no-one can help you clean up your account, you will have to delete present account and re-join.
however im confused about something, the site/system automatically logs out members after 15-20 mins inactivity....so one wonders how your roomate came by your password.
mods have no access to private mailings, so they cannot judge you by that.
unfortunatley most peeps on here will judge that you committed the offence yourself, irrespective of whatever excuse.
only course of action is to delete account and start again.

Is there any way you can eliminate...
Posted:

there is an option in mail settings, it is in the first settings box near top....[Allow a user to see that I viewed their profile] is the statement you look for, click for yes or no.
yes = the public can tell if you have viewed them
no = you will not show up on some elses viewed list
note 1)....after changing, remember to update or changes wont take place
note 2)...by opting for this setting, you will also lose ability for one of the searches
note 3)...does it work the other way round? hit and miss.....when i pick option no the views same to tail off, but the odd one or two get thru...when i pick yes, i get to see more of who viewed me.
by clicking for no option, you will get less views by default as the other member wont be clicking back.
if you dont want views at all, best option is go stealth and go hidden, then browse profiles and mail.

sorry seal the above poster is not a site administrator and has no access to individual accounts, in the manner you speak they can however barr members who infringe in the forums.
if you really, really want to make contact with this girl again your only viable legal option is make a note of members site name (or any that you want to remain in contact with) delete your account here...http://www.plentyoffish.com/deleteaccount.aspx
make new account and resume contact.

i think it's highlighted that they online but in slightly different way.....it presently says "instant messenger" in green, will also say "testimonial" if both parties are in faves.
there is no instant messenger by the way, seems to be a hangover from days of yore when we had it, but works in same way....if its lit up, they online...regardless if both in faves.

kev.
2 ways to delete account.
1) log in to your profile, click help (which is 2nd from top left)
on this page, glance across 2nd row of links, look for word "resign"
or
2) on same help page, look at all blue links, look for delete/hide account, click that, this will take you to an info page, look for delete account link, this will take you too same page as option 1.
fill in your details, no need to respond to small questionaire or fill in testimonial.
once deleted you can rejoin using same email address and profile name if you wish.

Last 30 visiting users who haven't received a first contact email in over a day within 50 miles of..

unzipped is correct the returning profiles are members who have not had a FIRST contact from anybody in mileage / city range, but once some has made contact, they dont count even tho they may have messaged again that day/week.
another nifty little tool, is the not yet contacted search....which means not contacted by YOU, find this via.....my matches/search/my city
on this page you will see age range box's next to that you will see box in blue, generally say all users, this is the default search, drop it to reveal choice of users i've contacted or not contacted....big time saver.
enjoy and good luck

hiding is good, infact i reccomend it.
i did it and it gave me time to browse without interruption, then when making contact you can spend quality chat time to just one or two people rather than little bits of meaningless conversation.

it will accept same email, but you will have to delete original account first...otherwise you get a stern message back.
you can use same profile name as well, unless someone nicks it during deletion and registering.

do you have to re-register.....yes
where is looking for info........on right hand side, generally under the ads
mail settings/restrictions......at bottom of profile, these settings are what you can fall foul of.
delete and re-register is only option and keep your eyes peeled....or when searching dont search for anything, select individually...friends, talk email, dating etc, that way the ones with intimate encounters wont show.
good luck.

nope, works in the same principle as a mark / sign on your door if you had the plague....nobody goes near you.
started of life as a publicity stunt, supposed to represent serious member or vip member status, it can be paid for, but most women as part of said stunt got it free, and was there a hullaballoo about it.
plenty of info about it.

Question about updating profile
Posted:
8/20/2009 4:20:05 PM
Gender
Age Between:
Country
Within:
First contact messages must be:
Allow a user to see that I viewed their profile: (HELP)
you should have same set up as this, with the option boxes in the spaces.
the "within" above is the distance section....if you have this and can change distance (75 miles - 20, 000 miles) dont forget to update settings down near bottom
i am assuming that you are in mail settings and not in profile edit or any where else.
if no joy and if you want to, delete your present account and start new one, you can keep same name etc, just copy and save profile text if you want or re-write.
good luck
extra...one more thought, click profile view (yours) scroll down to bottom of your profile, where your mail settings are....all your settings are listed here, at the 75 miles there should be a blue edit link, click this and it should take you to your mail settings, if you dont have this blue edit link, then something is wrong and account delete might be your only option.

