Are you willing to relocate?
Posted:
8/20/2009 8:04:20 PM
Am I willing to relocate to be with that "special person"?
Yes...
...with some conditions.
I think there would have to be a long talk first about what both of our expected roles would be, in the relationship and at this new location. Household bread winner? No problem... what is the job market like there? House husband? Odd... but I'd be willing to give it a try, what are your expectations? I would need to have a PLAN. Not necessarily set in stone, but at least a solid direction and a "Well that didn't work, how about I/we..." backup.

Thirty and not married
Posted:

I am also 35 and never married. I've family who are fairly concerned (and often express it) about this fact, but as I keep telling them I just haven't found the person out there that fits me. *shrug* Nothing wrong with taking your time, especially if you're trying to avoid the 45%+ divorce ratio that this country seems to enjoy these days.

Guys: What is your intake with Gamer and Computer Chics?
Posted:

Is my problem that I am too much like the guys to be considered dating material? Liking games and can tell you what is wrong with your computer?
I know so many computer geeks/nerds out there (I'm one of them) whom would love to meet a gamer chic... and most of them, in my personal opinion, a woman wouldn't touch with a 10 foot cattle prod. In my experience it seems that most really nice / cool guys aren't gamers... and most gamers aren't cool. It's a nasty little nitch to find yourself falling into.

No response??
Posted:

I agree with those in the "need something to respond to" camp.
Over my time here I've gotten a couple of "Hello" messages. That's it. What do I say in return? Had actually replied, "And hello to you too" to one of them, and got a reply back asking when our first date would be. Eh? I don't even know who you are, other then your (often) barely filled out profile.
If you're going to contact someone, please at least give them something to work with. What did you like about their profile? A question about a favorite "whatever"? Anything, really. Seriously, it helps a lot.

Why do men get intimidated?
Posted:
2/19/2008 9:01:47 PM
I would say that it sounds like many of these men have personal image issues. *shrug*
For Luckii, I would think that many the men she has met so far just feel uncomfortable being with someone whom is either physically stronger then they are, or (more likely in my own personal opinion) are more used to physical violence (which your post had suggested). Men are used to being the dominating factor in those roles, and we aren't used to the exceptions. No dating suggestions, other then keep looking.
For Synergi, I agree... it's male self esteem. Many men who aren't physically fit are intimidated by women who are, and often fall into a mind set of, "Will she later dump me for a more physically fit / attractive man? Am I going to get nagged to become more physically active myself? Should I even bother with all of this? etc. etc. etc." It's a stupid and vicious cycle, and there probably isn't a whole lot that a woman can do about it, other then hope for a few primary life goals / hobbies that you both have in common (and use those as your initial relationship lynch-pin).

Does your screen name fit your personality?

I guess it depends on how my day has gone. Sometimes my online name very much reflects my personality, and sometimes it's the total opposite.

Do Christian Women Scare You Off ???
Posted:
2/19/2008 8:24:32 PM
I generally avoid those, of any faith, who appear very strong about their faith.
I am not a religious person, and have no problems with other people being religious. I do, however, have a major issue with anyone whom tries to push their religion upon me, or who states that because of their religion they are somehow morally superior to me, and more often then not encounter this with people who very strongly state their religious beliefs in their profiles.
Could I be missing that special someone because of this, possibly, but it has also saved me from more then one head achy dinner date as well.

why do younger guys tend to like older women?
Posted:
2/19/2008 8:14:58 PM
When I was in my mid 20's I was usually interested in women who were in their early to mid 30's, and a lot of it was due to maturity levels. By that time in my life I was starting to look around for someone to settle down with, but most the woman my own age were very much into flirt / party / pretty boy stage, and were not ready to settle down. Many of the woman I knew who were in their 30's, however, were starting to move past that and seriously look for that one person to settle down for the long haul with. I am not a looker, and have NEVER been called handsome or attractive. I have, however, been called amusing, funny, nice, and stable, and these things start to become more important then looks as one gets older.

Crushes? Entirely too often... and I'm glad I've finally learned the skill of keeping my damned mouth shut (most of the time).

Men and emotions... curious
Posted:
3/19/2007 10:14:17 PM
Talking about emotions, for me at least, isn't easy, for at least two reasons that I can easily see...
First, I just don't have a lot of experience doing it. It isn't something that was particularly encouraged when I was a child ("Suck it up! Be a man!"), nor it is something that often came up in the friendships that I had. End result is a lot of uncertainly as to HOW to talk about them, when to bring it up, and so forth.
And second, which ties into the first a bit, is that because of my inexperience I have a very hard time conveying what I mean to... as in, what I say and what I mean can often end up being VERY different once it comes out of my mouth. Often, I get into a lot of trouble before I have a chance elaborate or specify things... a couple of times it's gotten me into a LOT of trouble in fact! Which, of course, just makes me want to talk about it even less.
It's a vicious circle.

Hadn't thought of it that way... but now that you have mentioned it, I'm quite sure it's EXACTLY how I will be by next weekend since I am working straight through until then. *bleah*

--- Unknowing Puppet ---
I stare at the strings attached to my hands
watching as they do their dance
wondering who is controlling them
and if I'll get them back
Now I look behind me
and I see some strings there too
making me jump and wander
where there is work to do
I begin to fear and wonder
if there are strings attached as well
to my very thoughts that write this
but that's assuming I could tell...

Men dating single mothers
Posted:
1/8/2006 11:06:50 PM
Slight sidetracking, but I have noticed something over the last year and am curious about it...
Having looked at several online dating sites I see a lot of women who are single parents looking for relationships... and they always have sons, never daughters. I know that can't always be the case, but it is all I personally have seen so far. Is there a reason for this appearant lopsidedness?
Having lived with children of both genders for some years now, as well as one who was autistic, my experience is that dealing with girls at the younger years seems an awful lot easier then boys... though boys are a HELL of a lot easier to deal with during the teen years.
