Mt Warning Climb May 3 2009

I'm a 'Tweed Girl' from way back, and climbing Mt Warning was one of the rites of passage when I was a young girl. I did it three times, and yes, we started the climb about 3am to get to the top for the sunrise. Sadly, the third time I slipped on a rock slide on the way down and slipped about a third of the way down on my poor backside! No harm done except to my pride.

Why lie about your age?

Okay, I have to admit it. I don't love being in my fifties. So I refuse to be. I don't actually LIE about my age - I just tell 'em I'm forty sixteen

I was visiting my son and my grandchildren were off to bed. The girls kissed me goodnight, but Damian didn't want to know. His dad asked him "why won't you give Grandma a goodnight kiss?"
His reply...?
"She's got OLD lips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Funny pick up lines

I was being pestered at a dance by a rather persistent chap who asked for my number. I told him 'It's in the phone book'. He asked me my name. I told him 'That's in the phone book too'.
A friend told me she has some stock answers to the tired old question 'What's your sign?" Depending on how much she likes the guy, she may tell him 'Yield' or 'Stop' or 'Caution'.

Funny pick up lines

It was a very long time ago - but worked perfectly. I really fancied a guy who was friends with my neighbours. He went to their place for dinner, and we arranged that they would come to my place for a game of Trivial Pursuit afterwards. The game went on forever, and we then had coffee, but my friends seemed to make no move to leave, and I didn't know how I was going to get this guy alone. Eventually, I stretched and yawned, and said, "Well, it's really late, and I think it's time for everyone to go home to bed.........NOT YOU!" and pointed right at the guy I liked. Yes, he stayed all night - we talked until 3am, then I went to bed and he slept on the couch - really. That relationship lasted about 3-4 years!

Don’t go for looks; they can deceive
Don’t go for wealth; even that fades away
Go for someone who makes you smile
Because it only takes a smile to make a dark day seem bright

What is Christmas to you?
Posted:

Well, maybe I'm one of the minority here. But for me Christmas really is about honouring the birth of Jesus. I could live without the parties, and the presents and the drinking, but I couldn't do Christmas without going to church on Christmas morning, and starting the day honouring him.
But I do also love the hype. I had a deprived parenthood. I was a single mum to my three boys. They loved to sleep. Not once - NEVER- did my boys ever come into my room early on Christmas morning, jump up and down excitedly on my bed and scream out WAKE UP IT'S CHRISTMAS!!. No - our famly Christmas was more along the lines of .....I wake up and think - ITS CHRISTMAS!. Make a cup of coffee - check the kids - no, still sleeping. Drink my coffee - make my bed - check the kids - still sleeping. Prepare a nice Christmassy breakfast for the boys - check the kids - still sleeping. Get ready for church (once they were old enough to leave alone) - check the kids - still sleeping. Get home from church - check the boys - still sleeping. Sneak into their bedrooms, jump up on their beds and scream out WAKE UP IT'S CHRISTMAS!!! Now my boys are all grown up with kids of their own - I wish they were kids again just for that day.

Impartial review of my profile please?

A woman's point of view? I agree with the comment about 'bold'. It is difficult and almost looks like you're shouting. Last comment saying nothing was good about it. Totally wrong. Your profile is great. It tells who you are, who you're looking for, and most important, who you're NOT looking for. And congratulations on spelling/grammar. Nice to see and it does make a difference to how you are perceived.
Good luck.

A Fairy Tale for the Assertive Woman
Once upon a time, in a land far away, a beautiful, independent, self-assured princess happened upon a frog as she sat contemplating ecological issues on the shores of an unpolluted pond in a verdant meadow near her castle.
The frog hopped into the Princess’ lap and said, “Elegant Lady, I was once a handsome prince, until an evil witch cast a spell upon me. One kiss from you, however, and I will turn back into the dapper young Prince that I am and then, my sweet, we can marry and set up housekeeping in yon castle with my Mother, where you can prepare my meals, clean my clothes, bear my children, and forever feel grateful and happy doing so.
That night, while dining on lightly sautéed frog legs seasoned in a white wine and onion cream sauce, she chuckled to herself and thought…..
“I don’t ***ing think so!”
