If you unplug the mouse, does the system boot? Sometimes USB stuff can be weird, especially if you get some random device.
The Vista discs all have the entire software on them, the difference is in your License Key. I think. It's been a while ;)

IMPORTANT --> Spyware - Popups, Homepage Changing

Er, gonna have to disagree here. Microsoft Antispyware no longer exists, period. It's Windows Defender now. Anything with the name MS AntiSpyware2009 is actually a virus (a variant of AntiVirus2009, Antivirus360, Antivirus1, etc etc ad infintum).
Spybot is fine, as is Ad-Aware, as is Defender. They all search in different ways, and find things the others don't.
BitDefender is an AV/AS tool, and just like AVG's free AV it only offers partial coverage. It's free, you don't get all the goodies.
SpywareBlaster is pure crap, and should be classified as Spyware all on it's own.
I manually remove things with my job, and it's a lot faster than running 4389573298457293 scans. But, you have to know what you're doing.
