Should men and women live together?

I did not misread /misinterpreted anything.
I stand by my post.
but instead all the girls who replied have become content???naaa couldn't be frustrated with growing old alone liking their own company and hence changed their outlook from "long term" to friends/dating...and end up learning golf
The words posted were yours, not mine and were clearly a slam against strong, well adjusted women who do not see the need or have the desire to cohabitate, marry or get re-married to a man .
As far as one person being more of "taker" than the other in a relationship, it does not matter if two people live together, are married or are simply dating, that instance can and does happen irregardless.
The taker "drains" the giver until there is nothing left to give. That's usually when the relationship ends.

Tax payers repeatedly bailing out for flood damage
Posted:
11/22/2009 6:42:11 PM
Sorry, but pleading ignorance when purchasing your home on a flood plain does not cut it with me.
When purchasing a home, in order to get a mortgage, you must purchase home insurance. This is the time when you find out when trying to purchase a flood insurance rider, whether or not you live on a flood plain.
As far as the Municipality of Duncan and the Cowichan area is concerned, they and the Provincial Government should be held resp0nsible as the diking system design was clearly at fault. BC tax payers should not be made to pay for government errors.
The river may temporarily rise, but based on current weather forecasts, we don't anticipate it going back up to flood stage," the province's environment minister, Barry Penner, said in an interview.
"It seems like the worst is behind us for now."
Penner said the amount of rain the area has seen during the past week and the subsequent river levels are unusual for the region, but not unheard of.
"Our records show a similar amount of precipitation, river response back in 1990," he said. "It's not common, but also not unknown."
*quoted in the Canadian Press* http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianpress/article/ALeqM5jEwDwRC4DNDq463tHU0Q-ikhBguA
Based on the quote above from Barry Penner, the government had prior knowledge of this problem. Why after 1990 was the diking system not assessed, shored up to a higher level, and lengthened so that something like this would not be a re-occurrence?
How much do you want to make a bet that they will be doing it in the near future?...

I can't for the life of me understand why certain men on this site constantly throw barbs at women who are secure enough within themselves to not feel the need to be "attached" to a man. I do not feel the need to live with a man or be married to him in order to have a long term relationship with him. That is my personal choice and also the choice of a lot of women on this site.
I feel when the time is right, love will come, slowly, sweetly and for all the right reasons. Until then, my life is full, and I enjoy it and all my activities / hobbies with both friends and family.

Good thread OP
The more I am on my own, the less I see the need to cohabitate with a man. However that being said, I am also not interested in living with
anyone
as I like my place, my space and being able to come and go and do things to and in my home as I see fit.
A one on one committed relationship with one great guy is what my eventual goal is, I just don't see the need to live together or be married.

Bears, Racoons and Rats, oh my....

I don't think this particular security guy had ever seen a rat, let alone a rat as big as he described as the size of a cat with a pink tail that could jump like a kangaroo.
Sounds like your security guy ran into an Opossum. They are nocturnal marsupials about the size of a large cat. I have been out on my patio at night and seen them casually saunter by behind my chain link fence going to their "nest" in a tree hollow next to my place.
Trust me, you wouldn't want to "corner" one....

Why Do Guys Quit Dancing after 40?

At ML Re: message 51
when cattle stampedes it is best to stand back, even those guys with a few still have that much sense, and
they are watching cuz all the gals who dance like no one is watching want them to be watching
So are you referring to women as cattle/cows in your statement above, or do you have "Hoof in mouth" disease again?
but when asked to dance they often shrug guys off like intruders....lol
I'm usually not really shy or get discouraged, but I can certainly understand men who don't even bother asking.
Perhaps the ladies complaining not having a guy to dance with may consider to get up and ask one
Anyone who has gone out with me dancing knows that I have absolutely no qualms about walking up to a man and asking him if he would like to dance. I have done it in the past and will do it in the future ......
EDIT at TD&H Below....
vvv Funny, I seem to remember going up to you and asking if you would like to dance, and it was very much enjoyed and appreciated when you did
EDIT @ ML BELOW
^^^^ Music
dahhhlinnnn, not in the least, you mustn't listen to low self-esteem to make that comparison, you know me I never include puns in comment
Actually ML, another woman saw your post and pointed it out to me. She was quite offended about the comment. As far as me having low self-esteem..... Not in the least!

