What is your biggest turn off with the opposite sex?
Posted:

Well Natasha I agree with you on most points. I can understand that you dressing up for a date is great. First impressions and all.
And I agree the gent should put in the extra effort as well. But there is a caveat and it's really to do with Men's thinking. I am an older fellow and only have REALLY dated two woman, one whom I married and was with for 19 years.
And to be honest, I have no idea what "dressing up" for the 00 guy is now.
First casual was casual and dressing up ment a suite and tie. Then jeans became acceptable as dressing up. Then came "if you make over XX dollars, wear a suit".
Now I am at a loss to what dressing up is.
It's kinda like clubs nowadays. I would never go to one again. Last one I went to I asked a lady to dance, and couldn't figure out when the freaking dance stopped. Nearly had a heart attack. LOL.
Being a 40 year old man in today's dating scene, you need a scorecard and a thesauras.

Just looked over you post divine, interesting, very interesting. I see something that I do find rare on here. You took the time to reply with
"I am one of the forum ppl and I always check out profiles of ppl who make a post, sorry, however, not interested....good luck in your search!"
Now if I was receive this my response would be
"Thankyou for replying and being honest, I hope to converse more with you in the forums in the future. Have a great day :)"
That is what I like to see. A nice response from a lady with a thanks, but no thanks, and good luck. Nothing fancy.
Now if a guy replies to you asking you why your not interested, it's a waste of his time. He should move on. It's like being at a bar and asking a woman to dance, if she says no thanks, then nod your head and move on, don't start begging for more information. You ain't a survey taker, and your probably gonna P** off her 200 lb boyfriend who's willing to pound you into mush. Or your gonna sooner or later run into Bob the Bouncer who will give you a introduction into an interesting peice of pavement.
I don't ask much, just a polite reply. Just like you did.
Kudos.
P.S. If they don't take the hint, send them a polite reply again with the abbreviation P.F.O.

How to deal with a separation?
Posted:

But here is an interesting question, what do you do if the other parent is using them as ammunition? For example, giving the kids that they have everything but the ones that she doesn't have nothing?

How do you deal with a separation? The Kids? The lonliness? Do you start dating right away or wait? How do you deal with the ex regarding issues that may come up? How do you deal with fustration? How do you handle the kids feelings about the separation? What do you tell your kids?
I just want to see how other people deal with these issues.

I just don't go to bars. 1) when I did go to bars, they were bars for meeting people, not picking up the latest high and 2) you could actually ask someone to dance, and KNOW when the dance was over cause the song ended. LOL

I agree about the value. When I started working in the industry, I had certs but the only experiance with some of them were on my own home network. I knew my stuff, but without practical experiance it's hard to find employment. I was lucky enough to do some work when I was in the military that went towards my experiance.

You know something, it seems that as we get older, both men and women, the job seems to be the common thread. Everybody wants someone who at least has A job, not the perfect job, or the high paying job, just A job.

Well men do have there screening processes. Your right, they are shallow. I have been known to resort to them when I was younger. But I think most men as they grow older change what they are looking for in women.

LOL Sure,
I am just not a goodtime guy. Maybe it's me, maybe it's the dating scene when I was a kid. Sure we all tried to "Get Lucky" but once you did, you usually stayed with the same girl.
I don't get it nowadays. Sure, I'll admit it, I have had one or two one night stands, I've done my share of "uncommon" things. But at this point in my life I am looking for more than a good lay (not that that's not a consideration).

That's exactly what I was getting at. It's not to say that I am macho (cause if you noticed, I ain't even near buff enough), it's to say that alot of men think of themselves as macho. At least with the guys I used to hang around with when I was in the forces.

Hi lovevampy2, here's a little story.
As a young teenager I was picked on quite a bit. I turned the other cheek all the time. I just got picked on more because of it.
When I turned 15 we moved from Halifax to Victoria. I started high school. Three days into high school I was picked on by another student. I finally decided that that was enough for me.
He said "Do you want to go for it here and now"
I said "Sure!" And smacked him accross the beak. Bloodied his nose. Three day suspension.
My mother laughed her ass off when she found out.
But I NEVER got picked on again.

What do men really want???
Posted:
1/3/2009 5:35:23 AM
Well I agree and disagree on a few points.
Most men are uncomfortable telling woman what they want.
It's a macho thing.
I find most men want someone who desires them as much as they desire the other person.
Men want strong woman, but with the ability to depend on others for some things.
Now here's the blunt part.
Men, yes this is true, want good sex. Men do enjoy the tender love making sessions, but Men also want woman to be agressive at times. You need to find a comfortable balance. Men want women to find a tactful way of telling them if there doing something wrong. Most men want to know what a woman wants. No hints, no nudges nothing of the sort. Just say "It would be nice to have flowers once in awhile". "It would be nice if we could go out to a movie.". "It would be nice if you took out the damn garbage". Men don't like guessing games. Women do not, I say again, do NOT have the ability to use the Jedi Mind Trick!.
Most men want to touch. Snuggle, enjoy the feel and smell of there partner. Most men don't want you to be attached at the hip. Men want some time out with the boys. If a Man wants this but doesn't want you to have time out with the girls, then he's an idiot.
Most men want intelligent woman. If there dating Barbie, then there not in a relationship. They just want someone they can beat at crazy 8's.
Yes it's true, some Men wish to be controlling. That means there insecure. Put that one on the Idiot list. I have a hard enough time controlling my own life, I sure the heck don't need to control two. Remember the Serenity Prayer.
Now look what I've done. Now I seem to have a craving for Dr. Phil......

I agree that everyone is superficial at some point. I don't mind taking a lady out on a date and paying for it. That's the gentleman in me.
But when the person starts hitting you up for rent, food money etc.. it gets a bit irritating, if you don't live with them.
Now if your living together, it should be 50-50.
I spent 19 years supporting someone who didn't really want to find a job for her capabilites and only worked occasionaly.
I find most woman that excel in there careers are very strong women. And beleive it or not I find that attractive.
It could be considered weird.. but that's just me.
