Song Lyric: Count My Days(Christian religious content warning)
Posted: 1/4/2006 9:32:17 PM
I wrote this awhile back and thought I'd post it here. Hope it touches someone.

Today seemed just another day

Like all the rest have been

Like tomorrow and the next day

Are going to be again.

Now it's gone beyond recovery

Never to return.

After all the days I've lived this way

You'd think that I would learn

How to count my days

How to make them matter.

How to live them for my King.

How to give Him my everything.

To watch and pray.

And live as if He was coming today.

Teach me to number my days.

Days, months and years

It seems they went so fast.

What I thought of as the future

Is too suddenly the past

And still I waste my precious days

Living them for me.

After all the messes I have made

You'd think that I would see

How to count my days

Make them matter.

How to live them for my Lord

Give Him all that He died for

To watch and wait

Just as if He was coming today

Jesus, teach me to number my days.

This life I live

Lasts a moment and has passed.

A vapor in the wind

Fading like the dying grass.

It's seems there's so much to do

And I'm running out of time.

Lord teach me how to use what's left

To put you first in my life.

Take my days

Make them matter

Use them for your glory, Lord.

Teach me to love You more.

To live each day

As if You could come in the next breath I take.

Jesus teach me to number my days.

Anti-black Racism in Religion!
Posted: 1/4/2006 9:12:46 PM
First, I don't believe Jesus was a member of any race we know on this earth. He was the supernaturally created son of God Almighty. He was born of a woman, but he was the son of God, created like Adam without a mother. He was created an embryo and placed in Mary's womb to grow.
Second, as far as his color goes, who cares? Jesus Christ died for my sins whether he was black, white, red, brown or yellow and that is all that matters. His blood was the very blood of God, because God dwelt in him. The point is moot, but if Jesus was black in color, it wouldn't make any difference to me.
Not to change the subject, but why do colors matter so much to some people? I know there are people who look down on other Christians because of the color of their skin and its one of the stupidest things I've ever heard of! I've been in churches where most of the congregation was white, others where most of it was black, others where it was about evenly mixed and still others where it was literally all one or the other. All of them good Christians. All loving each other and God. So what's the big deal?

Speedy Rewards
Posted: 12/31/2005 7:58:05 PM
I'm not sure how widespread the Speedway gas stations are, so this is for those of you who live where they have them. Speedway has this point accumulation card called a Speedy Rewards card. And every time you walk up to the desk, they are REQUIRED BY COMPANY POLICY to ask "Do you have a Speedy Rewards card?" If not, they have to ask if you want one!
I don't know if it's the constant repetition, the name of the card, or the fact that I'm there all the time, but whatever it is, it's really annoying. I tell the attendants that I do not have Speedy Rewards, I do not want Speedy rewards, but no matter how many times I tell the same person the same thing, they ask me the same question.
So, does this tick anybody else off, or is it just me? And if there are any Speedway attendants out there, how do your customers react? For that matter, how do you feel about it?

Were the Disciples born again?
Posted: 12/18/2005 7:39:13 PM
I'll take a stab at this one. I can't quote exact scriptures, but I'm sure you can find the ones I'm talking about.

First off, it is impossible to be born again without the Holy Spirit. At the time Jesus walked on this earth, the fullness lived in Him. The disciples did not receive the Holy Ghost and a new birth until after Jesus paid for our sins. There is a place where Jesus told Peter, "When you are converted (transformed, changed, made into something new, born again) strengthen the brethren." They had been baptized by Jesus himself and given power over devils and sickness. They had been commissioned to preach the Word. But they had not been given power to overcome their own weaknesses.
At the time Jesus died, the disciples still had not been born again. We see this because they forsook Jesus in His hour of need. They hid, with the exception of John, while all this was taking place. After Jesus rose, some still doubted. When Jesus came to them, they thought He was a ghost.
The new birth came as Jesus promised when they received "power from on high" at Penetecost. After that, you can see the difference in their lives. These fearful, weak, faithless men were filled with the power of God, the spirit that was in Christ, and were reborn, converted, into Christians. And they set the world on fire. Hope this helps.

