| | Was my E-Mail Actually Received? - Sent StatusPage 1 of 2 (1, 2) | | My POF is acting very moody these past few weeks. I send a message to someone and then don't hear back. Then I get a message from the same person a week later wondering if I got the message. So I know I'm not blocking that person. This is very frustrating because it doesn't make for very favourable first contacts and it's impossible to make any arrangements to meet. What's up with POF email? | |

The following is now a PAY Feature
Read, Unread, Read Deleted, and Unread Deleted is your Feedback from your Sent Msg/Outbox that POFs Mail Server has sent your E-Mail and that it has been received, and is also the Status of your E-Mail in the Recipients Inbox.
Go into your Sent Msg/Outbox, (View All Correspondence) and First Contact History and locate the Message.
Further, here is how you can check if, and what E-Mail might still be in your Mail-Box:
In your 'E-mail', at the far bottom left -->
... select the desired E-Mail Correspondent from "your" alphabetically listed User Menu as in the Example above.
If you can locate the Message, then he received it. What happened to it afterwards may be a User Error at his End. If it's gone, then you were E-Mail blocked to make the Message disappear and unblocked subsequently.

| Please Help me Posted: 5/16/2009 4:33:20 PM | I made contact with a lady who lives near Barrie/ or in Barrie. She send me an e-mail and it had been after 20 days, her profile is no longer in the system but I do have the notifications that I received. Is there any way that I will be able to contact her again.....
What can I do other than praying that she signs on again.
Plase tell me that is a solution to retriving my lost email. Even if there is a service charge I do not mind.
Thanking you in advance,
Hugh Douglas | |

| Not receiving emails Posted: 2/1/2010 6:11:34 PM | | Hmmm, this is quite concerning. Online dating is difficult at best. So when I send a message; it shows in my sent box, first as unread and then as read, then I contact that person again, and ask how come I have not heard back from them, they say they did not get the messages.....is this even possible? | |
|
| Not receiving emails Posted: 2/1/2010 7:04:12 PM | nope. don't think it's possible.
if they didn't read it, it would still say "unread".
so....they're handing you a line. they probably had another, more intriguing fish on the line at the time of the 1st message, and blew you off. if they pay attention now, it's because "plan a" fell through, so now they're willing to go to "plan b" (you).

Is this a know bug? No bug.

| Email Sent but not in outbox Posted: 6/30/2010 5:56:17 PM | Recently I sent a message to someone (blaquemystique99) and then noticed that they were online at the time (6/30/2010 5 54 AM) so I stayed online for a while in case they chose to reply quickly. I checked the message sent page and saw that she had read the message. After waiting a bit I logged off. Now this afternoon the message sent page indicates that the message has not been read, is their a glitch that mislabels the messages? I don’t expect to recive a reply to every message I send but it would be nice to be able to trust the indicator that lets you know they have been read. Also earlier still messages that I sent to user MilknHoney2 were marked as unread but in a message she sent me she referred to info in the messages that were marked unread. Also in one message she attempted to send me her personal e-mail address but all of it except a , (coma) sign (subbing for the att symbol?) seems to have been deleted from her message, dose your system filter the mail being sent between users to eliminate addresses being exchanged (doesn’t that kind of defeat the whole idea of having the site in the first place) | |

| Email Sent but not in outbox Posted: 7/2/2010 4:06:27 PM | 1. Please don't post usernames in the forums, it's not allowed and will get you busted. Sure you didn't know so hopefully the mods will just edit your post for you.
2. Sometimes fileters kick and sometimes they don't on e-mail addies. From my understanding they're not supposed to after the first contact, but who knows. All the people I know when we exchange e-mail addies we'll say my yahoo is such&such or whatever&whatever since most know how to add the yahoo dot whatever to the end. Those never seem to get filtered out, it's just to hard to figure out what will be thrown in so the wildcard doesn't work as well.
3. Try clearing out your cache (browsing history) on your browser and you'll find those messages have been read.
4. Delete a message as soon as you have sent it and quit stalking your sent box. It will just drive you nuts seeing they read and wondering if they will respond an so on. Some will read the e-mails on a smartphone and reply at the end of the day, others will browse your profile, get distracted and so on and so on and so on and so on. Just delete the things and move on with your life or you will soon be living in a white room with soft walls. Trust me, I know...
Hey... When did they put feathers inside these walls? Can I get a nice burgundy velvet covering over the walls next time?

