Smoking!
Posted:

Thank you Octo777
I realise the pain of losing your mum must still be very raw
I imagine you are probably angry too, because she didn't give up smoking until it was too late.
I am 51 and like your mum started smoking long before it was realised how much damage cigarette smoking could do to your health.
<div class="quote"> She was a heavy smoker all her life and she LOVED to smoke.
That was me!
<div class="quote"> When ever the topic of quitting ever came up she stated vehemently that she would never quit and that she didn't smoke simply because she was addicted but because she actually enjoyed it.
That was me!
<div class="quote"> early in the mornings hacking her guts up
That was me!
Unfortunately it doesn't matter what you say or how horrific the evidence is a smoker will defend the right to smoke and will not give up until they are ready to do so.
<div class='quote'>Or until they are diagnosed with a smoking related illness, even then some will still continue ...
pmsl Yeah and that too Posh

Smoking!
Posted:

At the end of the day this argument could just go on and on and on until the smokers all agree with the non smokers and throw our ciggies away.
Accept, it's not going to happen. If we choose to smoke - we will. If we choose to ignore the health warnings - we will. If WE choose to cut down or stop - we will. If we are told to stop smoking - we won't.
I remember giving the same answers to all the points non smokers gave until I was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, was told it will never get better but giving up smoking WILL extend the amount of years I have left.
I had to give up playing the tenor drum in a pipe band cause I got out of breath on marches, constantly had chest infections, had an operation cancelled countless times, still waiting on list, couldn't even rough n tumble with my grandsons. All because this lady loved her fags and thought it would never happen to her.
Well it did!!!!

Smoking!
Posted:

I have dated both and have to admit that if you are a smoker it is probably easier to date a smoker. I have been a smoker for almost 40yrs and I was married to a non smoker who used to tell me that it was like kissing an ash tray, never stopped him though!!
As a non smoker for all of 30 days I have to admit that the smell of cigarette smoke isn't very pleasant. My mate came to visit me last night and he had had a quick fag before he came into my house and the smell was incredibly strong and to be honest, pretty disgusting. When you do give up smoking you realise just how selfish and inconsiderate some smokers can be.
And before all the smokers shoot me down in flames I'm not one of these self righteous ex smokers I am just stating some of the observations I have made since I quit.
I remember being intensley defensive of my habit and it is extremely difficult to give up.
It's like losing your best friend. Nicotine is as addictive as heroin if not more so.
As a non smoker (hopefully for good this time) I don't think I would date a smoker, not just because of the smell but also because the temptation to just have a couple of puffs may just be too much.

On topic
Way back in the day before automatic washing machines an exam question at school asked us to name 2 types of washing machine.
For one of them I answered Amputator instead of Agitator. That was bad enough but the teacher thought it was hilarious and decided to share my answer with the rest of the class!

Dancing Strictly for poofs

Nothing beats a good old waltz or quickstep round the dance floor. I went to ballroom dancing lessons when I was younger (30 odd years younger) and would love to meet a man who knows a few dance steps, unfortunately the only man I know who can dance is my dad and he is definately not a poof!!

Rail Operator Passenger Fines
Posted:
9/18/2009 12:42:17 PM
Can't see how they expect us to understand their rules and regs on fares and rail travel when their employees don't even give you the correct information.
My 16yr old son started college this month and I telephoned the inquiry line to ask if there was a railcard or student discount available. I was asked the times he would be travelling and I was advised to purchased a railcard costing £26 per year and this would entitle him to 1/3 discount off his fares. Was also told a std day return would be just over £8. A std day return to college actually costs just over £11 and he attends 3 days pw so this would have been a substantial saving. When he went to purchase this railcard at the station he was told it could only be used for off peak travel which would be useless to him as he has to be there for 9am. The person at the ticket desk did not offer any alternative, just shrugged his shoulders. My son even asked a ticket collector on the train, he was absolutely useless as well.

Restless Legs Syndrome!!!
Posted:
9/16/2009 9:40:21 AM
I had restless leg syndrome in my early twenties, didn't thrash about the bed just couldn't find a comfortable position for my legs whether sitting on a chair or lying in bed. Was told by G.P that it was bad circulation and was given medication to improve the condition. Can't remember having any problems with restless legs in the last 20+ yrs so whatever he gave me at the time must have worked.

