IM turns me off.
Posted: 5/27/2009 11:20:14 AM
Email a couple of times, then use IM to see if you chat easily and then arrange to meet if you do.
The system worked well and didn't give away personal details like your MSN address for the shy or nervous.

I do like to get the measure of how easily I click with someone on an instant chat before I meet, can't do that with Email.

New Feature: Top Row of Pictures on Profiles Changing ( Bad Idea )
Posted: 5/27/2009 11:12:48 AM
I find it great that you can now hover your mouse over someone and get an idea if their for you without clicking their profile and letting them see you visited, very handy for those that change pics too because you may have already been there once
Why the top row changes tho I don't know, very annoying.
Saw two I wanted to check out and by the time I'd read the first the second had gone.
Also up the hover time delay, the screen goes nuts when you just scroll around.

While we're on IM, some users still show as having it, those who paid but clicking it takes you to your history with them, ummmm

Could humans born on the moon adapt to earth?
Posted: 5/26/2009 1:00:39 PM
Send someone used to sea level to a mountain and they have trouble breathing, yet those born there have very few issues, their blood cell count is far higher.
The human body will adapt in what ever way best suits it.
Athletes don't have muscular bodies just because they want them, the body realises the tasks it's being asked to perform and adapts to perform whats required, the one that adapts best wins the gold.
Likewise a body thats having little effort asked from it won't waste it's resources maintaining powerful muscles and bones.
If you spend your entire life playing warcraft thats one thing, sit in space for a while and the body will tune it's self to the effort required no matter how strong you were before.

A baby born in space, would stand little chance after a while unless you do a reverse dive ascent and bring them back slowly. Being born on the moon with it's 6th earth gravity would infact give you a better chance than the zero gravity of orbit.

I wouldn't be surprised if a requirement of future deep space exploration was a stay on the moon before your return to earth as a reintroduction to gravity.

Why Can't Airplanes Take-off/Land In Fog.
Posted: 5/26/2009 12:26:22 PM
A bit of necromancy, nice

In relation to the outcry at Heathrow a while back during the fog and the canceled flights the answer is simple, tho it doesn't help, I was also stuck in T2 sleeping on a hard floor.

Heathrow have landings closer together than just about any other airport in the world, it's that busy. When foggy it's the rules the distance between planes must double. Hence you only get half the number in and out.
However landing is still a doddle at a modern airport like this with modern aircraft.
Most pilots choose to override the AP just before touch down just because they like the challenge and it's a bit smoother.

The BIG! issue is once their down, the tower can't see them, and they can't see anything else.
getting lost, running off a perry track or worse hitting something is a real possibility.

who races radio controlled trucks or cars
Posted: 5/26/2009 12:18:19 PM
Raced rc cars for years and won a fair few seasons, but got bored as Team Money started to win over pure skill, and the tantrums I used to put up with when they lost was too much. When I was looking at £400 a season just to remain competitive I decided to jack it.

Now just fly planes and do a bit of show flying. Love the slope gliding tho, very "zen" on the right days.

Do men like it when women contact them first?
Posted: 5/25/2009 3:42:34 PM
I've only sent 4 or 5 messages since joining last year.
The first I felt compelled to reading the profile, and it did lead to a short relationship.
Sine then they've simply gone unanswered or not bothered replying after the obligatory "being nice and replying" reply. ( too many replies in that sentence alone )

It's more a case now of not wanting to be rejected again.
I don't just randomly message away because a girl viewed me, or I liked their picture or I think I'll just try my luck and message 10 at once with a universal chat up line. Thats like wandering around a bar and hitting on every girl in descending order till one says yes, and I've never done that either.

I like it when a girl messages me, because at least I know she's shown an interest in me and I know where I stand.
I know it'll lower the chances of me finding the one, but it does mean when I do message, I've put some thought in to it.

Teen girls useing Welfare to have babies
Posted: 5/25/2009 3:30:56 PM
Around my area it's almost a lifestyle choice to get pregnant in the last year of school and be given your free council house then never do anything ever again.
Unless you want a bigger house then you need to get pregnant again.

It's been a problem for so long we're now into social grand children with 3 or 4 generations of family's living off the state never having lifted a finger.
I do have a few friends who have pulled themselves out of this and are ashamed of their families, but their the rare ones.

It can only go on for so long before the number of people paying taxes and not being able to afford to have many if any kids can't support the growing numbers.

The social security was set up with the best intentions, to help when things got tough, but that was in a time when it was used correctly.
It's existence has created it's own downfall, and it's civil servants don't help.
When I lost my job and was trying to find another they didn't want to know, I got no help and in fact even given grief for taking a job slip to them for more information!
Had I been looking to live on the social they wouldn't of been more helpful.

Why Plenty of Fish?
Posted: 5/25/2009 3:18:10 PM
I was told theres free cookies, wheres my cookies?

Ok, I guess because first it's free and does have a lot of people here, in my area too which makes a change.
And theres a lot of features even pay sites don't have to help you find out who your talking to and if you match.

