Lenny's pretty cut too. If I was gay, I'd do him.
I swear I would knock the gay right outta you if you went after my Lenny!
Steven Tyler was mentioned...I concur even though i recently read a medical paper discussing the fact he had recent fractures due to his having osteo...lol..so i will say 20 yrs ago Steven Tyler.
Jon Bon Jovi just gets better and better with age....
I recently saw an Argentinian polo player on Oprah who literally made me drop the remote- his hotness startled me so much!

However, I think the question was actually in regards to dating military personnel and not about our thoughts on war.
My answer is no.
Too many uncles who were military men and behind closed doors were control freaks and brutes commanding their families like they were troops.
No.

3 yr sentence for allowing children to freeze to death

^^Thanks for posting that; I think that is what was bothering me so much.
Generalizations drive me nuts....there is always more to a story than just the end result.
This end result was a tragedy but even in tragedy there are lessons learned by all involved, even peripherally.

funny thing is, they make a drug that makes you reticent and relaxxed illegal yet legalize a drug that makes you irrational, violent, sleezy, and stupid.
Isn't that the truth!
You nailed it right there.

I have worked with alot of immigrants in the past few years in medical.
Without a HINT of doubt, I can say they are the most hard working, loving, conscientious people I have ever had the pleasure to meet.
And as far as the degrees go, it is disgusting how many women i worked with are care aids here but were registered nurses in the Phillippines or Rwanda or the Congo, etc.
And the MAIN reason most of them are not working in that position here is that we have an inflated sense of our own worth as far as the degrees transferring over.
What a bloody waste in our staff-starved health care system to have a Medical Doctor driving a cab...just senseless.
And for years i could sit still and not say anything when people were trying to be sly about being racist and bigots, but those days are over.
The OP is a ****ing racist and has proven it over and over again on these forums and I am sick of her blatant ignorance and intolerance.
One last thing.....I just want to say that my Filipino friends are like family to me and have offered to feed myself and my children in their homes like family and that is alot f'ing more than alot of white people have ever offered to do.
You want to be red neck and racist....then do it...don't dance around it all sly-like..come right out and say it, if you are so damn sure about your opinions.
I just did.
vvvv
the folks i worked with all spoke english..and had better grammar in most cases than the canadian women working there...lol
that wasn't an issue.
Peace out Alberta

Calgary to Winnipeg one time, years ago, with two kids under five in the backseat of a Camaro (not so great on ice
).
Total white out just east of Regina.
Couldn't see the road, where it ended, the ditch..nada.
Followed a semi straight from Regina all the way to Virden,Mb. (the worst part of the trip).
White knuckles, cursing myself, the weather, the damn highway, the circumstances.
Wanted to cry so bad but didn't want to wake the kids in the backseat and scare them.
Anytime my car slowed up too much, the semi driver slowed down too to wait for me.
Regina to Virden is at most a 4 hour drive.....took me 7 hours that night and coasted into the town on fumes and a prayer.
Once I figured out I had gotten us somewhere safe with a hotel room paid for, I absolutely broke down and just told the kids I was excited about seeing Gramma the next day and was crying happy tears.
I have never forgotten that feeling of being totally scared $hitless and wishing more than I ever had in my life that I had a man with me ( I know that sounds lame to Femi-nazis but there ARE moments in life when you NEED a level-headed, fine- driving man!!)

Soft tissue Injuries
Posted:
2/9/2008 2:52:12 PM
Soft tissue injuries are injuries that cannot be proven by xray, mri, ct-scans, etc...right?
I am not too sure on that so correct me if i am wrong.
I heard a long time back that Alberta was the litigation province and from what I have seen it sure can be.
As for pain and suffering, I dunno...everyone is maybe different, cus I was hit by a frigging freight train and never needed $4000.00 in physio or chiros afterwards.
But then i had broken bones and such like that and sure didn't trust a chiropractor to be cracking me "out of pain"...lol
I went to Physio like 5 times, 3 of those times I actually had hands on care, the other two times they directed me to a mat and told me to do the exercises they showed me the last few times.
I think I paid like 20 bucks myself for each visit and my insurance paid the rest and I mean no disrespect to Physios but it seemed senseless to me to pay to just go there and do it myself..i could do it at home for nothing! lol
I really don't understand the finer points of auto insurance but I do honestly think that in most cases, for this soft tissue stuff, 4 grand seems reasonable to me.
How can someone be incapacitated for the rest of their life from a fender bender, unless you have been cruising along living your life just waiting for that opportunity?

