Birchmount Party Pics & Kudos Dec. 14th
Posted:
12/15/2007 12:01:34 PM
Wow.... I have not slept in so late in a very long time, I must have had a really great time last night and danced more than usual to be so tired today!!!!!
Yes, to whomever it was that said last night's bash was "deluxe"... you nailed it! What a great night and so good to see some of my oldest and dearest friends, and to make a whole bunch of new ones too....
Special mentions!
PIC - I love you! You always know how to bring life to a party!
The Scarberia Crew - you guys rock and always make me feel so comfortable around you, no wonder I love living in this city. See you all soon at a meet and greet closer to home.
Sxysan you looked AMAZING girlfriend! Keep smiling ;)
Rox, wildflower, bluenight, tabbs, sportrider, sexy blue eyes, patchs bro, NorthernMiss, God of Thunder, BBF, and the whole bunch of others I'm missing..... so wonderful to see you all again, it's been too long and hopefully not too long till the next time.
Mr. Photoguy - your efforts do not go unnoticed or unappreciated, thank you so much for taking and posting those wonderful memories.
Niceguylast1976 - We couldn't be any closer friends than we are but why is that we don't go out and party together much???? (Girls, he literally lives next door to me so come visit me if you want an introduction!)
Villaz - Good job buddy, I'll recommend you to my A&R guy!!!
Wellice, TEFUNMAN, Muskokaguy3, dtmdtm111, was nice to meet you all for the first time. I sure hope you enjoyed yourselves enough to come out to another one soon.
And last.... to the ladies who put this shindig together.... you're all awesome and really know how to make an event memorable for everyone. Great job and I'm sure I will be back at another Friday night bash soon. Thank you for all you've done!
This is typically the time of year when we all sit back and think about how fortunate we are in many areas of our lives. The prominant thought for me will be towards the many friends I've made from this site over the past two years and last nights party was proof of that. Seeing everyone together and having so much fun really is the spirit of the season. Merry Christmas to each and everyone of you, you have all touched my heart more than you'll ever know.
Love and kisses,
MissC

Sent me sexy pics to my cell phone and a few others?
Posted:
9/13/2007 12:02:34 PM
Is it possible that perhaps they were sent to those other people BEFORE she had started dating you, and that she likes that particular pic of herself and sent it to you as well????? If the other more revealing pics were for your eyes only, I would think that is a sign as well.......
The only sure way to straighten this all out and ease your mind is to talk it over with her and perhaps determine your true "couple" status.
Good Luck

Promise Rings
Posted:
8/28/2007 9:46:41 AM
My grandmother used to tell me about getting "pinned" by my grandfather when they were dating. That's one tradition that had significance as to a girl's "status" of being spoken for, or in a relationship (going steady).
The terminology and the "pin" have evolved and changed over the years but I'm quite certain that the intent has not. Look beyond the gift (simple or elaborate) and see the message it is given with. How can you say it's "childish" for a man to express his feelings for the one he loves in such a way? If it is then I want to be a child forever because at the end of the day, that bond between a man and a woman is all that really matters.
C'mon ladies, you can't tell me that it doesn't feel good to be in love and act like a kid again, get those butterflies when he calls you, be excited to know you'll be seeing him in a few days or a few hours.......
I would be overjoyed to accept a paper cigar band as a promise ring...... it's the message that holds meaning for me, NOT the amount of sparkle within the gift.

Negative Profiles
Posted:
4/13/2007 9:41:59 PM
I always read the profile of anyone I talk to on POF, man or woman. I find it helps me get a small sense of who they are, IF the profile is honest and has had a little thought put into it. The ones who "prefer not to say" anything at all, .... well, I prefer not to speak.
The moment I read something negative, or if the whole thing has a very depressing vibe to it, I tend to steer clear of that person. Life itself, and dating in particular is hard enough without having the 'poor me' aspect to deal with as well. I believe people in general can appreciate an upbeat, cheery profile and it shows that even through some of the hard times life throws at all of us, we can still see the silver lining inside the cloud.

women who drink
Posted:
4/13/2007 7:43:19 PM
I think this goes for both men AND women alike..... I'll never understand how anyone could go out to a bar, drink thier face off and end up staring into space like some retard and when someone calls thier name they look around in a daze with glassy eyes wondering if they really did hear thier name. Better yet, watch them try to walk to the bathroom!!!!!... Even BETTER yet, watch them when they don't make it to the bathroom!!!!!
I've had my eye on a few fish around at the parties and such, and on more than one occasion when I've seen them "in action", it completely turned me off. I would not want to be on the arm of a man who can't even stand on his own.
Nuff said!

