Actual Auto Insurance Statements
Posted:

I personally know the people that these happened to.
One was a fellow bus driver who actually wrote in his accident report that the tree limb jumped out in front of him.
The other was a friend of mine. He got in his car one morning, put it in gear. When it wouldn't move, he realized that it was low in transmission fluid. He got out (forgetting to put it in park) and began filling the transmission. Needless to say, the transmission kicked in and the car began to back up.... straight into a friends classic car. Because of the value of the classic car, he had to report the occurence to his insurance company. The representative asked him who was driving the first car.
He answers, "Nobody."
"Ok, who was in the other car."
Again he answers, "Nobody."
"Ummm.... just where were you when the cars collided?"
"Holding onto the bumper, being drug with it while yelling, 'STOOOOOOPPPP!!!'"

crying on the curb
Posted:
8/8/2007 2:17:47 PM
One day God decided to take a stroll through a major city.
Before long, he comes across a young man sitting on a curb crying. God asks him why he's crying. The man replies, "Lord, I've been blind my whole life and have never been able to see a sunset." God heals the mans vision and they both spend time dancing for joy. God continues walking.
Soon, he comes across another man sitting on the curb crying. God asks him why he's crying. The man responds, "Lord, I've been lame my entire life and have never known the joy of running, walking or dancing." God instantly heals him. Again, a large amount of time is spent jumping and dancing for joy.
God continues his stroll. Before long, He sees another man sitting quietly with tears streaming down his face. God asks him why he's crying. The man, using sign language, responds , "Lord, I've been mute my entire life and have never had the joy of singing a song." God instantly heals him. Several hours are spent singing songs to each other.
God continues His stroll. He comes across yet another man sitting on the curb crying. God asks him why he's crying. He responds, "Lord, I work for the public school system." So God sits down beside him and starts crying too.

Your Gift

YOUR GIFT
We beat them, slapped them, cussed and bruised them
We've ignored them, mocked them, lusted and abused them
They were your gift
So we wouldn't be alone
But we've slapped you
By treating them oh so wrong
We've put them on stages
And told them to dance
We give them our money
Instead of romance
We should cherish
Honor and protect
Instead we are vile
Many lives we have wrecked
Lord, I stand before you
My head hung low in shame
For everything that is corrupted
We alone are to blame
Lord, you created us
You placed us as Kings
But in our selfish ego
We've dishonored your Queens
Father, forgive us
Create in us a new heart
Sanctify us in your mercy
From our sin, set us apart
Guide us in Your way
Teach us how we should go
To value your gift
The women you gave us to know

There is also Foleyville Texas... nothing very unusual about the name, but the population is 8. And yes, there is only one city limit sign. Deadwood is another Texas town. They have a sign that actually says "Welcome to Deadwood. Home of 101 very happy people and one old grouch!"

Best ever lines from sitcoms....?
Posted:
7/5/2007 9:47:57 PM
This line is actually from an old black and white movie called "War of the Wildcats".
A young John Wayne jumps on a train out in the middle of a desert. He is sitting in a seat pretending to be asleep. Another man is trying to put the moves on a real pretty blonde woman. He says to her, "Sometimes you just have to leap first and look later." John Wayne lifts his hat and says in obviously faked innocence, "Thats what happened to my horse. He broke his neck."

Should a preacher meet tougher standards?
Posted:
7/5/2007 9:30:28 PM
First of all, I know I'm showing my ignorance here...but just what the heck does FWB stand for? I can usually figure this kind of stuff out, but this one has me stumped.
Now then....should a preacher be held to a higher standard?
Preachers are men or women just like all the rest of us. They face the exact same temptations that we all face. They are subject to falling for the same sins we are all subject to falling for. Does this excuse bad behavior? Of course not. What this does do is point out their need for honest self examination. Jesus said it best, "If you will judge yourself, you shall therefore not be judged. " . They should recognize their weakness and set up a network of a few trusted people to whom they submit, that will hold them accountable and keep them on the right path. Then again, that is what we all need. Perhaps the question we should be asking is, "Should we hold ourselves to a standard as high or higher than the one we wish to hold preachers to".
I truly believe that a preacher struggling with some sin (provided he is honest about his sinfullness) does not grieve the heart of God anywhere near as much as a preacher (or anyone who calls themself Christian) looking down their nose at another person. God reminds me constantly that He loves, values, and cherish's the meth addicted prostitute walking the street everybit as much as He does me.

