You know you're in Nova Scotia when.......
Posted: 11/10/2006 4:03:12 PM
You walk into the coffee shop this morning and the topic of discussion is that JFK has just been assassinated....

You attended the last POF party at the Warehouse and 95% of the men there stood at the bar talking about the Mooseheads and Lobster fishing and how this year both really suck, while all the good looking women were out on the dancefloor....

Dear Alcohol
Posted: 9/19/2006 6:27:48 PM
I can make anybody pretty.
I can make you believe any lie.
I can make you pick a fight with somebody twice your size.
Well, I've been known to cause a few break-ups,
An' I've been known to cause a few births.
Well, I can make you new friends, or get you fired from work.

And since the day I left Milwaukee,
Lynchburg an' Bordeaux, France,
Been making the bars lots of big money,
An' helpin' white people dance.
I got you in trouble in High School,
But College, now that was a ball.
You had some of the best times you?ll never remember with me:
Alcohol; Alcohol.

I got blamed at your wedding reception,
For your best man's embarrassing speech.
And also for those naked pictures of you at the beach.
I've influenced Kings and world leaders,
I helped Hemingway write like he did.
And I'll bet you a drink or two, that I can make you put that lampshade on your head.

Cause since the day I left Milwaukee,
Lynchburg and Bordeaux, France,
I been making a fool out of folks just like you,
An' helping white people dance.
I am medicine and I am poison,
I can help you up or make you fall.
You had some of the best times you'll never remember with me:
Alcohol.

Yeah, since the day I left Milwaukee,
Lynchburg an' Bordeaux, France,
Been making the bars lots of big money,
(Helpin' white people dance.)
Yeah, I got you in trouble in High School,
But College, now that was a ball.
You had some of the best times you'll never remember with me:
Alcohol; Alcohol.

Pretty/Handsome- Well thank you, thank you very much!
Loves to dress up- Jeans, AC/DC T-shirt, Shoes with laces not my velcro ones (need help with laces)
Easily bored-Gotta go will fill out later
Fussy- I don't like my laces double knotted!
Seldom shows emotions-Almost cried once, I SAID ALMOST!
Takes time to recover when hurt- On LTD now for hang nail
Sensitive-Oh yeah right there!
Down-to-Earth-Drunken Stupor couldn't make it in the front door
Stubborn-Yes I am, No I'm not, Yes I am, No I'm not, Yes I am, No I'm not

Pretty close but not so sure on a couple of them...

Friendly Fire
Posted: 9/9/2006 7:07:12 PM
Wow opened a can of worms on this one huh! Here's my take on the whole issue, those camel jockeys have been killing each other for a thousand years and happy to be doing so, they were playing in their own sand box and all was good. Suddenly this tyrant regime known to us as th U.N decides to stick their noses in where it just doesn't belong. Now the only way possible for them to enforce their decision to step in and interfere is to give the USA free reign to do whatever needed to stop this fighting. Now quoting someone else's post, Canada being the lapdog that it is, follows those stupid yanks who "Are being all they can be" by bombing more innocent women and children than actual terrorists or opposing troops into a battle they have no right to be in. It just slays me to see these crying Canadian families on the news, What the frig did you expect!!! tea and crumpets? they have no right being there, get the hell out of there and mind your own business! These people will go back to being happy blowing each other up rather than sitting behind a sand dune planning the next 911 retalliation.

With the deaths of some of our military forces recently, by fellow troops. Does anyone find it rather ridiculous that we use the term they were killed by "Friendly Fire". I'm sorry if someone shoots and kills me, I fail to see how that in anyway is friendly...

You pull up to a 4 way stop and everyone proceeds at once

You paint a hockey stick on yourself and don't sleep the night before a nucks game

You think they may have a chance of ever winning the cup...

What's the first thing you look at?
Posted: 5/5/2006 9:07:29 PM
Some of us paige were not meant to be parents and yet your comment sounds like that may be a bad thing? I guess it's easier to just have kids these days, sit them in front of a TV or Computer while we spend countless hours doing the same and consider themselves good parents. Who would have thought it. If this is a bad thing then come on ladies who wants a father for their child who doesn't really want them in the first place. I know I'll get lots of applications for this Dead Beat Dad position but will have to do interviews anyway.

Meet the parents -- Making an impression
Posted: 4/16/2006 7:32:15 PM
If they have invited you to dinner play it safe and take a 12 pack of beer and a dozen roses, if the Mother is doing the cooking give her the flowers and the old boy the beer, if the Dad's cooking give him the flowers and the old girl the beer.