Probably because that "ride the cowboy" song is another one of those "feel good " womens' songs and one of the most retarded songs out there. Just my opinion thou,,,,a male opinion at that. Don't believe me,,,go ask. Unbelievabley,,,men will not dance to songs they think are stupid.
Then there are some men that would rather stay at home alone getting quietly plastered on their "sipping whiskey" and wake up the next morning face down somewhere in their garden, not remembering how they got there.
I would rather "feel good" and be "retarded" enjoying the evening with good music, the camaraderie of friends, and dancing like no one is watching.
Certain men should be less critical / closed minded and try it sometime...
Just my opinion thou

I counted them, 12 women all dancing in a group and what looked like no specific partner and no men within 30 feet. Even if they were a gay group/club, I guess women just like to dance more and make the effort.
Funny about the statement above, a group of female friends (mostly from POF) were at Gabby's last night to celebrate a certain fishie's birthday.
When "Save a horse, Ride a cowboy" was played, our two tables of women ran on to the dance floor
And where were most of the men? Standing there on the sidelines watching.
Men, life is to be enjoyed, who gives a flying fvck what people think when you get on that dance floor. Just DO it!
Dance like no one is watching.......

Your Definition of Intimacy
Posted:
11/7/2009 12:41:13 PM
My Definition of Intimacy: Partners who "get" each other, be it cerebral, emotional, or physical. Conversation and laughter between the couple flows easily. For me, it would be a quick wit, plenty of double entendre's, and a physical/sexual chemistry that reaches far beyond the bedroom. Being able to confide with no judgment from the other. The blending and sharing of our lives.

Health warning: the next pandemic!
I went to a dinner party last night, where I and other guests enjoyed copious amounts of alcohol.
I awoke this morning not feeling well, with what could be described as flu-like symptoms; headache, nausea, chills, sore eyes, etc.
From the results of some initial testing, I have unfortunately tested positive for what experts are now calling Wine Flu.
This debilitating condition is very serious - and it appears this is not an isolated case.
Reports are flooding in from all around the country of others diagnosed with Wine Flu. To anyone that starts to exhibit the aforementioned tell-tale signs, experts are recommending a cup of tea and a bit of a lie down.
However, should your condition worsen, you should immediately rent a DVD and take some Advil (Advil seems to be the only drug available that has been proven to help combat this unusual type of flu). Others are reporting a McDonald's Happy Meal can also help in some cases. If not, then further application of the original liquid, in similar quantities to the original dose, has been shown to do the trick.
Wine Flu does not need to be life threatening and, if treated early, can be eradicated within a 24-48 hour period.
Cheers!
NOTE
If you find you are complaining a lot, it may be that it has mutated into Whine Flu. This is particularly common in men and can quickly spread to their partners where the symptoms are detected as a serious case of eye-rolling.

The M Word - Marriage
Posted:
11/3/2009 10:33:51 PM
I took a quick peak at it and think that it is actually quite funny.
Apparently there are approximately 127 guys in a 5 mile radius from me who want to get married.
Two of the gentleman that were pictured I know and can tell you factually that they are "players". The last thing on their minds is marriage. So I don't really know if this is really a true and accurate gauge.
I just hope the h*e*ll I am not on that search, as I am not really interested in marriage.
A long term monogamous committed relationship is fine, but after ending a 23 yr marriage I don't see the need or have the desire to do it again.

Are all men potential rapists?

Are all men potential rapists?
Yes, just like all women are potential prostitutes.....(stated sarcastically)
What a stupid asinine question.....
Come on people, think, I mean REALLY think about this...
For a rapist, it is not about the act of sex. It is about control, being the aggressor, generating fear in their victim, ultimate violation, and physical assault often resulting violent death of the rapist's victim.
I don't feel that it is in the
majority
of mens genetic psychological makeup and their thought processes to violate a woman in such a manner.