Bugs, help, suggestions all being ignored??

hi op, i rekon that admin has been having a tinker of late and shifted a few bits and pieces around.
couple of things for you, there are 2 types of no contact / no e-mail search
1) no e-mail, this will return a search of members who have not had a first contact mail for more than 24 hours, could this be what you are reffering too.....the member will still show up on same search even tho you contacted her (if she hasnt had a first contact mail in over 24 hours that is)
2) a proper "i have not contacted" still exists and is to be found via search /my city, you will be presented with a drop down box consisting of all users, who i have contacted, and those i have not contacted.
i tried it on my profile just now and seems to work fine, the only time this falls down is if a member who you have sent message too in past, deletes account and resumes with same name and pics.
good luck

Distance limit problem...
Posted:
8/20/2009 11:34:08 AM
hi, didnt you just ask this in another thread.
the ability to change distance is there on my profile, it says within not limit.
mail settings are for incoming mail
can you send a mail?.....yes you can, but not if they have same setting ie 75 miles.
can they send you a mail by return?.....yes they can, all mail settings are based on 1st contact mailings, you made first contact, so your setting dosent count.

in these fora there is forum for travel, when in there, type in europe or other various search words and see what you come up with.
alternatively you could start a thread off in there and see if you get a response.

theres normally a 15 min delay before system logs you off completely, but even after that, your profile will still appear in searches in the order when you and others were last logged in, which is normal.....but once the 15 mins has gone by you wont be online.
if after said 15 mins your profile appears to be online, try clearing out cookies, temp folders etc, that seems to solve most probs.

flag is waved after more than one and or a behaviour pattern....but no-one sure how many, apart from admin or those in the know...poss the three strike rule , i dunno
there is no member remedy to resolve apart from deleting your account and being a little more wary to whom you send a message.....even if its just a complimentary message.

Updated Profile, but it didn't take
Posted:
8/13/2009 6:08:20 PM
or as i do....write out your profile in notepad or word, look at it, play around with it, when happy copy and paste into your pof profile....you may need to make some minor paragraph / sentence structure adjustments (what you see in notepad may not turn out the same way on your profile)
when happy click update profile, also you can then copy your nice new profile back into notepad and save....so if you tweak in the future, it should maintain the same structure that you were happy with last time.

Can you search by state or town?
Posted:
8/13/2009 5:48:41 PM
or you can try clicking on your home town / state.
first click on your own view me, then click on your city / town / state that you have listed, in your case lyndhurst and New jersey, both gave me a different return on each click, i reckon the main return was the fact that most had listed New Jersey, but then again New Jersey is about the size of England, so you will have to do some trawling through the search returns.
note....the problem with specifying a tight proximity (less than 5 miles) the system might default to a state wide search, it really all depends on how many members have signed up in your locale.
let me know if my suggestion works better for you than standard searching, so i can call upon it again if need be to assist others.
good luck

A Greek woman accused of setting fire to the genitals of a British tourist in Crete is due to appear in court.
The woman admitted assault after dousing the man's private parts in alcohol and igniting them, but says she did so after being sexually harassed. Police on the Greek island say the tourist was drunk and had waved his genitals at several girls before allegedly groping the suspect. The man suffered second degree burns and is recovering in a private clinic. The 26-year-old suspect handed herself over to police, claiming she had acted in self defence. She has won praise on Crete for what has been seen as defending her honour, the BBC's Malcolm Brabant said.
According to police the 23-year-old tourist was drunk when he dropped his trousers in a nightclub in the resort of Malia. The suspect, who has not been named, said she doused the man in Sambuca and torched him after she asked him to stop harassing her and he failed to stop. She will be questioned by an investigating magistrate in the city of Iraklion.
The case has been widely discussed on Greek television, and there has been precious little sympathy for the young Briton, said our correspondent. He added that many Greeks are sickened by British bad behaviour in Malia and other resorts. A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that in the early hours of Tuesday a 23-year-old British male national was assaulted in Crete.
"We understand he suffered burns on his chest and abdomen.
"He has been receiving consular assistance."

criteria

op you can search for interests, hobbies, pastimes, likes and dislikes via the interest section on your profile, you have some items in there but you need to place a comma between each one and not write it like sentence like what you have done.
eg....horseriding, bowling, skiing, walking, hiking, ferret racing, bog snorkling etc
there is no limit to how many items you can put in and you can list personal things like dreaming, people watching, bird song, music, songs, artists, etc
the more you put in the more people will understand and can relate to you, also good conversation starters.
you will know if you have done it correctly as they will appear in blue....which will make them searchable, anything not in blue is not searchable, but you can still list it if you wish.
good luck

Doe your job affect your health?

