Profile Drinking Option !!
Posted:
7/19/2009 3:06:09 AM
Prefer Not To Say:- What are you hiding?
No:- This is me but I don't consider myself teetotal. As a rule I don't drink due to it conflicting with medication or because I drive an awful lot but I may fancy the odd glass of something under certain circumstances.
Socially:- IMO This means you drink when you go out with friends.
More than 3 times a week:- Could mean a glass of wine with dinner or a couple of cans in the evening to unwind or it could mean you're a full blown alcoholic.

I think you are doing the right thing. The vet could be wrong (remind me to tell you the story of my cats sex change op sometime) and how many disabled children have been born that doctors have written off yet have proved them wrong time and time again?
One of my cats is nicknamed Spesh short for special needs, he fell in the toilet as a kitten and hasn't been the same since but I wouldn't have him any other way

Silliest thing you've done for love?
Posted:
7/11/2009 5:28:44 PM
We'd been going through a rocky patch and weren't living together at the time. While he was out I climbed through the kitchen window and stuck post-it notes saying I LOVE YOU all over the place because I missed him so much. Obviously I was much younger, thinner, more optimistic and less informed than I am now.
If I ever feel that way about a guy again I wouldn't hesitate to do something silly.

Posted:

Reading someone else's mail is despicable, if she felt the need to hack the guy's account in the first place then she must have had suspicions about his fidelity already and Jimney Cricket had been gagged because there has to be a point when you think to yourself 'this is a bit NUTS!'
Is the guy cheating? ABSOFECKINGLUTELY!!!
As someone who has seen two of her neighbours run off with people from Facefook in the last six months leaving behind a 10 year relationship and a 20 year marriage behind respectively, darn tootin' he's playing away and the woman in question needs to stop humiliating herself and grow a spine IMHO.

Best time to have been born?

I was born in 1968.
I would have loved to have been born around 1950, being a teenager in the 60's
The music was the best there's ever been, social revolution was commonplace, free love, neighbourhoods policed themselves, it was the dawning of an era.

Do hope you find it him soon Trish.
My neighbour lost one of her cats a couple of years ago so when I got my kittens I kept them in, they are permanent house cats, I'd be beside myself if anything happened to them.
Checking around your neighbourhood at night is a good idea, he might just be on the prowl or temporarily shacked up with some shameless hussy.

I do like where I live because of the people or should I say the majority of the people. Warm and friendly folk. Unfortunately I dislike the reputation the area has got but I hope that's going to change and instead of sitting on my arse complaining about it I am involved in making some of those changes happen.
I do envy some of you who live in the country or out of the way. I could never live in a city.

I don't watch much TV but I have watched a series called True blood recently, pretty good, in fact i'd say it's fangtastic :) , I dunno if it's on UK TV yet though
It's on FX channel Friday 17th July after the current season of Dexter ends. Welcome to BonTemps, looks good!
OT When I used to pick my youngest up from school we had a bit of a wait until his brother finished so we started reading HP in the car, have since read all the books and seen the films. Didn't like Order of the phoenix though, thought it a little dull.

Teaching in the UK

Look at your CV because schools will often hire teachers with extra curricular skills. What can you add that will make you more of an asset to the school over other candidates? Just as an example your main area is English but do you have any hobbies or interests that you could incorporate into your teaching?
Good luck

I have osteo-arthritis in my lower spine so not the same as you have. Some rheumatoid arthritis can indeed be caused by a virus. If you have rheumatoid then it can be diagnosed with a blood test and there are various drug therapies available to keep it manageable.

Any payment of benefit will be back dated to when you first claimed, the period during which your application is processed can vary depending on what area you're in and how busy they are, could be about 6 weeks.

Sadly Eddie benefits and plain English do not go in the same sentence.
Housing and council tax benefit can be claimed by filling in a single form unfortunately it's about 8 pages long. You'll have to show proof of all bank accounts, savings, investments and what if any money (job seekers allowance) you have coming in. Usually you'll get the form along with your JSA application.
If you really get stuck with the form then the Citizens Advice Bureau will be able to help you.
Best of luck

Have you ever dated anyone you found physically unattractive only to fall in love with them later?
Posted:

I tend to be attracted more by charisma than physical attraction, for me there are men who are just too good looking and there are men who just ooze sexuality. I'm also a big believer in chemistry and instinct.
Take my ex missing a couple of teeth, losing his hair, beard and glasses, skinny as a rake but in bed AWESOME.