I'm here looking for a serious relationship, which starts as friends and dating of course.
I've made a few friends tho which is good and seems just helped to hook up someone who messaged me by mistake and is now a good friend.
Makes you fee all warm and fuzzy doesn't it

Deal breakers, someone i just don't gel with or mucks me around.

luvnlife2
is that negative stuff?
i don't want smokers, their disgusting, tho that does come from another site where you can't choose to block those people so it made it into this profile too
i don't want a ready made family so i put no kids please, blocking people with kids isn't an option, so no need to waste peoples time or hurt them by saying no thanks once they plucked up the courage to send a message.
ironically the last couple of messages have come from girls with kids, but to say they like my profile and felt they had to say so and wish me luck. one said girls that don't message me are clearly dipsticks

won't be paying for the yellow dot, nope i won't, why should i
but i passed the test it asked if i wanted to take
if girls want an honest guy thats means what he says why not put that?
on most other sites that make you join to send mails and things it's the norm to put your not paying to meet people, so mail me etc maybe thats only considered rude here?
profiles with "just ask" are pretty lazy tho.

anjelic
only people that should be offended by that are dim silly girly bimbos with huge breasts falling out their top, if you don't match that description, please don't take offense :D
and if you do take offense, don't message me lol

juicy
much more like it thanks but you've lost me with the bodybuilder.
the whole point is i'm not a bad boy, not a chav, don't drive a saxo with half the contents of halfords bolted on and don't treat women like crap or mear objects to be displayed. so it quite simply says if you want that click next
and to me thats what my profile is, it's a filter to weed out girls i'm not interested in, i don't want everyone to like it or think i'm the guy for them, i'm not and their not.
but i'd like it to appeal to the ones that are more, or maybe we are just over run with social for life chav scum down here and those girls don't exist in my area, or have already been snapped up and cherished as rare and precious objects

i do like to be blunt/straight forward, or should i say honest, i'm the type of guy that'll tell a friend if her ass looks big in that, and i had to tell one girl i'd only just met the other week that if she considered those to be muffin tops i'd want my money back! tho thats a positive
i am just a little too honest most of the time tho, learning to keep stum is something i'm working on.
but when i compliment someone they know i mean it.

anyway, just got this message...

ok can i be honest....i love your pics...i think they are great..and i liked your profile...the honesty was great..and altho i didnt fit what you wanted...i still wanted to write you a message...guess was intrigued...so i dont feel you need to change it...but its up to you x

last one on the pics, those are the only decent pictures of my face i have, theres few pics of me because i'm the one with the camera, the rest are either like the others, or just a daft expression, and not in a good way :D

anymore helpful suggestions? think i'll look at sorting out the chop, maybe try and be a little less offensive to our gravity challenged friends ;) but the smokers deserve all they get.

ah, more helpful stuff while i was typing, thanks, will read that quickly and get back to ya

i did make a point of saying typical big chested bimbo, although large boobs do nothing for me anyway the point was barbie girl bimbo.

which pic would you choose? i kinda liked that one as did other good female friends of mine, tho the scowls not great, was the pizza one before, and the bridge before that.

negitivity, what and where? things like no smokers, not arrgorant and bimbo types i can see.
but i don't want want those attributes so put it to save wasting peoples time.
your either going to be offended if you think thats you, in which case.. good, or think thank god, someone whos looking for me and not those orange creatures eating chips outside nortons.
is there a nice way of saying i'm not a camborne chavvy **** and i don't want some camborne slapper?
just tonight i got a message saying it's refreshing to see someone so honest in their profile and i come across as a great guy, so have it got it right or wrong?

don't read any negativity in the first part, tho granted it's been chopped a bit as i've added and trimmed it over time.

could do with some suggestions as what gets your goat and how to word it differently rather than just saying, nah, your an ass, it's all rubbish.
doesn't really help does it :(

i is always in my blind spot when it comes to proofreading, years of bad habbit:(
and just chatting like this i never use it, your lucky you get any punctuation :D
considering just what profiles i've seen the odd i is nothing, and would i want a girl thats so picky? had enough of that with my ex :(

which part of my profile comes across as shy/arrogant? didn't realise you could be both at once :(
any advice for what i can change??

i don't IM anyone, and even when that feature was active i only did it once a few mails had been sent and we seemed to get on well, and if the chat went well then maybe give out a messenger address.

i'm as guilty as anyone else for looking at profiles and even if perfect not doing anything, too shy, nervous, think they'd say no anyway or plain ole don't want to have loads "on the go" at once if i was to message everyone that took my eye.
but i do send out messages sometimes, so you'd think after 7 months here i'd have a few more from girls doing the same.
the ones i do get from girls who admit they aren't my type because of kids or something all say i seem a real nice honest guy, will make a good catch etc

so whats attracting girls that are looking to settle down with a nice guy and their family thats putting off single girls looking for a boyfriend and to maybe start a family one day?

is it the old cliché single young girls all want a bad boy

hi peeps
i'm getting views but the only messages i seem to get are from girls that don't match what i'm looking for ( so, they don't read the profile then... ) or the odd carpet bomber.
the first line will be going in a few days when the internets sorted
i do try and get across that i'm a bit different to the typical lads in this area ( trust me, we have a rep, as do the girls! ) and i am a little geeky afterll.
worse than not getting messages would be to get one, chat with a great girl then her go off me because she thought i was something else.
i have just removed a few lines in my first date section about things i wouldn't want to do, i guess any negative is a bad thing.

anyway, any pointers?
thanks, phil