judging by previous posts i reckon im quite lucky in my job, (domestic electricity meter installer) although it does posses its own inherent dangers, we do our own on site risk assesment and follow our company safety guidelines, we have as a company decreased our at work accident record.
there is no rush to do any job, nobody looking over your shoulder, if at end of day we have jobs left...we have jobs left and pass them back.
not had any major colds or flu to speak of for last 2 years for this job...no office work.
previous 2 years was driving trams in nottingham....again no major colds or flu as we lock ourselves in air conditioned cabs, away from the great unwashed.
prior to that worked in factory....2 or 3 colds a year.
also catering and hospitality for many years.....folk regularly off sick with colds, flu, burns, slips, trips, falls, hangovers or just plain drunk and disorderly.

no moggie or pets in my life.....but there is a pu$$y in my life that gets fed 100% prime organic sausage.
words such as premium, gourmet, prime, supreme etc have no legality in the world of food labeling...the only thing you can hold em against is if they say a certain percentage on front...ie 100% fish....but the tin contains 50% veg, 25% hedgehog.
ever found yourself licking your lips at pet food ads...as that prime, juicy meat in a rich, thick tasty gravy is slowly eased out of the tin.....then i go look at my meaty stodge and think.....summat not quite right somewhere

Analysis Paralysis
Posted:
7/28/2009 1:53:00 PM
i to am guilty of over analysing things, on one hand its to do job right on the other its a safety mechanism for me or for someone else.
in all my contacts and chats i have been open and honest from the start so i dont believe i have given anyone the need to dig deeper or over analyze, that said i also find that women have generally been the ones who hold their cards closer to their chests for an awfull long time.
a technique i use/used was 5 questions....in early contact i ask you to give me 5 questions....anything you like, i answer....then i ask either the same 5 or something different, we discuss, debate.....a nice little icebreaker i found, and it saves time.....sometimes easier to get heavy stuff out of way, then paves the way for more lighthearted banter later.

Suggestion - Search Options and Cannot Message
Posted:
7/28/2009 1:22:45 PM
i think i know what you are saying and what you are asking for, but i feel that the returning search result would be pretty limited.
members particularly female get lots more mail than you or i, so in order to cut down on some the trash mail they employ certain settings.
yours is set for dating, so those that have must not be looking for dating, you will be unable to message.......but yet you dont want these turning up in your search, is that my understanding....your basic matches search is the one that best matches your profile settings...all other searches return (all) profiles within age and distances preferences.
just about everybody is or will be looking for a date regardless of what is in their profile settings.
you could try changing your looking for status and see what results are returned.
Another would be having the results adjusted depending on your settings. Such as, if your account is set to "Intimate Encounter" anyone who has "Must not be looking for Intimate Encounter" will not appear in the search results.
as for this, if you had IE as your setting, then yours matches result would return all profiles with IE as looking for......its highly unlikely that they would have must not be looking for intimate encounter as a mail setting....unless they of course blonde.

Suggestion

hi op, in your profile setup......found by clicking edit, you will find 2 boxes, one is for dating or contact preference, the other for your marital status, you presently have selected widowed, but you have a few choices including......not single/not looking.
so you could select for example
talk/email or friends
and not single/not looking.
and just incase no-one spots those you can always re-edit your profile text to reflect what your present requirements are.
what ever changes you make, ensure that you click profile update underneath your first date suggestion box.

OP, just a thought i notice that your city is not highlighted in blue, it might be an idea to select a town / city that the system recognises, therefore enhancing your chances of being viewed.
try clearing out cookies and temp folders on your pc......in a lot of cases that seems to be a remedy
i also agree with an above poster all newbies get a flurry of viewings first 2/3 weeks then dies off

*PIXS* - How can you change the order your pics are in?
Posted:
7/26/2009 11:47:40 AM
i had a little play with mine and my findings are....
the order are displayed from (in new image browser) top left to right and follows down each row, left to right.
however you can make a slight change to the order depending what you choose as main pic...ie you have 6 pics, you choose say pic 5 as main pic then pics 6, 1, 2, 3, 4 will follow.
if you choose pic no 2 as main pic then no 3, 4, 5, 6, 1 would be the order.
to work out which ones you want were, name your pics in comments....pic 1, pic 2 etc, save changes, then choose which one you want as main pic and see if you like the order.
the only other way i can think of is too delete all present pics, then upload in the order you want them to appear.

click [my matches]

scroll to near bottom of profile
you will find statement [ remove xyz from your matches]
click this and you will no longer see that profile in your [matches] search, they will however still appear in all other search patterns, ie my city, whos online etc.

