For me personally, I find a man who wears an earring very sexy
and if you add a tattoo into the mix, OMG

how many successful dates have you had and any relationships have come out of the use of this site?

No luck here either - made some friends, but for the most part no one even answers e-mails.

Been here since December (I think) - had coffee twice with the same guy, but nothing ever came of it. Have formed some friendships, but really can't say I have been on any dates

In my personal opinion there is no bigger turn off than a guy who wears white socks and sandals

How long have you been doing online dating?
Posted:

About 5 years and I am no further ahead, Met some interesting characters, but can't really say I actually made any lasting friendships with anyone. Eventually, everyone just stops communicating and disappears. It seems everyone, women included just keep looking for that perfect person that probably only exists in their heads

Good for you Serelle - I had the same thing happen with Lazarcar. Nowhere in my profile does it say I wanted cyber sex, yet, he spent forever trying to convince me to have fun with him until Mr. Right came along and then he wonders why women don't want to meet him

Hey Lazar - lots of us are hoping to meet a great guy, but when someone contacts us and says they only want to have some fun with us until we actually meet that great guy (we won't mention any names) then maybe that person needs to take a different approach to get someone to actually want to meet them.

I always seem to get the guys who want to know if I have any other pictures I can send them and I don't mean of my cats - then they ask if I live alone

I tend to agree with 7times - he was probably hoping that your hanging out would lead to sex and when it didn't happen, he just disappeared. Similar situation happened to me - spent 5 weeks chatting with someone, met a couple of times and then he just disappeared with never another word. You just have to pick yourself up and keep going and hope that eventually you will meet the RIGHT man for you

Why Is Internet Dating SO Hard!!

[The biggest problem with this is that everyone is so far away.
This would be great if you worked for an airline./]
Nipoleon - those of us who do work for airlines still have the same problem as everyone else

Why are older women scared about dating younger men?
Posted:
4/18/2006 5:22:11 AM
Ditto for me Kay. I actually prefer younger men, but when I say younger I am referring to 4 or 5 years younger and not 20 or 30. At this point in my life I would like someone who is going to be around a bit and someone who I can have great conversations with and I just can't imagine what, besides sex, I could have in common with a 30 year old.

Do women read profiles???
Posted:
4/17/2006 3:50:53 PM
I'm sure there must be people out there who do actually read profiles (myself included), but for the most, my experience is also that the guys who message me have not read my profile. I received a really nice e-mail from someone, but it sounded a bit impersonal and there were things in it that didn't really make sense, such as, "please don't be a smoker" and "please do not do drugs". I make a point of mentioning, in my profile, that I don't smoke, so wondered why he was asking about it. Turns out he sent me a form letter that he sends out to all the ladies he contacts - had absolutely nothing to do with reading my profile and zooming in on anything we might have in common.
And OP, an hour's drive for the right person is not that bad - been there, done that and it was to Alexandria as well - lol. Just keep trying, someone will eventually think you are worth the trip.

Wow arealangel - let's hope that is not the norm and more the exception, but as I said, even those with pictures don't have their profiles read so if looks is what everyone is going on, you'll know soon enough when he sends you an e-mail asking you all sorts of things that you have already covered in your profile. We just keep on truckin...........

Just an Observation

I find, in most cases, it all has to do with the picture. There are so many profiles here that the initial eye grabber is the picture, so if you have a bad picture or no picture, no one reads the profile. Heck, even if you have a great picture, no one reads the profile and a lot of great people are probably overlooked.

Been there - done that, as well. Once suggested to a guy that we could go for a walk and sit by the lake and talk and his answer was "do you know how hot it is outside" and with that he ended up blowing me off for a golf game with his buddies - I, of course, assumed he was playing golf on an air conditioned course

Ladies, do you want brutal honesty on your profile??
Posted:

Thanks for the help Eddie - I made the change of pictures, although I should tell you that I had the 4th picture posted for the longest while and have switching them around since none of them seem to do much good.
I changed the heading, but it's kind of hard to think of something original at this point, since I have been changing that around as well and have run out of things to say - lol.

Please check out my profile and let me know what I can do to make it more obvious that I am not looking for a one night stand. Haven't had much luck in meeting anyone who wants more than the occasional get together at my house and one even ended up arguing with me, trying to tell me that till I found Mr. Right I should enjoy being with him - HELP!

People that love their pets

"But when she came over last weekend, she was totally cold to my little puppy (5 month old Golden), and didn't even want to pet or touch him :/ Almost instantly I looked at her in a different light, my initial fixation just vanished *poof*, and I couldn't wait to send her home."
I find that people who have no time for animals usually end up treating people the same way and there is certainly no room my life for someone like that, so good for you blue eyes.

Pets are pets and if I want someone to accept mine, I would most certainly respect the fact that he has pets other than your typical cat and dog. I may not fall in love with them as I may with his dog, but I would understand that he loved them, no matter what they were.

Since the absolute first thing I mention is my love for animals and the fact that I have cats, I wouldn't even get to the point of knowing if this person was worth getting crazy about because if he told me he was allergic to pets, I wouldn't be interested in starting anything - what would be the point? I certainly would never want to be in a position where I would have to choose between my pets or my man, so it would never even get that far.

I find it important to mention my cats (have 3 babies) in my profile. I am looking for a guy who loves animals, and doesn't just tolerate them. My kids and I are a package deal and I want him to know up front that I would never trade them in for him.

Okay, is turning 45 the worst or what?
Posted:

45 was no problem - 50 was no problem, even 51 was no problem, but there is something about turning 52 - I can't believe I am going to be 52 this year - it seems I just turned 50 and I lost a year somewhere. Worst part is, it only goes faster from here on in.

Ok, real dumb question here - has anyone figured out how they rate the pictures. If you pay real close attention you get a different rating for the same picture depending on where you check it out.

Hey sunshine - I'm with you on this one. I joined in December and have never encountered so many rude men myself. Not only do they not answer e-mail I send them, but they just delete them. It wouldn't kill someone to just be polite and say they are not interested. I guess it just shows you what kind of guy they really are - not worth having.

SEX and men
Posted:
4/6/2006 1:00:59 PM
My first time here and thought this was a curious question coming from a guy :)
At this point, I really don't know what guys want because no matter what category they fall under, be it dating, long term, short term, etc, it all boils down to sex and if all they wanted was sex, they should indicate "intimate encounters". I don't have a problem with guys wanting sex, we are all adults and we women will make up our minds whether we will or not, what I have a problem with is every single guy I have met so far, under the "dating" category seem to think that means only ever asking to come to my place or inviting me to theirs. There is a whole world of things to do that doesn't involve my bed or his and I would like to find a guy who actually wants to leave the house once in a while.
Anyway, just wanted to add my 2 cents.