What's up with the BBD (Bigger Better Deal)?
Posted:
10/24/2009 3:10:17 PM
I have been on and off this site since Dec. 2005. At first, my mentality was that if I met a wonderful man and we hit it off, that I would continue to be on the site because of the events and the friends I have made.
I now realize that to do that, jeopardizes the couples relationship.
My belief now that if you are lucky enough to find that rare love, you both should agree to get off this site as quickly as possible and give it every chance to work. I have seen 2 couples fall in love and marry from this site. The successful ones are the couples that are no longer on it, but are out there away from POF living their lives....
If I met and started dating a wonderful man, and he felt the same, you would no longer see me on this site.....

Either way, Happy Diwali everyone!

A Vancouver team called the Millionaires won in 1914/15 before the NHL was formed and when the Stanley Cup was still a challenge trophy.
So maybe we have hope in 2014/15!!!
To be successful, I think we need a name change....

Thanks Bella, F&S, and Glenoran1 for your best wishes....
I am having Rhinoplasty done to repair damage/trauma that was done to my nose when I was younger. Have been waiting for over 2 yrs to be able to have this surgery.
Today I will still be doing stuff around the place, but got a call an hour ago from my youngest son. He is taking me out for dinner to my favourite Italian restaurant here in Abby, Pallioti's
And got another call just now from my oldest son wondering if I would like to come out and watch the game tonight with him and his wife.
So thankful for the love and thoughtfulness of them, I'm a lucky mom

Welcome back Cappy!
My solution to the problem, when your server comes to greet you for the first time, ask for separate bills. If he goes all spaz then just say "sorry, on the first meet I think we should go dutch". It saves a lot of problems, miscommunication, and assumptions on both parts.

Ummmm hazulleyes, Check again. I think you mean that your tirade should be directed at succulentwoman, not me.
Back on topic, I stand by what I said, 95% of the time I usually pay my own portion of coffee / dinner, unless he is old school and absolutely insists on paying (I hate scenes at restaurants), and again, NO sex on the first date.
I like to get to know the man, and the kind of person he is. I usually find out by the second or third date whether he is someone that I want to continue to see.

Perhaps you would be better off seeking what you are looing for in church on Sunday, not on a free meat market dating site.
If you are fishing for marlin, don't fish in the bayou.
Markus (Big Fish) will love to know the high opinion you have of his dating site
We call certain people on this site who put dating or long term on their profiles but are really out for intimate encounters, or as you like to call it Boinking, "bottom feeders".
Judgmental people are lonely people.
That's your opinion. That's why I will have a house full of people tomorrow including a Gentleman (yes the capital letter was intentional) who I am slowly getting to know better. Guess what, I am secure enough that I don't need to "boink" him to get his attention.
Pretty much, yeah. I am not desperate enough to post my photo in a place like this...but will send it privately if interested in someone. You would be amazed at how many chicks dig cooking for you in return for a good boinking.
Why do I get the distinct feeling that someones number is up... Women talk, and it doesn't take too long before the word gets out about men who are users, especially on this site.....

If she doesn't have sex with me on the first date, there is something wrong with her.
And I expect her to pay.
There are way more single ladies out there looking for it than there are single attractive gents. Get over yourselves ladies, and get down off your pedestals before they break under all that weight...
And again. the above post is pretty much why I have given up trying to find a man of quality on this site, especially ones that feel that women should put out just because there are less men per capita locally than women.
I would venture to say that some men on this site should "get over" themselves and the "I'm all that and a bag of chips" attitude.
I pay my own way and absolutely NO sex on the first date......

Too selective about who we date?
Posted:
10/3/2009 10:38:29 AM
Do I want to date a separated man who can't get off the fence and move forward with his life ? - No
Do I want to date a man who basically handed over everything to his ex wife and is now living in mommy's basement suite without a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of ? - No
Do I want to date a man who has anger issues and a drinking problem ? - No
Do I want to date a man who when his marriage ends, turns into a party animal and wants to bed down every woman he can lay his hands on (including me) ? - No
If this is considered "selective", then so be it. I know what I want, the kind of man I want to be with, and the kind of life I want to live. This does not include any of the above scenarios.

