NEW FEATURE: Plentyoffish Music using IMEEM - How To Use
Posted: 4/16/2008 12:53:59 PM
You can now add music to your profile by linking to imeem. The music will not autoplay although I plan on allowing users the option of having all music autoplay.

You need to cut and paste the embed code into POF.

Sample Music on Imeem

The embed code looks like this and its in a text box in the above link.

object width="300" height="80" >param name="movie" value="http://media.imeem.com/m/OYWnhjLj8M/aus=false/" >/param >/param >embed src="http://media.imeem.com/m/OYWnhjLj8M/aus=false/" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="300" height="110" wmode="transparent" >/embed >/object >

Insert this code on the top of the profile Edit Page in the music/playlist section.

wait, if you have a slower internet connection it could take a bit to load.. Yours plays fine for me.

Instead of doing just one song, you can upload entire play lists.

In your Edit Profile ...

You can add music to your Profile by entering your Imeem embed code below. Some help here

Imeem Embed Code:

Looks like this at the top "left" of your Profile's About Me Form Field:

You can also upload Videos to your Imeem Profile and then post them on your POF Profile.

If its not viewable, log-out, delete your Cookies and Temporary Internet Files, make sure Flash player (9.0+) is installed, then log back into your E-Mail and try again.

Note:This is a Music Purchase Gig, you can only listen to a 30 Second Segment of "most" POF Profile Audio if you are not logged into your Profile at Imeem.

Sign Up here. You can upload your own Music to your Imeem Profile and play the full Length of any Song from your Profile.

Imeem Music FAQ
To listen to the full song instead of a 30-second preview, upload the song from your computer to imeem. You can always listen to entire songs that you’ve uploaded to imeem; they will not be converted into 30-second previews. If you do not have the song on your computer, you can buy it on iTunes or on Amazon.com.

Until we obtain permission from the registered artist or record label to stream a song at full-length to everyone, other users may listen to songs you upload to your profile as 30-second previews. You can always listen to songs you upload at full-length.

You can also search for a List of Music at the top right of the Imeem's Playlist Page as shown to the Right, and the "Embedded Code" entered into your Profile's Music/Playlist Section.

Just double-click on an Song of the list to play a Track --->

Change Music by simply entering another 'Embedded Code' into Music/Playlist Section, or remove the Code to delete the Sound Track from your Profile. Make sure you hit < Save Music > when done.

To 'embed' Audio into your Profile, go to the Imeem Website.

At the top Right of the Page, search for "Music" or "Playlist" in the Drop-Down Menu, enter Name of the Artist and/or Song into the Input Field.

You can also upload Videos to your Imeem Profile and then post them on your POF Profile.
Then hit the Search Button. Select the Song or Album(s) on the next Page you want to play in your Profile. On the following Page, copy the 'embedded Code' as shown below into the Music/Playlist Section at the very Top of your Plentyoffish Profile

After you have entered and saved the 'Embedded Code', the Music/Playlist Section will only show the straight Link to the Audio File after "Saving", your Indicator the 'Embedded Code' was accepted, such as:

You can add music to your Profile by entering your Imeem embed code below. Some help here

Imeem Embed Code:

If it does not "Save", or the Code is not there after saving it, then it was not copied correctly, you copied the Browsers URL/Web Address instead of the 'Embedded Code' in the Text Field, the Line was edited or otherwise invalid, or you were logged out of your E-Mail in the Meantime. The Audio File or "Embedded Code" you have selected from Imeem's Site may also have been corrupt or removed by the Webmaster, so try another one.

You cannot use 'embbeded Code' from YouTube or any Media Streaming Site other than Imeem.

If you can't hear/see the Music/Media:

  • Allow the Media a few Seconds to load to show on a Profile.

  • You have a slow Internet Connection and the Media won't show for a Minute or Two.

  • You may need to click on < Play > or double-Click an Item on a Playlist.

  • Your Speakers are not turned on or not plugged into your Computer.

  • "Multimedia Options" in your "Control Panel" are not properly set.

  • Flash player (9.0+) is not installed.

  • The Media is corrupt or has been removed by Imeem's Webmaster.

  • The Media linked to the Profile has little or no Volume.

