
I think my issue issue then is #1 More than (4) Four duplicate E-Mails sent per Day.
Since it's been three days it's not obvious to me what will rectify it..I can send to initiate contact no matter what the content of my email.
Any other thoughts on this or am I missing something else?
Hello, I'm having the same issue. I've tried what seems like everything to send messages, but they aren't showing up in the sent folder. This has been going on for a about a week. Does waiting 48 hours before logging in again resolve this issue? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!
My issue is, and this may be a site bug, I can not sent a message from the Favorites page.
Here is the issue:
1. Go to Favorites (which I was using to bookmark profiles for later on the plane) 2. Click View MSGS (there are none) 3. Enter a message in the Quick Reply box 4. Click "Send Quick Reply" 5. User retuned to In Box and with "Message Sent".
If I instead go back to the person's profile and send it sends fine.
Now...this may be by design but I'm sure this was working...or maybe it never was! If it's not supposed to be used to start a conversation it probably shouldn't be available?
Problem solved, going to the favorites thing worked for me, but my main problem with regards to sending messages, but thank you for your help! It seems that when sending messages, the subject line is no longer available. I was unaware of this until now, because before I was typing in the "To:" box, thinking it was a subject headline. Typing in the To box something other than the user name will cause your messages not to get sent obviously. Hope this helps others
Today I am able to send mail both to my friend and to the person that failed a few days ago. Whatever issue was there is now gone (and I don't see anything in the 24 items above that is likely to apply to me and the messages). So if someone at POF fixed this - thank you.
My messages aren't being sent either. Been corresponding back and forth with this one person for a while, and there were no problems. I feel bad because he thinks I didn't respond. Tried 2 times and not in sent folder. How to fix?? I looked at the list of possible reasons but I don't think those apply.
I had this happen today. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what the deal was. So I kept editing the message, removing things I thought the filter might not "like," and sending again. Eventually it went through.
My best guess is it may have been a text encoding issue with the * character, which I sometimes use to *highlight* words. Depending on your browser and operating system, the default text encoding option may cause problems even with normal keyboard characters. I had a problem on another site, which interpreted the ' character as a weird, extended latin letter.
This has happened to me twice. The first time, I think it's because I used asterisks, so that's understandable. Today, however, I guess the filter can't handle the dreaded unresolvable ellipses. I took them out, and tried to resend without any odd characters, and still it doesn't show in sent mail. Gee, maybe it flipped out because I used the word "fortune", and it thought it was a banking term... who knows?
Oh, well, I'll slap together some boring message that won't get a reply, and also won't befuddle the message system.
It keeps doing it often no matter what i do. I have contracted in past and no one really not even csr care. I been having messging problems on and off for day now. It sucks im not geting any help to fix it or make me feel happy about it.
This irritating me. I sent a message to someone a couple days ago and they responded in a positive manner and I politely replied. Their reply is still in my inbox and says that I replied, but neither of the messages are in my sent messages box. Rather than have a long list of 24 reasons, why can't the system just notify you of what is going on rather than causing frustration like it is doing? It doesn't appear to me that any of the 24 reasons are valid in my case, so why?
I have been having the same problem the last couple of months. I have a feeling its as a result of sending messages to people who are looking for intimate encounters. My question is, why should this be an issue. If I am in a situation in which I am looking for intimate encounters why would I send a message to someone who is looking for a relationship. This does not make sense to me. Do people who only send messages to people who are looking for relationships get flagged and cutoff from sending messages. The whole idea of a dating site is THAT WE TRY TO MEET COMPATIBLE PEOPLE!
there is one member i have been trying to contact. everytime i write a message and click send it says message was sent. it does not show up in my sent messages or my interactions with the member. i have however had other messages to other users show up in my sent messages folder. what is the issue here?
I couldn't find an appropriate place to post this ? But why doesn't "https:\" appear when I log in - instead of "http:\"? Isn't this a secure site? and also whenever someone clicks "interested in meeting me", out of the 3 times it's happened they are not found in your site, jees what are the chances 3 people in a row deleted their profile before I could look at it???? AM I BEING REDIRECTED TO A FISHING SITE, AND HAS MY PASSWORD BEEN COMPRIMISED??? EVEN as I speak, above I am looking at "http:/" !!!!