Church Stile Holiday Park, Lake District Camping Weekend Photos and Comments
Posted:

Sorry I have taken so long to post this but I came out in sympathy with Shelly as the left side of my face has been swollen since monday, had to have a tooth extracted last night!
Shaun and I had a brilliant weekend, my son has asked if he can go again next year.
The camping meet was a success for the second year in a row, hopefully there will be many more to come.
It was great to meet some new people and make more friends as well as meet up with the original campers again.
Pics look great, some more to add to my album.
Take care everyone.

Will send Laine photos from the night a.s.a.p.

Depends on the reason for the choice.
If I wanted a relationship with them it would have to be number 1
If I just wanted to satisfy my needs. then it would have to be choice 2

Obviously you never have as much time to spend with friends at the start of a new relationship.
My real friends are willing to accept me for what I am and accept that we all have minor lapses whether it be in keeping contact,or making allowances cause your mate has a new partner knowing that the honeymoon period won't last long.
I also know my real friends are there if I need them and I am there if they need me.

Smoke Alarms and Carbon Monoxide testers
Posted:
10/27/2006 8:07:52 PM
I have 2 smoke alarms, they are connected to the mains power supply both have been replaced in the last week.
I have a carbon monoxide detector that is replaced when necessary by the housing associations.
Smoke detectors are definately something that everyone should have in their homes.
I had dozed off on the settee one morning, I had worked night shift the previous evening.
I was awakened by the smoke alarm, and when I opened the living room door I could smell and see smoke coming from the kitchen.
My heart was pounding and when I looked into the kitchen there was my son, who was around 3yrs old, standing on his chair in front of the microwave and there was charcoaled, flaming bread in the toaster.!!!
That was bad enough but
The little darling had decided to make himself scrambled egg and toast.
Inside the microwave was a bowl containing milk, butter and six whole eggs!!
I dread to think what kind of explosian the eggs would have created if he had figured out how to switch it on.

I can get into mischief and blame it on getting old lol
Just giving you all plenty notice

Well there was my teens, then my 20's, that was the 70's so who didn't , in my 30 I partied when I could find babysitters, in my forties I had to celebrate getting divorced, This year I blame Miss BBW for having such great meets and probably next year too.
That brings me up to 50

Obviously you didn't read her profile as her pic and a lot more from the uk forums are to raise awareness of breast cancer and to support the tickled pink campaign.
Also some of the usa members have now shown their support by putting up similar pics.
There is a thread dedicated to this on the uk forums
http://forums.plentyoffish.com/datingPosts5648654.aspx
Ot I can't believe anyone would think this was a good idea even if it wasn't their own.
And as for being miffed that no one agrees with her just shows how immature her train of thought is.

5. Paul Weller (the mod father)
Pmsl jack matser
I agree he was the Father of the mods and now one of the masters of music spanning 40yrs. Love him
1. Laine for organising the some of the most oustanding nights out I have had for a long time and for providing weary travellers a bed. The Hostess with the Most-ess.
2. Willow, who is as witty in person as she is online, she can go to Biatch in under 3 seconds cause she's so quick with with her wise remarks.
3. Punani, Jack Matser,Missy H and the one and only hitman Hams, you all have my son thinking I'm mad when I'm laughing outloud at my monitor.
4. Willow for keeping the forums turning over by creating so many wide and varied threads.
Vin, GentlemanX, oxxx, GG, Fernilee and kez~angel for their informative, interesting and at times heated discussions.
5. Has to be Pandy as I have found her to be extremely approachable and she is also lenient re: parole on my suspension. lol.

Bullying
Posted:
10/19/2006 12:43:08 PM
My son had a problem with a bully at primary school, I tried approaching the school but was told that because he was being bullied outwith the school grounds it was nothing to do with them and I should contact the police.
I duly contacted the police who visited the bullies parents but the bullying continued.
I decided to confront the bully and basically told him that if he touched my son again I would beat the shit out of him. Told him that I would have him when there were no witnesses and he wouldn't know when or where but It would definately happen.
I also pointed out the fact that I would deny everything and that I was more likely to be believed than he was as he was always getting into trouble.
Result..................My son was never bullied again and the bully told everyone not to mess with my son as his mum was mental!!!!

Can't wait to see the pics from nightclub, should be interesting!!
Was great to see old friends again and to make some new ones. Will definately be back in December.
Thanks Laine for another extremely enjoyable weekend, and to your mum for putting us up or should that be "putting up with us" lol.
Love you loads Laine.
