Guys - Top 5 Date Don’ts

It's not creative venting - I'm asking for feedback ! I'm staring to wonder if other guys think this is kosher, and also curious to hear if any other ladies have had stuff like this happen. I've been out of the dating field for a while - and am starting to wonder if things have changed, I know chivalry is dead, but is this now standard behaviour?

First date etiquette: Should men pay?
Posted:

Agreed - if I want it clear that I am NOT into the guy, I pay so there are no false expectations or sense of entitlement.
Also, if I'm asked to pick the pub or restaurant, I choose somewhere unpretentious and wallet-friendly, so as not to put undue financial pressure on the dude :)
Last but not least, for a first date, I like something that costs little or nothing - a walk on the trail with my dog, a 6-pack on the beach, etc.

Guys - Top 5 Date Don’ts

Following a train-wreck of a 2nd date (first one was great) here's a quick one for the guys:
Don't.......
1. Forget that she is on the date too, and consider her feelings/interest when planning where to go.
2. Take her to a nightclub (too crowded, noisy etc, unless you want her to get hit on by other guys).
3. Name drop, employ a sense of entitlement or talk incessantly about materialistic things/money
4. Be rude to the staff, even if they forget your order or the service is not up to par – no matter what you will come off looking like a jerk
5. Leave her alone for an indefinite period of time while you “work the room” – really, do I need to elaborate on this one?
Ladies - any others? Guys - have any of you pulled this shit? I mean, really!

Wow – you nailed the height thing on the head for me! Awesome to find someone else who’s witnessed this level of deception. Seriously - if I read 5’10 I call bullshit and have been proven correct time and time again. WTF is it with these guys? Do they think we won’t notice? What bugs me more than anything is the need to lie about it. Why lie? It’s not getting you a second date – at least not with me!

Should a band change their name if...
Posted:

Yep - absolutely!
As an AIC fan (and a huge Layne Staley fan) it seems like sacrilige to hear William DuVall fronting AIC witht eh band name kept the same. Call it what you want, but please, not Alice In Chains! The name itself was drived from Layne's one Glam Band, Alice N. Chains, and he gifted Jerry and the guys with the name, after a slight change.
Just my opinion - oh and don't even get me started on INXS and their reality TV stint :P

Sex as one of your interests?

I usually assume the person's not been getting any for a good long time, or the dude is just out to show off, not realizing that it comes off a bit man-whoreish!
I saw a profile the other day where the guy went as far as putting a blurb in his "About Me" section that said something like "I'd certainly be energetic in the bedroom". Well of course you would ya freak - it's probably your first time :P

Profile Phrases or Key Words That Make You Cautious

Re: the one night stand bit - sorry but I DO have that on mine, as I am tired of guys trying to hit me up for a quick screw, BEFORE we've even met in person. So long as those pigs are on here (and always in "dating", not "intimate encounters" where they should be) it stays in my profile!

so, why are you still single?

Agreed!!!! Although I am the only sibling (out of 4) in my family who is unmarried, I am also the only one who's not divorced! Note that my parents never ask me why I am still single :)

I still get asked, and I do resent the use of the word "still." Just last week I was asked, "so why is a beautiful lady like you still single", as if being attractive was a sure fire way to guarantee meeting someone compatible, when all it does is just attract the wrong kind of attention :P