I like Daisy's idea and I think I am like that, too.
I look at every new year as a new chance to try and make the changes in my life that need to be changed..."try" being the operative word here!
December was a nightmare for me as far as my work went.
A palliative unit is not a happy place to be over the holidays and dealing with so many families losing their loved ones was hard emotionally and spiritually on myself and my coworkers.
We actually discussed ways we could drag ourselves out of the dumps here and decided we would all go out once a month for a meal and laugh or even cry, just release...any and all emotions or baggage we were carrying around from the last couple of months.
Being with friends and sharing, letting go, talking things out...rather than holding things in...that works for me...and cheesecake....cheesecake helps ENORMOUSLY
So,if any of you see a table of crazy ladies in a restaurant in the next month or so laughing so hard diet coke is spraying out their noses or crying for no apparent reason in front of their plate of Mudslide cheesecake...be kind.

Do you work for the Calgary Police Service?
I don't believe so...but she sure seems know a thing or two about a thing or two, if you know what I mean...lol
My guess places her as leader of the lynching mob...no more.....no less.
BTW: Murder is premeditated.....and before anyone argues that the guy knew he was too drunk to drive.....premeditated means he entered the truck thinking " Ima gonna go plow into a family and kill them all and this is how I am going to go about it."
This is such a sad story...I think the woman who posted above who actually KNEW the family impacted said it all best.
There but for the grace of God.....

Please tell me it was at one of those Karaoke nights....that would make it perfect!
And her saying people are lucky they never confronted her in person...ooooeeeeeee Tony Soprano...I LOVE it!
My money at this point is on GEM....just a hunch...the other one's head will explode and all the b i t c h eology and Old Tramp 101 courses in the world aint gonna save her in this bout.

Cell phone bills
Posted:
12/14/2007 7:28:01 AM
While I won't dispute that this guy was a bit slow on the uptake, I can attest to the fact that Bell has the WORST customer service of any company I have ever dealt with.
Two years ago, I decided to order a few cellphones from them on this family plan they had, as my kids were both of the age to get their own cellphones.
So, I make the call, place the order, and while on the phone, the CS gives me the three new phone numbers we will have for the phones, promising to mail the phones out immediately. Well, the phones didn't arrive, I phone to ask why, and was given the never-ending loop for about a week....the run-around from one idiot to yet another.
Shortly after that, I receive a bill in the mail from Bell....for $2400.00.
All for long distance calls placed to Cambodia, the Phillipines, Dominican Republic and alot of other places I have never been and will likely never go.
So, I call Bell.
Ask them how I can be billed for calls off phones that never arrived.
This is where the fun started for me....I made no less than four calls PER WEEK for over a YEAR about this $hit.
Everytime I got yet another idiot who promised to " clear this up" and never did.
So, I kept getting bills WITH interest tacked on.
When I finally mentioned that I was just going to call the CPS about it, as it had to be fraudulent useage of the phones while still with Bell BY employees...HOW ELSE could that have happened.....I was told THEIR fraud department would call me...I was not allowed to have the direct number for them OR a Supervisor's number...they would call ME.
They never did.....and I called.....four, five times a week...for just under a YEAR, trying to get it fixed.
I finally emailed the Better Business Bureau about it and got a response immediately...by phone. Apparently, Bell is notorious for things like this, and I was even directed to customer websites where others had been fleeced in ways you cannot even imagine.
So, while I agree it is too bad this happened to the guy and I wonder as to how much he will have to pay, I also know from experience that they are the worst company in the world to deal with....period.
After my ONE contact with the BBB, i received a call from a Supervisor in the Fraud Dept at Bell telling me all charges had been deleted and would I care to sign up for their newest family plan, by chance?
I saved that message on my phone for a year!

I just talked to my friend back in Manitoba where I am originally from and i agree with Jestie....winters here are a cakewalk....nothing like back East in the prairies.
I remember getting off a plane in Winterpeg one time in January after I had lived out here for a few years and being shocked by how much I had forgotten how cold it is back there.....you literally feel like the skin on your face is being ripped off by the winds....haha
Back home it snows and winter starts and then it is straight winter until it thaws in the Spring..at least here we get chinooks and warm days once in awhile and the winters are way shorter!

