Profile: Requirements - Why Won't Updates TakePage 1 of 2    (1, 2)
Hi there. For some reason everytime I log out and then log back in..my 'about me' paragraph is gone, as well as my heading. So I paste it back in..it stays until I log out. Can you please fix it? Thanks so much :)

Minimum Character Count in the About Me Form Field is 190, (Spaces are not counted) the maximum for the entire Profile is 6,850 (including Spaces). You could use a Text Editor such as Microsoft Word to poll the Statistics on Character Count.

Your Profile cannot contain more than ...

  • A maximum of 18 consecutive "Periods" »» ..................
  • A maximum of 5 consecutive "Greater Than Signs" »» > > > > >
  • A maximum of 12 consecutive "Question Marks" »» ????????????

... or face an Error Dialog insinuating you are trying to be funny.

Make sure you have no E-Mail Addresses, Weblinks, Phone Numbers, etc.

Also, do not use the @ Symbol in both the Forums or in your Profile.

it's weird because I was on here before and I'm using the same description and it meets all of the requirements....I just pasted it back in and stayed logged in....checked and it was gone again. It's pretty annoying :)

I know this may sound silly, but you ARE hitting the UPDATE profile button, right? (I know it's so obvious!!)

Your "Why does this keep disappearing?" question with the umpteen question marks is still there.

As Ticket said, check for website addies and the 'at' symbol.

Is there anything in your profile descriptive that could be contrued as a phone number? Such as a date or anything else that one might want to use numbers to describe something.

    • Do not use Banking Terms, such as "Account", "Bank", "Transfer",
or anything else that could reasonably be expected to catch the Eye
      of the Site's Spam/Scam Filter.

gues what? I think it's fixed. I had an author's name in my description..maybe that is why. I removed it. weird that they let it stay there for so long before. My fingers are crossed :) Thanks to all.

I had an author's name in my description.

And I'd guess that along with that author's name were the dates of his birth and death (1899-1975). Those numbers were being mistaken for a phone number and getting the profile content deleted, as was suggested in post #8.

The Spam/Scam Filters are being updated on a continuous Basis.

New Spam/Scam = New Filter, no different than updating your A/V or Spyware Programs.

I had an author's name in my description..maybe that is why.

Possibly another Filter that catches Intellectual Property/Copyright/Trademark related Data Entries, often the sought after Preferences of Trolls and Fake Profiles.

    (1899-1975)

You need a sequence of at least 7 numbers to trip the filter.

A friend of mine as a joke hacked changed my profile information, so that it says I'm a man, and now every time I try to change it back, it won't change. Is there anything I can do so that it says I'm a woman?

    I think you're misunderstanding - ^ above trappedonbayst
As written - previous message #17, my profile name was initially Shoal & was deleted a few weeks ago, - I have since re-registered & now have a new profile with a different name...however, when I input posts - the forum the name shoal along with her profile is showing up - posted by & - view profile...but she is not me...
I'm wondering what - if anything can be done to rectify this, so as my new profile name shows, or [bold]any[/bold]suggestions - what to do?

I have just recently gotten back online at home. However, I cannot edit my profile. Mechanically, there is nothing wrong with my computer. I'm a tech. However, I cannot seem to change my details with none of my browsers--IE 7, Firefox 2.2, and the new versions of Opera and Avant. (The IE7 was a recent concession because of the inability for some webpages to display correctly.) Also, I am using DSL service. I'm about to pull out my hair. Not the first time. Any suggestions would help. (I used the FAQ page first and that didn't help--along with the "Contact US" page. That's why I'm here now.)

Exactly what are you trying to edit in your Profile?

Are you by Chance also attempting to change your Age and Gender in your Registration?

No. Just trying to change an "update" to show that I am now reachable at home. That's all. My gender and age are just fine, thank you. I'm also having trouble replying to messages now. It's frustrating! (Need smiley with hair being pulled out...)
