| POF MAIL: First contact messages - won't send
Posted: 12/29/2006 12:18:55 AM | I have not hit the maximum number of messages in a day. I am not cutting and pasting a generic message. Yet, my outgoing messages are not actually going out. Does it have to do with the Subject line, content being somewhat similar or attached pic being same? Any help would be greatly appreciated on this. I will not be staying in the forum for long so pls send your suggestions to my message bin.

I have sent your IT department two letters now and I still have not gotten a reply as to what is causing this...not everytime, but almost everytime!
When you write to somone that you think would be a match for you for the first time and your letter says it was sent, but never shows up in your sent box, well that defeats the point of this site doesn't it?
A female friend of mine had me write to a friend of hers on POF that she thought the two of us would be perfect for, I wrote her, hit send, and the above problem occured again, I then wrote to my friend...direct email...and asked her to ask her friend if she got my letter through POF? Her reply was "NO, she did not receive it", I checke the letter out again with your guidelines in the FAQ and again nothing there is wrong with the letter, I sent it again, same problem! I then tried modifying it and sending it for a third time...same problem!!!
Can you, or anyone that is a moderator, or an IT person there answer this problem, and don't keep throwing out the old chestnut about "reading the FAQ and all your answers are there"...because they aren't!!!

hate to burst your bubble there Paladin, but the IT department is on holidays - and that department consists of ONE person, the owner :) so bare with him.

point taken, but I suspect it's the way the system has been coded, perhaps. I imagine the message is being issued prior to any system filters being executed - perhaps there's a reasoning I don't know (possible decoy for spammers), in any event always check your sent basket for the true status.
As for your problem, You haven't made mention that it's the exact same as the OP's problem, sending with an attached photo.
If that's the case, then the only similarities between you and the OP is that you're running IE7 from what I can tell in the background - I don't know if this is a "red herring" or not, but I've noted this as the 3rd time that IE7 is a common factor in this problem.
If you're running another browser or can revert back to IE6 and test on my account, then we can potentially "blame" whatever new code IE7 has implemented, possibly necessitating a fix by Admin to compensate for this anomaly.
The OP's problem seems to be ocurring only if he sends an attached picture, you can try a test email again on me if you wish.

PS: Do ensure though, that you aren't running contrary to any of the following:
- More than (4) Four Duplicate E-Mails sent per Day.
- More than 40 new Contacts e-mailed per Day.
- Do not use Banking Terms, such as "Account", "Bank", "Transfer",
or anything else that could reasonably be expected to catch the Eye
of the Site's Spam/Scam Filter.
- Do not use the ---> @ symbol in your e-mails.
- Do not send Spam Links.
- Your E-Mail is too long, exceeding approx. 7,800 Characters.
- That User has other Contact Restrictions per their Mail Settings
- You have selected "Dating" in your Mail Settings and e-mailed another
User with the very same Setting.
- You have made Reply to an existing E-Mail in your Inbox, but changed
the Recipient in the To: Field of a User who has his/her Profile hidden,
and does not have you on his/her Favourites List.
- The Site's System Filter has blocked you from e-mailing anyone who
has set their Mail Settings to block those who have previously messaged
others for Sex or Intimate Encounters.
- That User may have E-Mail Blocked you.
- That User's Profile may have been deleted.

Posted: 12/30/2006 3:30:24 PM | OK...I opened up "Mozilla Firefox version 2.0.0.1" and sent it with clicking one of my photos shown below, clicked send...same problem, it says it is sent, but when you open the "sent" folder it is not in there!
I did it again witout clicking on my photos, clicked send...exactly the same things as above!!!
I have IE7 like you suspect, but the same thing happens in either "Firefox" or "IE7" since I have now tried to send it with and witout photos in both of them and the result is the same!
The first letter I sent to your IT department..."of one"...was around December 7th and the second today before this posting to you, but from December 7th to the 30th is a bit of a wait even for a force of one???
Anyway...your photo no photo idea seems not to be the case in either browser, and again, i have gone through your list of things to check and I can't fine even one of those problems in my emails that I am trying to send?
One point that I noticed, although I doubt this means anything, but when you hit "send" and it tells you "your email has been sent" it defaults to showing the "inbox" and not the "sent" folder???
So, what do you think of this added information?

The automatic default is to the inbox for Firefox.

Posted: 12/30/2006 4:08:57 PM | OK...We seem to have no problems with the different test you had me do, and I did send a complete copy of the last letter I was having problems sending to "late™" and it shows in the sent box as sent, and that she read it!
So if you are sending a letter to a person that you haven't emailed yet, and all the other things are OK as to content, and "late™" receives the exact text Ok what...short of a block, but where there is no block...is going on???

Now I do usually write these in Microsoft Word so that I can save to a file what I have written, but I do not send the same email ever...until this last problem sending, and then yes, I re-sent the same letter, but only in this case!
I do not do the accursed spamming, scamming, or anything else ending in "ming" so there!!!
But why did this go through to the moderator and not to the intended victum...aaa...I mean recipient?

And even if it does, that does not account all the other letters to other people that I have tried to email that did not contain the word "wanker!" I do not use this very often, but then to me it is not offensive...well unless you are a compulsive wanker, but that would be the only exception!
Humor aside...yes, that was humor...how come this happens on other letters witout probably the worst word...it would seem..."wanker" that I used this one time???
Mabe I should send you a test letter with the words wanker used in it...Hmmm???

Try to keep first-contact mails as clean as possible, no email addies, contact info, or URLs either.

I took it out of the text and substituted the phrase..."Take off you looser!"...not as colorful, or as funny, but low and behold it went through IE7 and with my photo attached I may add!!!

Posted: 3/13/2007 11:26:00 PM | okay, this may sound like a vein question, but recently I have just for the shoots and giggles of it contacted a person asking for intimate encounter, and then I found someone else I would rather talk to but they unfortunatley have that as a message restriction.
granted it is a security feature, and I am not asking for any special treatment, although i feel like I have screwed myself. But I just wanted to know if there was some type of time period to wait before your name gets cleared, or are you ruined forever.
The reason i ask is that this was not answered in the FAQ.sorry to bother you. | |