Here is a good link to a story on some Canadians who were wronfully convicted and spent years of their lives in prison because of it:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/wrongfullyconvicted/
I should state that I am not against people being tried and convicted using the laws of the country they are residing in as much as I am against using the death penalty due to the fact that is also murder, albeit state or government-sanctioned murder, which somehow seems to make it ok to some folks.
As far as the costs to house criminals, i could give a rat's ass about that because i see enough waste of tax payers money going for all sorts of ridiculous salaries and pensions and perks....
Google Steven Truscott if you have time for a good read...Canada's system sure has worked well for him, hey?

I will stand a bit behind Matt and Uber to avoid the tossing of garbage my way but would like to offer this to anyone willing to take the time to read it:
Since 1973, 123 people in 25 states have been released from death row because they were not guilty. In addition, seven people have been executed even though they were probably innocent. A study published in the Stanford Law Review documents 350 capital convictions in this century, in which it was later proven that the convict had not committed the crime. Of those, 25 convicts were executed while others spent decades of their lives in prison. Fifty-five of the 350 cases took place in the 1970s, and another 20 of them between l980 and l985.
Our criminal justice system cannot be made fail-safe because it is run by human beings, who are fallible. Executions of innocent persons occur

Making Mistakes?
Posted:
11/14/2007 8:30:05 PM
Something that was hard for me to get used to is the fact that likely none of us anymore will be with the same company we are with now in ten years time.
My last position I was there over ten years and I am really not someone who likes to jump around alot...I like to build my holidays, etc and know my job well and the people I work with.
Starting new at a different place is not something I enjoy.
It seems really common now to jump from one job to the next and unlike the "old days" where the employers looked down on you for it, today it is no big deal at all.
The part where you mentioned what you are doing made me wonder how stressful this job will be for you if you are responsible for recruiting of staff, etc....kinda unsure what a HR Generalist does actually.....I know we have one at my company but I have never spoken to her at all and really do not know in what situation I would have to!!
Being in the health care field right now, i can honestly tell you if you are gonna be the one responsible for making sure the shifts are staffed, your life is going to be hell very soon.
Not trying to be negative, just honestly trying to help you with a difficult decision.
Trust your gut.....if you are fairly new to this place, maybe give it a chance, but if it feels all wrong and you can afford it, quit and find something you feel a better fit with.
Best of Luck

I used to have a cat that should have worked for customs.
Anytime, anywhere, if that fat kitty smelled pot, he would dart off in that direction.
One time, I saw him dive right off my back deck and into the neighbor's yard on the hunt....pretty funny to see the looks on the guys' faces who were just opening up their sliding patio doors to let the smoke outta their house.
I have him on a home video with a choice between catnip and weed and he chose the weed every single time.
Ahhh the good ole days.

Getting Nakkid with the Lights On?

Isn't it men who usually have the "chicken legs and wrinkled bits" trubble?
OT: It probably depends on who you are with, the relationship, the mood, etc, etc...
I have done it in the light
I've done it in the dark
I've done it on a car
I've done it in a park (not the one trubble does it at)
Also, there is something to be said about that absolutely silent pitch black room sex....with someone you have been in a relationship with for awhile...hard to explain well...just that really quiet, in-tune, random out of nowhere action....no words....all sensation.
I agree with trubble on one point tho...no use hiding anything, eventually they are gonna see every inch of you if you continue to do it....at least the ones I have been with are like that anyways....very inquisitive.