Stay single. Works every time.
^^^^ mmuuwwwhahaaaaa Steno...
OP... welcome to the world of dating, especially internet dating.
Sadly, cheating, lying and playing the field with both men and women seems to be the norm. We call these types of people "bottom feeders"
Right now, my dilemma is why guys on dating sites are trying to "hook" female fish but don't want to reel them in. They just keep them dangling on the hook, hoping that they can catch a bigger one.
So, I have pretty much cut bait, until a guy can genuinely prove to me that he is sincere in his intentions.
There are good men and women out there, but the key is having the time and patience to weed through them to find the one you want and who also wants to be with you.
Btw OP, I happen to know a really fine, straight up woman who is funny, sweet, and smart... she posted right after you did.....
Best of luck in your search.

Some would argue that bringing a child into this world is fcking crazy. People are starving - half the world's population is malnourished. The earth is overpopulated.
Some would say it is far better to save the life that is already here.
I am just throwing this out. I understand that most westerners are into procreation and living in a state of denial. However, some would say this world is not a suitable place to bring children in to. I think they have a strong case but it goes against what is natural , ,,, so the gift of life is controversial.
Who are we as humans to say who should be brought into this world or not.....
Agreed that people are starving, but to deny birthright would be possibly denying future destiny. What would have happened if people such as Mother Teresa or Albert Schweitzer had not been born...
Who knows, a small baby being born this moment might be tomorrows great leader.
Food for thought

My biggest problem in these forum threads are people who incessantly ramble on. They could actually say what they want in one or two sentences, but take 3 or 4 paragraphs to convey their message. It's aggravating and annoying. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Sometimes, less is more.

BBQ'd teriyaki chicken breast with Jasmine rice and stir fried veggies (done on BBQ). Spending the night on the patio (again) watching the sunset, listening to smooth jazz and enjoying this wonderful weather....

Dating and the Pepé Le Pew Syndrome

And the two obnoxious responses above degrading women in general is the main reason I don't seek to date anymore. A complete turnoff.....
Regarding the topic....
The Pepé Le Pew cartoons that the OP mentioned above were created in the mid 1950's and a completely different era than today. I can only speak for myself. Maybe it's my age, but I am not into chasing or being chased, stupid games, and overall childish behaviour. Say what you mean and mean what you say.

Long Distance, can it work?

Depends on the distance, If it were 2 people living somewhere in the lower mainland, who didn't need to be constantly in each others pockets, I would say yes. If we are talking for instance Lower Mainland /Seattle, I would personally (from experience) say no.

Powerful woman.....

Funny, I never thought of a powerful woman as one who "popped egos". To me, that smacks of a woman who is insecure within herself and has to prop up her esteem by using this tactic. My belief is that a woman who has or is in power does not abuse it by deflating people. My idea of powerful women, Mother Theresa, Margaret Thatcher, Indira Gandhi, Golda Meir, Benazir Bhutto, are just a few examples.

Regretful or lost.

Middle age daters. Are they seeking to recapture their lost youth. Divorced and regretful of something they gave up.
I am just going to speak for myself. I am not interested in recapturing my "lost youth". I have lived that part of my life. What I am looking forward to is
the future
and hopefully one day, meeting a great guy to share it with who is close to the same age as I.
I have found that a lot of men my age on dating sites are not really taking a good close look in the mirror. They are not seeing themselves as they really are, men who are getting old. They think that in their middle to late 50's, they can be like George Clooney and date a 20 to 30 something year old....
Time to get real and look at "the man in the mirror".

Is the American economy making you a bit nervous?

Is the American economy making you a bit nervous?
Nope, lucky enough (or smart enough) to live within my means and not gauge my lifestyle to an economy.
When the recession hit, I could turn on a dime....
If you have the money, now is the time to take advantage of the down turn...
*Edit* Mark my words...Single women over the age of 40 will be the future driving force of tomorrow's economy...
Cause we are smrt and we kick azz......