If there coming over to your place greet them at the door, show the old boy to the big screen TV and give him the remote, take mom out on the patio and show her the perennials and such you've just put in, ask her advice and pretend you care.

If all else fails get drunk, make an ass of yourself and you won't have to worry about seeing them again

Here are a few more points to ponder,

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

Why is the third hand on the watch called second hand?

Why is it that rain drops but snow falls?

Why is it that doctors call what they do "practice"?

Why is it called lipstick if you can still move your lips?

Why does the sun lighten our hair, but darken our skin?

y do ppl lie bout their body type
Posted: 4/15/2006 6:26:39 AM
There are some of us who don't enjoy being able to wrap our arms around a significant other, TWICE!! Personally wouldn't give you a dime for a whole tractor trailer load of women with a waist the size of my leg. A few extra pounds means more fun, more to love and appreciate, you can wrestle with them and not worry about snapping them and in my own opinion tend to be more carefree and fun to be with.

Fantastic idea! I have been an active participant/volunteer in one of, if not the largest annual camping/gatherings in the world, known as the Burning Man Project held in the Black Rock Desert outside of Reno Nevada. Was unable to attend last year however the numbers exceeded 25,000 people over the course of the week the year before. Best experience of my life. To people who won't attend because they think their hated a.k.a Paige I think POF members are going to have a good time and to meet new people not to specifically rain on your parade, to not attend for that reason is just silly! I'm sure even if that was the case there are a few members here who would be more than happy to protect ya lol. Anyhow count me in and most definitely add me to your list of volunteers. Willing to help out in any capacity.

Works great doesn't it, been on the path from Eb to Fraser valley many a time, Saved alot of children from being run down as they race back to their parents after jumping in the water. Maybe if enough people got together and expressed their concerns to local MP's something might be done.

Being a BC native I was surprised coming here and not seeing a cycling and rollerblade only path especially around your park areas. These paths work great in BC and cut down on the cyclist/pedestrian accidents immensely. I realize your downtown core has very narrow streets so that's kind of out of the question however there is no reason to not have them in the parks.

Here are a few to ponder,

-How can the weather be hot as hell one day and cold as hell another?
-How come Superman could stop bullets with his chest, but always ducked when someone threw a gun at him?
-Why do they call it disposable douche? Is there a kind of douche you keep after using?
-Why don't you ever see baby pigeons?
-Why is it called a TV "set" when you only get one?
-Why do they say "an alarm going off," if it is really going on?
-Why do we have to pay a toll on "freeways"?
-If you sneeze and fart at the same time, does a vacuum form in your stomach

How hurt could you have been? Not much if you chose to let him stay and get some more loving! Your a product of your own misery. If in fact your really affected by all this stand up for yourself! call him up, tell him to flock off and lose your number and address.

Cdn soldier killed in firefight outside Kandahar
Posted: 3/29/2006 8:06:12 PM
Can someone explain why this is any different from Joe Blow from Idaho, a potato farmer who falls off his tractor and dies of a broken neck. their both doing a job they chose to do! nobody forced them! These so called peacekeepers have no business being there in the first place! These people have been at war with themselves for centuries and there is absolutely nothing that is going to change that, they'll still be fighting long after were all dead and gone.I think between Canada and the United States more of our own troops have been killed by our own troops than any other. What is that phrase they use? Oh Yeah and this one makes me howl! come on you all know it! Yes you got it! "FRIENDLY FIRE" and with our recent submarine fiasco I guess that word takes on a whole new term.

Life ain't easy for a boy named Sue
Posted: 3/11/2006 4:52:14 AM
Here is my personal favourite, always makes me stop and think

Starry, starry night
Paints your palette blue and grey
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colours on the snowy linen land
And now I understand
What you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violent haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of China blue
Colours changing you
Morning feels of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artists loving hand
For they could not love you
But still your love was true
And when no hope was left in sight
On that starry, starry night
You took your life as lovers often do
But I could have told you Vincent
This world was never meant
For anyone as beautiful as you
Starry, starry night
Portraits hung in empty halls
Frameless heads on nameless walls
With eyes that watch the world and can't forget
Like the strangers you've met
The ragged men in ragged clothes
The silver thorn of bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow
And now I think I know, what you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they're not listening still
Perhaps they never will.

Thanks paige knew I'd get something intelligible from you. I can't imagine crime has anything to do with it though as doesn't every area wherever you go have a shady area? Seems I'm constantly reading about criminal activity around Pizza Corner and I'm not referring to the service in some of those places either. Sarah's mention of lights being brighter would only apply if you were in an airplane.

One would tend to think that the halifax side would better suit this name as with all the buildings downtown blocking the sun from ever touching the streets.
