I can't think of any. I don't know why POF took the FORUMS off the menu bar. It seems like a step in the wrong direction for people looking to meet people at events other than the random ones listed at the bottom of your INBOX.

As you might have noticed there are two threads for the same event. I posted the first and forgot to put the day so thought I could edit it...my bad! Hey! Maybe I can get more people to sign up with 2 threads going....
Anyway, I hope to see a bunch of the gang out on tuesday and , if you are new to this come on out to the back room at the Fiddle and introduce yourself. If nothing else you can have a bite to eat and anything under $10 is $7.75 if you have a drink, hard or soft.
See you Tuesday!

Last week was a small group but a fun group. We will see if some of our regulars that couldn't make it out last week are able to make it this Tuesday. It has been a crazy couple of months with some weeks with 5 to 10 people and then the next 15 to 20 show up, and it wasn't the weather.
Last Tuesday we saw one of our long time members show up after a lengthy hiatus. It was a pleasant surprise and we hope she comes out more often.
See everyone this coming Tuesday!

Hammertown Hoppers- Tuesday Jan. 12th, 2010- St. George Arms
Posted: 1/6/2010 5:28:36 PM
Ok girls and boys, time to venture south, not too far, just to Caledonia for this coming Tuesday's patio night.
We have been out there 3 times now, twice as summer patio nights and the last one as an indoor event. Everyone who has come out has enjoyed the food and the company.
It is not that far and easy to find as it is on Argyle Street which is just the continuation of Hwy 6 south out of Hamilton. From Burlington you jump on the 403 until you pass the linc cut-off. the next exit is the Hwy 6 bypass. Follow it til it ends then turn right onto highway 6. From there it is straight into Caledonia and across the bridge. When you see the Kentucky Fried Chicken on the left, turn right into the little plaza and, Voila, you are at the St. George Arms.
I hope to see a bunch of you out here in my town!

I hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year! Welcome to 2010!
Our post Christmas get-together was a little smaller than the week before but still an impressive turnout for the festive holidays.
We are planning to take our patio night out of town for one night, possibly on the 12th of January if I can set it up with the establishment owners but, with the holidays, I didn't have time to make the arrangements for the coming week. So, we will gather again at the Cat N Fiddle for our first patio night of the new year.
Come on out this Tuesday. I am looking forward to any New Years' Eve
anecdotes or morning after pains.
See you Tuesday!

Hammertown Hoppers- Tuesday December 1st- Cat n' Fiddle

A fun time was had by all at our last patio night. We had a very good turnout and there were still some stragglers there when I left at 9:30. One of our peeps flew all the way from the east coast just to be with us...lol! The fog on the hill did not seem to deter many people although our Birthday girl couldn't make it for a combination of uncontrollable circumstances including double flu shots! That alone would stop most people so we will just have to congratulate her this coming Tuesday.
We were also glad to see our country girl stay past 8 for a change. I thought it was our magnetic personality but it was in fact that her son was playing an away hockey game that she didn't have to attend.
I have heard from our globe trotting patio hopper and he says he will try to be back in Hamilton for this coming Tuesday if all goes well.
See you all on December 1st! Gee! December already?

Well folks, let's see how many people we can get to come out to the thriving metropolis of Caledonia. Everyone has enjoyed the food at the St. George Arms and the prices are reasonable. It is easy to find and parking is no problem at all. They have a website for you to peruse..... stgeorgearms.ca . It gives the menu and directions.
Perhaps some of the regulars can carpool to save travelling costs although it is only 15 km from Upper James and hwy 53 (aka Rymal Rd. aka Garner Road).
We will see you there on Tuesday!!

We had a nice turnout of about 20 to 25 people on Tuesday. I think everyone had a good time. If memory serves me correctly we had one newbie come out who had just recently moved to town. From the conversations I believe she was pleasantly surprised with our friendly get-together. I do hope I am right with that assumption.
We are also comtemplating holding an indoor patio night away from the Cat n Fiddle
in the near future just as a one night change of scenery. More information on where and when at next week's event. It will be posted on here as well in plenty of time.
Push that sign up button for next week's patio night. If your profile doesn't come up push the button again. It sometimes takes two or three tries.
See you next week. In the meantime have a fantastic Halloween!