Tattoos on women turn on or turn off? just curious
Posted:
4/8/2007 7:03:25 PM
Women that get tattoos do not have a clue
A clue about what??????? How can you make such a general statement, have you actually met every single woman that has a tattoo??????
Most men think tattoos on women are masculine looking and trashy . Yes they are a big turn off .
Have you actually spoken to 'most men' about this topic? I think this is just your own opinion, which of course you are entitled to have, but shoving it down the throats of the general population will not win you any brownie points.
I have tattoos because "I" wanted to get them, not to impress anyone else, not to try and look a certain way or be appealling.... they actually have meaning to me. I'm sure each lady that has one or more, will have thier own story to tell about why they have it... that's part of the beauty of it, it's very diverse and personal, as it should be!!!

Let's all keep in mind what the spirit of this "dating" site is..... to find someone to date, be friends with, have some kind of relationship etc..... If conversations move in a direction that prompts you to reveal your pet pictures, your boat pictures, your motorcycle pictures, pictures of your aunt maxine holding your nephew or those beautiful shots from your last vacation... then there is no reason that can't still be done on another messaging system like msn or yahoo. Could be a good way to get a conversation moving or keep it fun!
I for one like this rule, always have but knew it was difficult to stay on top of with so many people on the site. Yes, sometimes it shows a little personality but no reason that can't still be done as stated above, once conversation has been initiated.
That being said, there is still no guarantee that even WHEN a picture is posted on a profile that it is actually of the person typing behind the screen! My rule of thumb.... exchange emails and a couple of pics, then get ON CAM and show me who you are before I'm going to head to a meeting!

No pics, No reply
I've heard it a TON
What is so difficult
About posting just one?
In today's day and age
of technological bounds
I'm completely surprised
at those not to be found
To get yourself noticed
You hope and you wish
You need to stand out
from the rest of the fish
We try not to be shallow
what's inside is the key
But we have to be honest
attraction is important to me
So put on your smile,
Your shirt and your vest,
and proudly display
your personal best!

Correct me if I'm wrong.... but I've been told by other friends that once your profile is deleted by admin, you can NOT come right back and create a new one... otherwise what would be the use of them deleting you in the first place. Apparently your IP address is tracked and it won't allow you to create a new profile so for those who suggested he could come right back..... not quite the case.

is making love really just sex
Posted:
3/18/2007 12:43:30 PM
No, making love is NOT really just sex, the two are immeasureably different.
Sex for the pure physical sake of it, can be physically satisfying for some.... yet as others have mentioned can also leave you feeling quite empty and regretting the decision you made to allow it to happen at all.
Making love is the melting of two people, mind, body and soul. That exquisite moment when all you want to do is please each other, and experience each other, together, for hours on end, and the biggest difference is that you want to have that experience over and over and over again.

Sometimes profiles get deleted by those in power or for some other reason, not necessarily by the member themselves. It could be a mistake and perhaps he had no other way to contact you either.
Were it me in this situation, I would still show up as planned because my word means something to me personally, but I would sure be looking for some pretty darn good explanations IF he shows up too. If not, you lost nothing but a bit of time yet still kept your word.

Most people with ink are attracted to others with the same, I have two tattoos, both of my own design. I adore tattoos on both men and women, and again tasteful and meaningful. I do have one problem though, every time I see a tattoo, I'm overwhelmed with the desire to touch it.... after all, if they can show it to you, you should be able to!

Waking up
Posted:
3/7/2007 6:15:27 PM
Alarm goes off.... hit snooze.
Awake but not quite fully aware.
Another 10 mins of blissful ignorance until the alarm interrupts my peace again and I reluctantly leave the warm of the covers to wake my cranky children, make thier lunches that they never eat, yell at them to get up again, get their breakfast ready, holler at them once more, pack said lunches into knapsacks along with last nights homework, physically drag said children out of bed and onto the floor, toss some clothing in their direction and holler at them to get dressed QUICKLY cuz breakfast is getting cold and the bus will be here in 10 mins, run through a shower, dry hair and get dressed in record time, shove one child out the door and onto the bus, comb out my daughers rat's nest from her night of tossing and turning in bed, try to make my rat's nest look less nesty, grab a protein shake or a breakfast bar to eat while I drive, remember to grab the garbage on the way out of the door, start the car and remember I forgot my cell phone, run inside to fetch it and then drive to drop the smelly bag that has now stank up the car, to the garbage area, drop my crabby offspring at her school and then drive myself to the office to start my 9 hours of madness.
No wonder I don't like waking up, my dreams are so much nicer!