  • Your Playlist is "Empty" because you haven't added any Music or Media to it.

  • You have deleted your Media/Playlist and/or not updated the "Embedded Code" in your POF Profile.

  • Your Audio Drivers are not installed or are corrupt.

  • You have an older Operating System that does not allow play of multiple Devices/Multimedias simultaneously, and another Process has locked up your Audio/Video.

  • Your Browser's Options are not set to allow http://www.imeem.com/ as a Trusted Site.

  • Your Browser's Security Settings are set too high.

  • Your Browser's Spam Blockers are blocking your Media.

  • Your Firewall is blocking http://www.imeem.com/

    Imeem Playlist Tutorial

The following Tutorial shows you how to create a Music Playlist of your own making. Pretty well the same applies to Video, but we are going to start with Music as its the most popular Media posted on POF Profiles. For those who want to post Videos but not Music, follow the same Instructions as in this Issue. Where it says "Music Playlist", simply click on "Video Playlist" instead. If you only want a single Song instead of a Playlist to be shown on your POF Profile, you have to search for an existing Song on the Imeem' Site, even if its your own uploaded Song. Your uploaded Music will only show in the Form of a Playlist on your POF Profile.

So, here is a Tutorial how to make a Music Playlist.

Go to the Imeem Website, log-in or create a Profile.

    Upload Music/Audio

After you have logged in, go you the "Upload" Section by clicking here: Imeem Media Upload

Then set your Screen Resolution to at least 1024 x 768

On your Media Upload Page as shown above, select:

Upload Music in the Top Set of Options.

Put it on my Profile in the Bottom Set of Options.

    Then hit the Button.

The Imeem Browse Window will come up as shown below:

Click on the gray < Browse > Button and find an MP3 Music File on your Hard Drive.
When done, click on the < Open > Button on the "Select File ..." Dialog Box.

Near the Bottom, click the Blue Button which states < Start Upload >

Once your MP3 File has been uploaded, the "Finish Upload Window will come up as
    shown below:

Before you can complete your upload, you have to click on "Select a Genre". A Menu
will open to assign your uploaded Song as Rock, Jazz, Pop, etc. Select any One you like.

When done, click on Button #4, < Finish Upload >

Now wait anywhere from 15 Minutes to an Hour, and the Song will have been uploaded
    to your Imeem Profile.

When done uploading, close the Window at the far top right.

    Create Music/Audio Playlist

Go to your Music Playlist by clicking here: Create Music Playlist

In the Example above, you will see the uploaded Song along with a couple
of other ones in a Folder called "Uploaded Music" which is under the
    "My Stuff" Category.

Next, we need to make a 'Playlist'. Click on the < New > Button at the
Bottom left and another small Window will come up called:
    Save New Playlist.

Enter anything into the "Title" and "Description" Field as you like. When done,
click on the < Save > Button. Your first Playlist has been completed.

Now click on your "Uploaded Music" Folder to select it as shown below.

Now "drag" any Songs you have uploaded from your "Uploaded Music"
Folder to your new Playlist Folder, and as in the Example above, to the
    "Hard Rock" Folder.

When done, click on your new Playlist, and as in the Example below, on
your "Hard Rock" Folder to highlight it.

You can also remove Songs by clicking the "X" at the far right on the
same Line as your Song, if you later decide to keep it off your Playlist.
Likewise, you can at any time add more Songs by 'dragging' them from
your "Uploaded Music" Folder to your Playlist Folder.

When all done, click the < View Playlist > Button as shown above.

Your completed Playlist Window will come up and show you exactly
what will end up being played from your POF Profile as shown below.

Here you can also organize, delete, play, etc. your Playlist.

Click the Text in the Embed: Box at the bottom left of the Example above to highlight it,
then right-click with your Mouse over it, then click < Copy > on the Context Menu.

Now Paste that "Code" into your POF Profile Music Section as shown in the Example below.
When done click on < Save Music >

You can add music to your profile by entering your Imeem embed code below. Some help here

    Pretty cool! Well, sort of...
I'm only getting 3o secs of my song though ...and that's a Far Cry.

Now if you can somehow get the whole song to play that would be really be cool... :)