Why do people race trains??
Posted:
9/23/2007 4:48:34 PM
I would just like to let it be known that not all people hit by trains are idiots or trying to "Race" a train
I am so thankful the guy above me posted cus I don't know if I would have the nerve to post this and risk being flamed right off this site....I, also, was travelling one day in the country and came to an unmarked railroad intersection...the train came through a corridor of trees..a treeline.
When checking, the sun was in my eyes and I couldn't see well at all...my passenger was jumping around in the car yacking a mile a minute and distracting the shit out of me, so I did what alot of people do, I guess....looked fast both ways, thought I was good to go....and that was it....the rest is forever a part of my personal history and who I am.
My girlfriend died, I broke every bone in my body, got a ride from STARS and lived to tell the tale...barely.
And while I don't "think" I am an idiot, perhaps that day I was "careless" and if anyone wants to call me either of those things, then I can live with that, I guess.
In the hospital, the staff used to point me out to residents and whisper about how i was the " one who got schmucked by the train"..like a..well...trainwreck, I guess..lol
So, moral of the story is make sure you look real closely...don't allow yourself to be distracted while driving and above all, don't judge people so easily if you do not know all the circumstances
By the way...the intersection I was struck at had a total of 18 fatalities within a ten year span, so they finally changed it and there is now no intersection there.

This type of topic always cracks me up..it has been done before and you always get the hard asses who think pot sends you right to a crack pipe and the stoners who say.."heyyyyy duuuude......no worries..."
Personally, I don't worry about potsmokers unless they are chronics and then I look at it kinda like I do people who drink every day...do I judge them? NO. Do I want a relationship with them long term? Probably not, as I have been there, done that with the weed and grew out of it, I guess.
There are people I know who I would much rather see smoking weed than drinking and there are people I just can't stand to be around cus they are stupid enough without adding dope to the mix
Prefer Not To Say: I always assume they are pot smokers...I never assume they are crackheads or anything worse cus they would have already pawned their computer for more and wouldn't be posting here.

Remarriage
Posted:
9/22/2007 11:46:31 AM
I guess it depends on where the kids spend the majority of their lives...
If they are primarily at Mom's, then Dad remarrying probably won't even affect them much...and maybe the woman will be a POSITIVE in the kid's lives, if dear old Dad wasn't so organized or in tune with his kids...
For me, my kids would have to accept a man in some ways before I would ever remarry, even though they are both almost out the door now.
I have always had a rule at my house...you don't have to like someone I am seeing or in a relationship with and I don't have to like someone the kids have chosen, but we WILL be civil and respectful to these people who are in our home.
As long as the new step parent doesn't jump into disciplining the kids all the time, I think it will be ok.
And your ex stating she will NOT be a step parent but a new wife for him is very telling, I think...he maybe doesn't want to step on your toes?

Flowers - are they erotic?
Posted:

Yes flowers can be erotic...especially in artwork.
My oldest did an art piece in grade twelve for his exam that was basically floral in a really abstract way and no one caught the joke between him and his buddies except the tester from ACAD...in his painting he had dozens of vagee-gees ....literally dozens.
Some open, some closed, some pink, some white, some dusky mauve...oh he had all kinds in there.
It was such a proud mom moment for me.

I actually know alot of people that let their kids sleep with them in their beds...some as old as 11....and don't agree at all with kids that age sleeping with Mom and Dad...
She is 0nly 5...I think she has just had a scare or else she has been sleeping with Mom for awhile and wants to do it at your place too.
Not really a huge deal at 5...both my sons wanted to sleep with me and the ex when they were sick or scared when they were that little, but it was never an every night thing.
It's too bad you can't talk to your ex about it or even all three of you sit down to discuss it together, if she can be a lil schemer at times..hehe
I am so grateful that my kid's Dad and I have maintained a good relationship through the years..it is so much more helpful when dealing with the problems you run into.
Best of luck with your daughter....and watch out for the sleeping in the same bed stuff....like I said..i have a pal with an eleven year old daughter that is STILL demanding it.....yikes.

I was just thinking that! ^^
Duffy is like the Dr. Phil of the Alberta forums!
Once he posts, I know, and I don't have to look any further for the answers.....maybe he should start his own Dear Duffy page on the net...we could all just ask him random things and he could give us answers....
Keep up the good work Duffy...some of us notice!
vvv...sagey....indeed !
Also don't want to insinuate that Duffy is anything as smarmy as Dr. Phil...was meant as a compliment.....maybe we could just petition for Duff to take over his show!