whats wrong with my car?
Posted:
7/5/2007 8:57:43 PM
I don't know if you have it in Canada, but there is something here in the southern US called TransX. It's an additive that you put in your transmission. Supposedly it tightens the bands inside of your transmission and makes them last longer before having to be repaired. One guy told me that he had a transmission go bad and everyone told him it had to be replaced. He used this stuff instead and put another 20,000 miles on it. I have no personal experience with the stuff, but it is something you might consider. I would try it after the filter change.
There is also something on the side (at least it was on the chevy nova I worked on) of your transmission called a modulator valve. If it goes bad, it can mess up your shifting too. If all else fails, perhaps you could get a used transmission at a wrecking yard. One tip on that is look for cars that are actually wrecked. That way you know it was at least running when it was parked.
I know what it's like to have no money and a sick car, so I certainly wish you the best.

Liz Edwards Ann Coulter spat
Posted:

Hmmm... after scanning through the posts on this forum, I've come to the conclusion that Glenn Beck is right. It's time we all stopped letting ourselves be manipulated by our party... whichever it is... and start being Americans again.
They have taught us to hate each other so they can control us. Thier greatest fear is that we become united and remember that they work for us, not the other way around. I would be willling to bet that none of us are personal friends of the Edwards, Coulter, Maher, or any of the other political people mentioned here. Why then, do any of us feel it neccessary to defend and/or attack them? Unless, that is, we have been brainwashed and manipulated by them all.
Just a thought.

Single Dads......How well do you cook for the kids?

My cooking taste just like my moms, which is why the kids get excited everytime we are invited over to someone else's house to eat. LOL
I just recently discovered the joys of a crock-pot and I must say it has helped make our house a much healthier one. We have lots fewer tv dinners and more real veges. Of course, when all else fails, it's Ramen Noodles to the rescue. I'm suprised their motto isn't "Keeping unmarried men alive for over 50 years!" ha ha.

Have you ever been mistaken for someone else?
Posted:

I had an interesting one tonight. When I got home from work there was a message on my answering machine about doing some painting work for a lady. There is another guy in town with my exact name who owns a construction company, so I've already gotten several calls like this. He and I attended the same church for a while, so I actually know him. The first time I went there, people would look at me so funny when I told them my name. I almost wanted to check my zipper..lol. What is even funnier is, I used to work with the woman who left the message.
I'm just glad we haven't been confused with the other guy in town with our name... he's a sexual predator.

I know two guys who looked so much alike that when one went into a restaurant, with his girlfriend, where the other ones wife worked, she thought it was her husband cheating on her. She confronted him, and asked what in the world he was doing in there with her. She was on the verge of hitting him upside the head with a pot of hot coffee before she finally realized it was not her husband. I got to know both of these men and it was eerie how much they looked alike.

Abraham's decision and yours, in the same situation.
Posted:
6/3/2006 8:58:02 PM
The reason was for it was the establishing of an expanded covenant boundry. Upping the anty if you will.
As far as satan trying to trick you, I've learned from my own experience that the more I get to know God, the more I'm able to recognize His voice. After all, after you've known someone long enough, don't you begin to recognize their voice. Abraham had enough experience with God at that point to know the difference.

My take on this isn't that God needed to know how faithful Abraham was. He already knew that. What He did need, was a man of covenant. In covenant, you have to always be willing to take things a step farther in the benefit of the person your in covenant with than the other person has already done for you. Because Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son for God, God was able to actually sacrifice His Son for man. (If only we could set aside our weakened western mindset when reading the bible.)
You also have to consider that Abraham knew that sacrificing Isaac wasn't going to be the end of Isaac.
Hebrews 11:17. By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
18. Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
19. Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
At this point in his life, Abraham knew the God he had covenant with. He knew that He could not lie. God had promised him that it was through Isaac that Abraham would become the "father of many nations". Because Abraham saw Isaac raised from the dead in his mind, God was able to see Jesus actually raised from the dead in reality.
In answer to your question... under the same circumstances, with the same experiences in my covenant with God that Abraham had, I would do exactly as Abraham did. At least, I hope I would.