Yes *BTown, it was a full house. We may have to get the owner of the Cat N Fiddle to get out the room stretcher to give us some more seating area. For a while there it was standing room only.
Thanks to all who came out. It is amazing who you can run into when you go to these events. I ran into a lovely lady I hadn't seen for over 2 years. It was nice to reconnect, and I know I am not the only one who has met old aquaintances at these events.
I hope to see everyone again next week.

We certainly had quite a turnout last night for our first winter get together with approximately 28 people showing up. Of the 8 that signed up, only 4 of them showed so we had 24 drop ins. Thaks to all of our regulars and to Hamilton Meet-up members for making this a huge succes. We definitely packed the back room. For a while I was wondering if the 9:30 group that books that room were going to find any seats..lol!
I have had a few people who have mentioned that they are having a hard time signing up on the thread. Just to clarify, sometimes the sign up procedure takes two or three attempts before it accepts you, so, if your picture doesn't come up, try again right away and it should post it.
Many thaks for the newbies who came out last night. Some of us regulars are still waiting for our drinks..lol...you had to be there for that one
I am looking forward to seeing you all out again next week!

Hammertown Hoppers - Tues Sept. 29th - A Better Place
Posted: 9/23/2009 8:44:14 AM
Well, I am sorry to say that the outdoor patio season is winding down after a cool but enjoyable summer of hopping around Hamilton and the surrounding area.
We are anticipating 2 more patio nights before hibernating for the fall and winter at our favorite indoor patio place, The Cat and Fiddle in mid October. We may intersperse this occasionally with other indoor venues just to break up the regime.
Our last two outdoor locations (or indoor if the weather fails us) are A Better Place this coming Tuesday (Sept. 29) and, hopefully The Thirsty Cactus in Dundas on October 6th.
Let's all get out and enjoy the last two outdoor events of the season, but don't forget your jackets as the sun is setting earlier and earlier.....Darn! where did the summer go???
See you at A BETTER PLACE!

Ah! They must have been mentioned in looney girl's post! How silly of me to have missed that. Would some of the first and cases of the second entice you to come down for a visit ( or is that 'up for a visit'? I never get that straight!

Hammertown Hoppers- Tues. Sept. 15- St. George Arms, Caledonia

Well, we had another large turnout at Rankins this past Tuesday, and a couple of newbies showed up....that's what we want. We also had a surprise guest from the past and it was a joy to have her come out and spend the evening with us. We also welcomed Angel Blossom back after weeks away... Sorry for your loss Darlin'.
The concensus of opninion on where to hold this coming week's patio night was that it should be the St. George Arms in Caledonia again. We had 15 people show up and everyone had a good time even though you couldn't get a good****ail because they didn't have any Vermouth.....sorry about that Ken! Perhaps a quick stop at the local LCBO just two doors away on your way in could rectify that situation...LOL!
Good weather or bad, it will be on as the restaraunt is large enough to entertain us outside or in, but let's keep our fingers crossed for outside weather. Let us also see if we can double the number this time...do I hear 30+ people. It is just a short trip, timewise out to Caledonia and it is straight out hwy 6 south...no turns until you get to the parking lot....20 minutes from Upper James and Rymal Road if you do the speed limit.
Sign up and bring your friends, neighbours, relatives and any hitchkickers you may run into!
See you on the 15th!!!

No, we haven't as a group but some have eaten out here in the sticks. I think Barb suggested we try one this way and this place has a nice large patio. Also it is on the way to Hewitts Dairy which doesn't close until 11 p.m. so it could be banana splits and sundaes after supper!!!

Leeanne- the easiest for you is to take the 403 up the Ancaster hill, past the link to the Hwy 6 cut-off. Follow hwy 6 until it ends and turn right onto, you guessed it, hwy 6. Follow it right through Caledonia over the bridge and past the traffic light. Once you've passed that, it is in a strip mall just opposite Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Another large crowd at Buddy's on the 18th. This coming Tuesday we are going to try another "surrounding areas" patio. Layna and Chris, the owners of the St. George Arms are looking forward welcoming us to their establishment. Hopefully we can overcome the lack of bus service by sharing rides.
The St. George Arms is near the south end of town so, if you are coming from Hamilton, once you cross the bridge it is about .7 km on your right in the strip mall just across from KFC. Coming from the south, it is on the left just after you pass the first traffic light.