I have actually had the pleasure of getting to know quite a few 20-year old girls/women through my son and I can say I have never once met one with that attitide, although I am sure they are out there somewhere.
The 20-somethings I know are all working their asses off working and going to school, with barely any leisure time or spare money for luxuries.
Most if not all live at home with their parents while doing all this because in this city there is no way they can move out and accomplish their goals...we were so much luckier back when I was their age.
It really isn't an age thing, so much as an ethical and moral thing..I have actually seen far more women my own age thinking the world owes them a favor and sticking it out in horrible marriages cus they are so used to living well and don't feel like getting off their asses and supporting themselves.
Wastes of space and air are ageless...not just 20.

Saskatoons are a prairie thing, I think.
Growing up, we had saskatoons in the freezer and saskatoon pies all summer long.
Lots of rhubarb and zucchini too....you would wake up in the morning and someone had left a bag of each on your step.
I miss those days

^^^^ Money has never and will never buy class.

Honestly, if you send out a quick "to the point" one-liner mail, I always think you have done that X 30......so not really my thing and I likely won't respond to it.
Mention something in the profile or if they are a forum person, maybe mention something that caught your eye about one of their posts.
Maybe some more people will comment and give you some more answers...that was just my take on the messages from men on here.

While her six grandchildren were visiting, the oldest boy (age 13) shouted, "Let's take her down!" and all six of the children attacked her, knocking her to the ground, then groping and hitting her.
I have either had one hella hard long week or I need some intensive counselling, cus when i just read that I spit beer out at the monitor....
I just cannot even fathom someone's grandchildren being so illbred as to "take down" granny and then "grope" her...where is this shit happening at??
Then I got a visual of my boys "taking my Mom down and groping her" and I cracked up again....I'm sorry...this was just too much for me on a Friday....but thanks for the laughs......

Do we live for others ~ or for ourselves????

I wonder sometimes, if there is a point in life when one looks and says, "OMG....I have had the greatest life ~ how lucky I am...." I have yet to witness that ~ it seems most want to "hang on." I do wonder why that is. ????????
Speaking from a purely professional stand point, there are indeed many people who make the decision to let go and have the most peaceful and beautiful passings imagineable ( hard to wrap your head around until you have seen it, I know).
The deaths that are hard to witness and seem incredibly painful or traumatic to family members are usually the passing of people who have unresolved issues and have not come to peace with themselves or past things they have done.
Speaking from a personal viewpoint, you are never prepared to just "let your parent or loved one go"....
You are reduced to a child once again and think as a child does....you are scared of being abandoned...only it isn't just at the grocery store....it is the world itself you are being left alone in...pretty traumatic even for an adult.
When I had to make this decision for my own Mom, I remember telling the nurses that I should be more CALM...more RATIONAL....I do this for a LIVING, afterall...thank god they were kind souls who explained to me that my Mom would never be my Mom ever again....they could keep her alive but she would never return to me in her former state....a vegetable on a machine.
I made the decision to let her go and do not regret it to this day as she would not want to live like that....if you can call it living.
One thing I see at work alot and would really like to let people know is that your loved ones are ready to go....want to go, in fact...but hold on in spite of pain and suffering...for you.
They will tell us they are tired and suffering...but that their children or spouses are unwilling to let go.
Please allow your loved ones the last control they will ever have in this reality and respect their wishes.

Oh, how I wish I could tell you I came home from work and made a delicious and yet healthy five course culinary masterpiece......
My younger son was so very hungry by the time I walked in the door that I ended up watching him plow through 2 Baconaters from Wendy's while I sipped on a cooler and ate left over potato salad ...from Sobey's.
*anxiously awaiting the posts from the "plan-ahead" crowd who ate properly tonight in this heat*

Could you do this!

I think this is all about how it will make you feel.
You cannot control how it is going to affect the other girl and I am pretty certain that your sister would not want you to live the rest of your life in sadness or bitterness because of her death.
Harbouring anger, resentment, hate and bitterness will hurt you and everyone who loves you for the rest of your days....forgiveness or rather acceptance is the way to go.
You accept that this is the situation and that by offering forgiveness with your heart, you will be able to move on and live the rest of your life remembering your sister with love and not sadness and revenge for her killer.
I would probably write a letter if it was me in your situation cus i am better at verbalising that way and could get all my thoughts and feelings out in an orderly manner.
To the lady that could not understand forgiveness for a wrong-doing: have you ever seen the faces of people that have been bitter and angry all their lives??
Not a pretty sight at all.
Sending you hugs...from one who understands .