Are pets as important as people?
Posted: 12/18/2005 7:18:42 PM
There is no such thing as loving someone, be it animal or human, "too much". One can't measure their love, on different levels....in relation to whether they are human or animal. Animals have a soul...just like the rest of us. Because they have less intellectual capacity than that of humans, does not make them any less worthy of our total and undying love.

I have to disagree. Animals do not have souls. If someone likes animals, that's fine, but any time animals take precedent over people, it is wrong.

NO animal is as important or more important than ANY human being EVER.
(sorry for the caps, I'm not sure if the forum uses italics)

We love animals so much because there is an innate nurturing instinct in most of us. Unfortunately, a lot of people's runs out when the animal is no longer cute and cuddly.

Yes, some people care about pets more than their own family and kind and it is WRONG! That from personal experience.

When you begin to think of an animal in the same way you think of a human being, you "loving" too much. People are people and animals are animals.

Don't get it in your mind that I hate animals. I just have had too much experience with them. I like animals and most of them like me. I just believe that it is wrong to put them on the same level as humans.

Blonde shopping
Posted: 12/9/2005 7:11:23 PM
One day a blonde walked into an electronics store looking for a television. She glanced over their selection and picked one she liked. She tapped a salesman.
"I'll take that TV right there." She said, pointing to the one she wanted.
The salesman smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry, Miss, but we don't serve blondes."
Stunned and angry, the blonde left the shop. The more she thought about it the madder she got and the more determined to get that TV from that shop. So, she bought a bottle of Brainy Brunette hair coloring and colored her hair that night.
The next day she went back and tapped a different sales clerk, a woman.
"I'd like one of those TVs, please." She said.
The saleslady smiled apologetically. "Sorry, honey." She said, "We don't sell to blondes."
Surprised, angry and humiliated, the blonde went home. The more she thought about it the madder she got and the more determined to get one of those TVs from that store. That night she sheared her blonde hair off with clippers and shaved her head smooth as billiard ball. The next day she went back to the store and this time she tapped the manager of the store.
"Sir, I want one of those TVs over there." She said, pointing to the rack.
The manager smiled politely. "I'm sorry, ma'am, but we don't market to blondes."
The blonde hit the roof.
"Awright!" She screamed at the manager. "Nobody here will sell to me, I dyed my hair, I shaved my head and I'm wearing a scarf over it! How on earth do you know I'm blonde?"
The manager smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry, miss...but those are our microwave ovens."

sexist jokes (all in fun)
Posted: 12/6/2005 4:57:00 PM
I don't like chicken jokes. I like woman jokes they're more fun. And my friends, they keep me constantly supplied with material without even meaning to. Like the other day I asked this guy, "Hey, why'd the woman cross the road?"
He gives me this totally blank look and says, "What was she doing out of the kitchen?"

My Joke Thread.
Posted: 12/5/2005 8:09:56 PM
An American went to live in the Shetland Islands. He bought a little house in the middle of nowhere and for six months he didn't see a living soul.
One night he was sitting all alone in his house while a howling gale was blowing outside when he heard a knock at the door.
He opened the door and on his doorstep stood a six foot six inch Shetlander in a cap and wool sweater with a big, black, bushy beard.
"I come to welcome thee to the Shetlands."
"Well, h-hi!" The American stammered, "Nice t'see ya."
The Shetlander grinned, displaying a mouthful of yellow-brown teeth. "I come to invite thee to a party." He said, "there's gonna be drinkin'-"
"Fine, fine, I can hold my own with the best of 'em for drinking."
"And there'll be dancin'!"
"Well, in college I was considered very light on my feet."
"Aye, there'll be wild, hairy-arsed Shetland dancin'! And a fight! There's always a fight!"
"Well, when I was in the Army I was our unit boxing champion-"
"And there's gonna be sex! Wild Shetland sex!"
The American couldn't believe his luck. "Well, I've been here six months and ain't seen a soul, a little of that wouldn't be out of the question!"
"Let's be off, then!"
"Wait a second, what should I wear?"
"Oh, come as ye are, it's just goin' to be you and me!"

Mine are slightly crooked, makes it hard to type and play musical instruments. If it is a native trait, it would make sense, there is native in my background.