They're gonna think well I'm only gonna get a caution for it it can't be that serious. None of that will happen to me you're just being melodramatic. The point is if it's such a serious crime, which it is, then the punishment should reflect that. If not then you're being hyocritical and sending out mixed messages. It is exactly this sort of soft sentencing which is the cause of so much crime in this country

So what about an answer to my second question? Whats your message to other 15 year old girls thinking of doing the same?
Like I said we don't know the circumstances under which she took the car so she might not have thought about it at all and everyone is jumping to the conclusion that she was 'joyriding'.
My message to other 15yr olds would be to make them look at the possible consequences of their actions and the devastation that such tragedies cause. Another method is to get young people involved in a training excersise, we did this recently by getting some young men to volunteer to be cut out of vehicles in an accident simulation. It certainly made them think about speed and took the swagger out of their stride.

The only way not to 'criminilise' her would be to make it legal for 15 year old girls to drive with no license, insurance or lights. Is that what you are advocating? What would be your message to other 15 year old girls who fancy a joyride having seen they can get away with it?
I was just thinking about the situation from the girl's point of view and by criminilise I meant for her to enter into the CJS wasn't necessarily the best option.

Make it clear that you cannot promise not to tell
Oh please no............. just no ........they are not adults and they don't need this rigid 'cold" approach.
Your approach is more about protecting the parents moral code rather than the childs.
Children capable of asking you to make a promise will know 100% that it isnt a guarantee that they are going to avoid the consequences of doing something very very bad.....they are simply trying to come clean and possibly reduce those consequences NOT avoid them all together IF it is something serious.
It's not necessarily about the child doing something bad. It quite often can be something bad is happening to them. They might be self-harming for example, they could be being bullied and the fact that they can confide in someone is a relief but they're unlikely to do so if they feel unable to trust the person.
The organisations I work with are very clear about confidentiality and child protection, it is from my training that I give this advice.

As we don't know all the circumstances of what happened, like why she took the car, has she done anything like this before or has any kind of record then I don't think criminalising a young girl would benefit herself or the public.
Looking at what COULD have happened I think if she had been taken to see victims of road traffic accidents or the poor families that have lost someone in an accident it would have far more impact than a punitive sentence.

Having sexual dreams about women means you crave affection
so not only do you need a good seeing to but you need a cuddle after
Personally I don't like women in general let alone sexually (except Kath) I likes the c*ck and women are far too complicated and difficult to manipulate
If you do decide to bat for the other side make sure you describe yourself as bi-curious, the serious lesbians won't appreciate being messed around. Think of the money you'll save on condoms

How did I end up being the bad guy here?
Asking someone how they are is very limiting, either you're fine or you're not and if you're not then moaning about it isn't exactly an endearing quality. Just last week I got a "how are you?" message and I replied and tried to get a dialogue going with an open question, guy mesages back with a short one sentence answer. Couple of days pass and he sends me another "how are you?"
If someone likes you how hard is it for them to look at your profile and message about some commonality or tell you what attracted them in the first place? It's not rocket science, it only requires a bit of effort.
I recently got a message from a guy, it was short but at least he bothered to read my profile. We've been chatting a few days now, we have a lot in common and I have my fingers crossed.
So it's not about size but quality, it's not about looks but personality.
I also want to make it clear it wasn't my intention to polarise this thread, I'm not bashing blokes but there has been a bit of talk on here about response or lack thereof and I thought it might be useful to have a little insight.

Q: Hi sexy/sweetie/beautiful (delete as appropriate) how are you today?
A: I'm mighty fine thanks but you obviously can't be a*sed to read my profile and have difficulty making conversation.
I don't know about you but these messages are starting to p!ss me off, why should I bother to reply to a message from someone who shows no interest in my personality and makes little effort to compose a message.
So when you're moaning about sending 100's of messages and getting read/deleted response THIS IS WHY!
What makes you delete and what makes you answer?

straightophobia or plain simple hateful control
Posted:

The bloke who complained should be charged for wasting police time. There was nothing in the literature homophobic or hateful. The complainant said he was offended because of the evangelical standpoint on homosexuality not because there was any specific reference contained within the literature.
The key phrase here
After the police found no evidence that the leaflet was offensive, the individual making the complaint changed his claim.
That to me means he made a false accusation and should be charged accordingly, if someone made a false rape claim for example people would be up in arms.
I am an atheist, I support gay rights but what the man did was plain wrong.

Similar to what Mary said, look at it as your inner child-protection policy.
Make it clear that you cannot promise not to tell, depending on what they tell you, you have to act accordingly. You should also say that you would only breach their confidence if you thought they were at risk, that risk could constitute a number of things but their well-being is your main concern.
Trust takes a long time to earn especially that of a child so it is quite upsetting that you felt you couldn't keep her confidence but only you know the reason so please don't take this as a criticism. I'm sure you only had her best interests at heart and at least she can open up to you just be careful what you do pass on because if it came out you would lose that trust she placed in you.

Depends on how long you've been together? What was the son's reaction, what is your relationship with him like?
All in all if your GF is ok with it then maybe it was a good thing, it's never easy dealing with teenage lads on your own so she's probably glad of the support.