... and I thought studying for exams in school was hard enough!!!! Now I've got a new study habit.... TRIVIA... although I must say, I think there may be a broader range of movies to study than there are facts and trivia about the last topic!!!! (Say it isn't so!!!!!)
Hoping to be able to make it out to this one too, seeing as we had so much fun and I still have my voucher from the WIN to use up!!!!!! Will do my best to gat a sitter and show up!
I think you should have a whole section on famous lines in the movies.... for example:

I've always wanted to learn how to sign.... with my hands.... for the deaf, just to clear that up. I find it fascinating that people can be so animated with hand gestures, and have a whole conversation just simply moving hands. Even body language and facial expressions come into play and I love it. I've gone so far as to find a book, and read it, and tried to practice but it's difficult with just one person!
The only phrase I picked up and can do perfectly is......
*raises her hand to her mouth, taps her lips and lets it fall forward, palm up*
"Thank you"

From the decorations to the candies on the table, the balloons, the chocolate hearts and personal "thank you" valentines, the laminated drink and food menus just for POFers, the stickers for the name tags..... just everything, you two really put so much into this party it amazes me. So thank you from the bottoms of our very big hearts for everything, DB and Vamp, you guys are awesome!!!!!
It was so nice to be out in the middle of a crowd of people that I have met before, or at least 80% of them.... watching everyone laughing and dancing..... all the nice hugs and kisses from my fishie friends.....and no matter which way I turned I bumped into someone I could hug.... can't get much better than that!!!!!
Thanks everyone, for everything! (That about covers it!)

OGS, thank you so much for putting this together, the kids and I enjoyed the brunch as a prelude to our day. We followed up with a movie and some arcade games which put a nice close on a family type of outing.
As you all could tell, my little ones are quite social and don't hesitate to speak to people around them, thanks to you all for putting up with the inquiries and the butting in.... meh, kids are kids, some are still trainable!
GREAT omelettes by the way..... and oooooo those persimmons!!!! LOL

I'm truly sorry for the bad experience you two ladies had in trying to put together an event and all those nasty emails..... regardless of opinion, no one deserves to be barraged with unkind words. I wish those things didn't happen, however, like a lot of other things in life, they do, and we must learn to deal. I don't think though that we should let one bad apple spoil the whole pie for the rest of our lives and perhaps one day in the future you might make another attempt at doing something fun for everyone!
I just wanted everyone to know that I have been talking to a fellow fish about organizing a POF Family Picnic this summer, in a public area like Center Island or perhaps Kew Beach where we can all come together and enjoy the day. Most kids absolutely LOVE doing things with thier parents and other children too so why not take advantage of the great network we have here and do it. Organized games such as frisbee golf or baseball, perhaps some age appropriate races like the egg on a spoon or three legged race which include kids and parents together will do NO HARM to anyone unless you put a negative spin on it. I absolutely love the people I know on POF, my children enjoy the friendships they have made and I wouldn't hesitate to involve them in anything that was APPROPRIATE.
To insinuate that pedophiles are lurking on POF is ridiculous when you really think about it. Perhaps they are but perhaps they live in your neighborhood too. As others have said, you can't live your life in fear, have some confidence in your intuition and ability as a parent. If something sounds, or feels unsafe to you, take yourself out of the situation and carry on.

~Family events..... frowned upon??

I attended the family day at the zoo... it was put together very casually, not really advertised as a "singles event" on the main pages, but it turned out to be one of the best events I've been at. I met a lot of parents and children that day and my kids made friends that will last a very long time. I think it also helps our children to socialize with other children and yes, adults too, under the watchful eye of mom or dad. Then everyone was invited back to my place for an ice cream sundae party, geared more for the kids than the grown ups, but I think everyone enjoyed it just the same. The kids were great, they all played together outside and with all the adults around we all kept an eye on them.... it was a great event that I would do again in a heartbeat.
Just like any other "posted" event, with children allowed to attend or not, those without children always have the same options as every other party..... don't sign up if you don't want to... simple!
I personally would like to see more events that we could include our children in.... am attending a brunch downtown tomorrow and taking my kids with me. I don't have a problem with them meeting the people that I socialize with and I don't mind introducing them to my friends so why would friends from POF be any different????? Understandable that some people have thier own reason for not including thier children but for me personally I think it enriches all of our lives when we do things together!

<div class='quote'>(though now I have a few more questions for MissCheviousone)
Ask me, ask me already!!!!!!
What was our final score anyway.... 18 out of 30 was it????? Which still leaves a lot to be desired so to speak, we're no experts by any stretch of the imagination. Which of course means, we still need to keep practising!!!

Big thank yous to the the team and for all the hard work that went into this event. Glad the weather didn't play as much as a factor in the attendance as we all were thinking might happen and we had a nice little crowd show up.