| Not receiving emails Posted: 7/10/2011 4:18:00 PM | | That has happen to me as well. But I am not a serious member so cant see if my mail was read or not read. A person mailed me and I replied and he later mailed me again. I asked if he got my e mail and he said no. So I do not think its a matter of plan a or b..I do think some e mails do not get to their destination. | |

| Not receiving emails Posted: 7/10/2011 4:36:45 PM | ^^^ for LOTS of reasons for first emails only. You can check your SENT messages to tell. If it is there then they got it.

| Was my E-Mail Actually Received? - Sent Status Posted: 7/10/2011 4:37:56 PM | | I'm having the same issue. I send messages, and don't hear back. Moreover, I don't even see the guys in my "viewed me" screen. I genuinely have no idea if they're receiving my messages. It's very discouraging, and has driven me to the point of strongly considering canceling my account. I don't really want to cancel, but if I'm getting no replies, what's the point? | |
|
| Was my E-Mail Actually Received? - Sent Status Posted: 7/10/2011 5:01:14 PM | Thank you.
So, in a nutshell, it's safe to assume that if a message is showing in my sent box, then it was at least delivered?
May I make a suggestion? Would it be possible to notify the sender if there is, for example, a mail settings conflict between the sender and the intended recipient? At least that way there'd be some sort of explanation for the lack of response.

| Was my E-Mail Actually Received? - Sent Status Posted: 7/10/2011 5:11:06 PM | The F.A.Q.s answer pretty much everything, but briefly:
- If there is a mailing restriction, anyone trying to send a first contact message will be told so. - If a message trips the sites spam/scam filter the normal page saying the message has been sent will be displayed, but the message will not actually be sent, if it isn't shown on your sent messages page straight after you send it, it didn't go, but if it is there it was delivered. - Once a user has successfully sent a first contact message, the recipient can message that user regardless of restrictions, unless the first user subsequently blocks them.

| Was my E-Mail Actually Received? - Sent Status Posted: 5/24/2012 11:18:29 PM | I am having trouble getting in contact with another user. We have been chatting for a few weeks. Occasionally, I would notice that she would not respond to my questions. I thought she was ignoring select ones. Finally, I asked her what was going on and she replied that she had not received the messages. This has happened on and off for weeks now, now it has been almost a week since we have spoken because she is not receiving any of my messages. She replied 2 days ago very upset that I had not messaged, when in fact I message her at least once everyday. This past week honestly, I have messaged her with no response a minimum of a dozen times.
All of my sent messages show up on my sent page. As far as I can tell none of her requirements have changed This is clearly not a first contact message Some messages are as short as "hey", Im not sure why that would trip the spam/scam filter

| Was my E-Mail Actually Received? - Sent Status Posted: 5/25/2012 2:32:50 PM | | And one sent message did go through before the whole thing screwed up. I tried quick message and the message box at the bottom of the woman's profile. They just disappear and I checked their filters . Got the "message sent" after sending it but nothing after that. | |

| Not receiving emails Posted: 8/28/2012 9:57:56 PM | | I'm kinda wondering the same thing.Maybe to get all the mail or replies we have to PAY for the service.Since all this was free when I was last on POF in the fall of 2008. I don't mean this to brag but on an average day I would get 5-6 messages from different women per day, before I left this site(due to getting married....don't ask.)I had just turned 41,and now will be 45 in 2 weeks. So is it being 44?Cause I'm still that same handsome guy.lol.I looked at the sent messages and there are around 75 in there.I assume that's about what I have sent since I signed back up in Feb. and no responses from any of them, and only the ones that contacted me first on there multi-times have I chatted with.I'm curious if its me?my profile is shitty?or it is POF not allowing me to receive messages unless I pay for it/Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thank you guys and gals! | |

| Not receiving emails Posted: 8/28/2012 10:21:03 PM | | And just to be clear I signed up when i was separated, but didn't start using the site till Feb. I just wanted to be clear.Thx! | |

| Was my E-Mail Actually Received? - Sent Status Posted: 8/30/2012 8:47:08 PM | | for the record, i think it sucks that finding out if your e-mail has been received and read deleted, unread deleted etc. when this site started it was a FREE site with some great options i don't really see where forking over money makes this a better site than match.com or eHarmony | |
|
| Not receiving emails Posted: 3/2/2013 8:20:33 PM | | rocketman, I am wondering the same thing. I do not have a membership, and I have sent out a few messages to women who claim to try to message back whoever messages them. I try to personalize all messages I send to increase the chances of them replying, but I have yet to receive a message from any of them, but they have viewed my profile. I am fairly certain that just viewing my profile is enough to stop all of them from sending me a reply. Do we have to be a paying member to receive reply messages? If so, I need to get on this so these women don't get the wrong idea of me. | |