Has anyone read the Satanic Bible? What did you really think of it?
Posted:
6/3/2006 8:03:22 PM
I've never read the satanic bible. I have no desire to do so... too busy doing other things.
However, a friend of mine told me he read it once. He used to be a satanist. He told me he actually thought it was boring and was unable to finish it. He wasn't won over to Christianity by anything he read or anything anyone preached to him. He was won over by the prayers of his mom and later, after she got saved, his wife. He was also a hard-core drug addict. He'd been through the 12 step programs etc. The moment he accepted Christ, he felt the hand of God reach in and pull those addictions out of him. He sobered up in an instant. He's been clean ever since. That was over 15 years ago. He also said that his wife, who was in another room crying her eyes out because of him, heard angels singing.

What are your thoughts on this Biblical passage?
Posted:
6/3/2006 7:41:20 PM
My thoughts on this passage....
God is basically saying, "Hey, I designed the system you live in. I know exactly how it works. Because I love you as much as I do, I've given you my instructions for your life. However, I gave you free will and allow you to choose. If you wish to do things in a way other than I tell you, fine. Just don't come crying to me when things fall apart in the end."
It's kind of like Chevrolet sending me a letter saying, "Hey, we designed the car you are driving. We know exactly how it functions. We know what works and what doesn't. However, it is your car, you are in charge of it. If you want to put oil in the radiator, go ahead. Just don't come crying when we void the warranty because of your insisted ignorance."

The Bermuda triangle and Devils Party (INXS)
Posted:

Perhaps the problem is that everyone is looking for a single cause. What if there are actually many causes. Methane gas, electrical disturbances, heck, I'll even go so far as to consider some of the inter-dimensional theories. I realize that sounds totally far-fetched, but in all honesty, we don't know anywhere near as much about how the universe works as we like to pretend we do.
Here's a new theory for everyone to consider... what if bigfoot found a way to hypnotize the loch ness monster into destroying all those ships???? ha ha ha JK everyone

I saw a documentary once that had a theory that made a lot of sense. They concluded that there are giant pockets of methane gas under the ocean. If that pocket opens up while a ship is above it, it will pretty much annihilate the buoyancy of it. That ship will sink in a matter of seconds. Any of the old propeller driven planes engines are instantly shut off by the lack of oxygen. And the instruments of the newer jet planes are screwed up by it too. They will show that the plane is climbing when in reality it is descending. I think they also did an episode about that on "Mythbusters". If you've never watched that show, I highly recommend it.

Pitts.... I just had to email that to my daughters teachers. (One of which just got teacher of the year, a well earned recognition.)
Speaking of which.... I highly recommend my daughters school to anyone with a special needs child. It is a public school for nothing but special needs children. There are no tuition fees or anything like that. Anyone who would be willing/able to relocate to Panama City Florida, please contact me and I'll give you thier contact info.

how often can you forgive and does it makes sense?
Posted:
3/21/2006 7:56:57 PM
I'm mostly posting this so I can find this thread again later. I don't have time to read it all right now.
From the quick scan I did, I'm reminded of two things a pastor of mine once said.
"There is a world of difference between forgiving somone, and putting yourself in a position for them to hurt you again." The example he used was suppose someone stole money from you. Does forgiving them mean you have to lay your wallet out everytime they come around? Of course not.
"Don't confuse helping someone with helping them stay sorry." Sometimes the most loving thing you can do for a person is let them fall and hit rock bottom. Until they reach that point, many people will never begin to look up.