Recycling - supermarkets and free carrier bags
Posted:

i invested in some folding plastic boxes which i use for my food / grocery shopping, ok there maybe some argument about the amount of plastic used in those as opposed to a plastic (bio-degradable bag).
but i find them extremely usefull for organising my shopping, at till end i can put tins in one box, frozen in another, household etc, etc....i can stack boxes in my trolley, load up car in less then 30 secs (square boxes fit nicely in a square boot) quickly unload car at home (very handy when raining) and unload shopping in organised manner.

if you dont have access to a pc, how did you get a myspace account, or even a pof account?
some ideas for you...
a) with whatever you are using, copy and paste your myspace pics to a folder, using the pof image browser you can then upload your pics to pof.
b) you could type in url to your myspace page, but generally frowned upon having outside links on your pof profile.
c) other alternative is to mention it in your profile that you will provide the information via emails.
d) get a pc or use internet cafe

also did you know that if you click on any of your interests, it will then give you a list of profiles with that interest in it....could be handy if you have a particular specific interest, like horse riding, skiing, painting etc......rather than just cuddles, walks.
you can add as many diverse interests as you want, but only interests that show up in blue are searchable.
good luck

Should PoF Deleting Old Accounts

this is a pof site statement written by marcus.....
How many people use PlentyofFish?
Every day we have 250,000 to 320,000 PlentyofFish users login. Other dating sites talk about having millions of registered users. Yes, they may have millions of registrations, but 90% won’t answer an email because they left months ago. The only thing that counts is the number of active users a dating site has. PlentyofFish is extremely active.
this site (pof) probably has ten fold that of "registered" users but left months ago, however some do come back after a period to see if things have improved....then go into hibernation again!
it could be benificial to write to a profile which has not been active for a over a month, they got fed up with the quality of respondants, so have a go, wait a week or so to see if you get a reply, they might be on holidays....the only thing you lose if 5 mins of your time.

veiwed me.....have you checked your setting for letting others see that you have viewed in mail settings, you can see them, they can see you in normal profile searching, but might not / may not show up viewed me/you.
faves.....their profile could be hidden, so you not see in normal searches, they can fave you, but not really sure if you can see them, i think both have to be in faves, for hidden profiles to be seen by either member.
im sure others might be able to shed more light on it.....but check your mail settings anyway.

played the fish game.....eeeeek turns out im a hammerhead shark
As an extremely adapted predator, you use your oddly shaped head to increase your ability to find prey. Your eyes and nostrils are located on both ends of your hammer shaped head. Your vertebrae are especially designed for quick turns and maneuvering. Ranging in size from 3 feet to 20 feet long, you can weigh up to 1,000lbs. You feed on fish, crustaceans and especially enjoy eating rays. You prefer warm temperate and tropical water, and can be found swimming along coastlines and continental shelves in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans and the Mediterranean and Black Seas. You may even catch a tan while swimming in shallow waters. During the day you often swim in large schools, sometimes containing more than 100 fellow hammerheads, but prefer to hunt alone at night.
As true with most shark species, you are in danger of becoming extinct. Highly sought after, your fins are considered an expensive delicacy (used to make shark fin soup), your liver oil is often used to make vitamins, and your skin is use to make leather. While people are not legally permitted to catch you, you are often caught by longlines and driftnets, and rarely make it out alive.

Suggestion for deleting email.

hi OP, although your idea in principal sounds good, it's unlikely to happen for reasons eloquently put by cowboy.
however a no reply or read and delete may not be deliberate, we are now at holiday time and a lot of members will be away from pof for a few days or even 2 weeks, try another NICE message, explaining that you wrote before, but that you like her profile, interests etc....you be surprised the nice response you get back.
if someone has been away from pof for a few days their in box will have quite a few messages in it, poss a lot.....so most will get deleted after first few reads, due to possible content of the mail, so yours along with 50 or more others will get deleted without further thought.
so after a couple of weeks i will write back again (after rush has died down if member is new) and i have always gotten a response back, normally apologetic as well, stating that she deleted lots and sorry if mine was in there.....she may tell you there and then that its a non starter or the door may be left open.
good luck

the answer to your prob will be in here:

the statement you refer too is for messages that YOU previously sent which got accepted, but the profiler/member had or got their account deleted by themselves or by admin.....deleted by admin = no trace, deleted by themselves = message remains but the name of member does not show beside the message.

couple of things have changed it would appear.
to find women online, click online (top of page) scroll to bottom of page, make your choice:
woman online = whole site (uk/usa/canada)
my state = country
my city = your locale
i also noticed that the radio buttons for condensed view or standard have moved as well as page numbers, i found these after clicking on my city.
ADMIN.....leave swapping around the shelves and goods to the supermarkets, we like the site as it is.....all say AYE!

if you have typed the colour letters correctly you could have infringed a mailing filter, seek here for guidance.

if it is the colour of the typeface that is giving you trouble, this site may be of use to you and others.