The point of tithing

I have a slightly different understanding of tithing than most. Be sure to read all of my post before thinking you know what I'm trying to say... or before casting stones at me for blaspheme LOL JK.
I have tithed and lacked. The church I used to attend was real big on tithing. Every payday, the first check I wrote was always my tithing check. True, I had food to eat and the necessaties of life...but only because I wasn't paying some of my debts. They kept getting farther and farther behind. I started looking around and noticed several people that I knew were faithful members of their church in the same position. I didn't dare stop tithing because I did not want to rob God (Malachi 3:10) yet, something just wasn't adding up.
One day I was reading Matthew 17: 24. And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received the half-shekel came to Peter, and said, Doth not your teacher pay the half-shekel?
25. He saith, Yea. And when he came into the house, Jesus spake first to him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? the kings of the earth, from whom do they receive toll or tribute? from their sons, or from strangers?
26. And when he said, From stangers, Jesus said unto him, Therefore the sons are free.
When I read that, I wasn't thinking about tithing or my debts or any of that. All of a sudden it jumped out at me. Malachi does not apply to me. The people he was addressing were servants of God (hince the reason they were under levitical law and I'm not). As a new testament Christian, I am a SON of God. True, I may act as a servant, but I am still a son. Because of the revelation I had at that time, I stopped tithing. I did so, not out of greed, but out of faith. Within a few months, the debts I had struggled with for years, were PAID OFF!!!
Later on, I began attending a different church. This church believes in tithing, but they don't beat you over the head with it. I began to feel that inner struggle again. (I now realize this is God's way of leading me to new understandings). This church is real big on fellowship, so it gave me plenty of oppurtunity to see where the heart of the leadership is at. The more I watched, the more I saw them earnestly reaching out to the lost, lonely, bruised and broken people around us. Not just waiting on them to come to the church, but going out to get them. Because of this, I decided that I wanted to tithe. I didn't care if it was required of me or not. Once I began that, God was able to lead me into deeper understandings.
Romans 14:23 and whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
Galations 5:6 but faith which worketh by love.
We can claim something is faith, but if it's not based on love, it's really sin. If we tithe because we are afraid of robbing God and coming under a curse, we are acting in fear, not faith. If we tithe because we want God to meet our needs, then we are attempting to make a business arrangement... yet once again missing the entire point. If, however, we tithe because we honestly desire to see people's lives rocked by the power of Holy Spirit, then and only then are we beginning to operate in His love and law. Now that I'm finally starting to get it, I have began entering into His blessings. Once I sought His face and heart, He was able to trust me with His hands (blessings and provision).

On a side note... has anyone bothered to really think this whole barney the dinosaur thing all the way through? A full grown man in a giant purple suit telling my kids he loves them and he wants to "pretend" with them???? Something there just doesn't seem right to me. Hmmm.... now that I think about it..... has anyone ever seen Barney and Michael Jackson at the same time? or are they always seperate like Superman and Clark Kent???? Just a thought yall... LOL JK

Every child tests parents. It is standard operating rules to find the buttons and push them until they get what they want. Once they learn their parents buttons, they start learning other peoples.
Lah22... truer words have never been spoken. I drive a bus for a school for troubled teenage boys. They have always been able to push their parents buttons and get what they want and so now they expect to be able to do it everywhere. There are days when I want to hang them by their toes from a nearby bridge and chum up the water real good. Most all of them have criminal records and are constantly in trouble with the law, at school and on my bus.
I'm sure many of you have seen the articles on the net about the kid who died in the boot camp here in Panama City. I've not seen the video, so I won't make any comment as to how the guards treated him, but I will say this. If he'd been taught to accept "No" as an answer when he was younger... he'd have never been sent there to begin with. BTW... the school I drive for is the one who sent him to that camp.
Parents...please, for society's sake, yours and your childs.. teach your kids that "No" means "No".

my son is disabled ,will i ever find love at 34?

To quote my dad, "Don't feel like the Lone Ranger."
We seem to be in the same boat. Let's just hope the name isn't Titanic LOL J K.
I'm 33 and my daughter is disabled. She has CHARGE syndrome.
My advice is this... set your standards high. Dont' settle for less than the best. As someone who knows first hand how hard it can be to care for a disabled child, I am more than qualified to tell you... you deserve the best and nothing less. Whenever you see a man you are attracted to... don't ask yourself if he'll accept you and your son... ask yourself if he's good enough for you both. Attitude is everything.

Out of curiosity... anyone else ever been peppered with gunshot?
I was hunting with my family once. My great aunts husband wasn't too far from me. I guess he didn't realize where I was because I heard him shoot and all of a sudden birdshot was landing all around me. Thank God none of them hit me... but it was still a bit unnerving. I can certainly see how easily something like that could happen.

Wow Knuemi... I like that... some of the greatest treasures of my life are the stories my papaw told me of times before I was born, so I can totally relate to that.
