Hi; I found out at the Toronto Pagan Conference that there is a new group that might be able to help you. There is a druming circle just started at Soundwave Studio. It is located at 262 Progress Ave. North east corner of Midland and Progress. I tried to email you but it won't let me for some reason... anyhow SEKKHU if you want the organiser'd contact info send me an email via here and I will reply to you with her contact info.

from tim4925 "As reasonable as your claims sound PaganGoddess77 I have a hard time believing that we have any states which permit female nipples or genitals of any kind to be exposed in public places. There may be a few nude parks around the country but not that many."
I guess you would be completely surprised then. In the US and Canada there are many such locations google AANR (American Association for Nude Recreation) or FCN (Federation of Canadian Nudists) at either site you will find listing for a hugh number of "officially recognised" or "landed" clubs. In addition they have info and links to further info and resources.

MM
check Witchvox as previously mentioned.
There are several Yahoo groups as well some general some are path specific.
groupsDOTyahooDOTcom/group/Ontario_Wicca is a general group but a good place to start.
If you are looking for groups in the GTA go to torontopaganconferenceDOTcom their forums list some. They also run pubmoots to bring the community together. One of the organisers of the pubmoots or the conference can provide you with links to moots and or groups local to you.

What is it about Wiccans?
Posted:
2/21/2007 8:26:25 AM
"I don't care what they do... I just wondered why they all seemed to choose Wicca...
and how 'the rest' of the Wiccans felt about it..."
Ok 2 cents worth here.
First there are probably a number of reasons for your observation of this. Lets look at a few.
1) Of the groups you mentioned how many are comfortable in the religon of their parents? Many "main-stream" religons state that sex outside of marriage and so on is not "approved" let alone outside of a hetrosexual relationship. Wicca tends to accept all sexual orientations. Is is only one example but most western religons do have a set dogma on a variety of topics that they want and expect their practionishers to follow. One only needs to look at the decline of Roman Catholicism to see the effects of such a policy that doesn't keep up with society.
2) In pretty much most villages, towns and cities in North America and Europe you will easily find a "bricks and mortar" place of worship and easily identifiable person(s) for those seeking religous explanation and so on to go to. Not so with Wicca specifically and Paganism in general. Thus those seeking this have to resort to the following:
a) books: Go into most book shops today and you will find an assorment of Wicca 101 books some good some bad. While some have become usefull classics, the publishing houses seeing a marketing opportunity in some cases have churned out so much dross it is unbelievable. For the most part these have been predominately protrayed as books on Wicca and or Witchcraft not Druidism, Norse etc. But if this is all that is available (ie no identifiable group or "leader" to talk to then it becomes followed.
b) the web: Gods love CERN LOL todays MTV society wants instant gratification and validation. " I believe this .... and on the web I found this to back it up so it must be real..." happens alot. While there are some good sites there are more not so good ones.
c) Continued misrepresentation via the media, hollywood etc.... self evident.
3) Fear and siloism. Most Wiccan and Pagan groups struggle with what to do about youth. By this I mean do we teach them our traditions, beliefs and values? Most will not touch a young person until they reach the "age of majority" out of fear of reprisal (just look at all the family law cases where parents have lost custody). Thus the young person has to resort to the options in 2 above. As a result those that come to Wicca or Paganism in their late teens or later have already established their thoughts based on what they found in point 2. Another aspect is the siloism that reigns in Wiccan and Pagan groups in a lot of cases. "our Path is right" "don't assiciate with them as they cast circles wrong" "They celebrate Samhain different and so it must be wrong." WitchWars do happen and so many groups isolate themselves again leading to point 2.
So if you are seeing a number of people calling themselves wiccan and having other beliefs mixed in as well such as you described, maybe it is the above reasons.

Boline help please
Posted:
1/26/2007 2:27:00 PM
Thanks for the suggestions folks. It is sort of a personal challenge more than anything. Bucklands "bluebook" gives details on an athame but not a boline. I know some just make an athame into a boline by substituting in a white handle. Others carry it to the next step and use non-ferrous metal such as copper. I do have the copper sheeting to try this but was just looking for the sizing. IE Bucklands book and several others do give dimensions for straight blades but not the curved. As far as the lesser key of solomon I know it is not a tool normally found in ceremonial or high magic and is more of a "comfort tool" There is nothing on it in Regardie's, Kraig's or Knight's books that I have found ... yet
Thanks I will have a look at the sights mentioned in the posts.
hehe molten brass.......in 2006 I managed to get to volumn 6 in my chart at emerg (I inspired tim the toolman!) and he wants me to play with molten brass LOL just kidding I am familiar with the lost wax techniques... use it to craft silver and gold settings.

Boline help please
Posted:

I really enjoy making my own tools, attempting to grow my own garden etc. For some reason I would like to try making a Boline but have had no luck on finding any info on the web or in the books i have here. Most info has been on how to make an athame. The type I want to make has the crescent shaped blade but I am wondering if anyone here might have a link or know of anything that has been published that has the measurements and so on? The only thing I have found on-line are store locations wanting to sell completed ones. Or instructions on straight blade versions.
Thanks in advance

Wiccans and dating...
Posted:
1/25/2007 9:00:32 PM
I am very honest and open about my beliefs. My POF profile states I am Wiccan and not wanting to be "saved" or converted. I don't wear austentatious Pagan Bling (LOL that is the second time in one day I came across that the first time today was on a pagan podcast site from Ontario). While I have not always been Wiccan or Pagan I have found that eventually religon does come up. If you are looking for a serious long-term committment anyway. Talk eventualy will lead to worldviews, religon and if a potential partner has been found then it most likely will have to be discussed. In my experience some folks can work it out and others can't. So I am up front if it looks like it has the potential to go beyond just coffee dating. I have gotten mixed responses from both POF messages and in face to face meetings. Datingwise for me it hasn't really worked well outside of Pagan/Wiccan circles. As much as I cared for the person I was not going to convert and did not want them to.

Posting this for the organiser... Every Friday night in Chatham at 9 pm there is a POF coffee meet at the William Street Cafe (corner of William and King Streets). We hide in the side room with the fireplace and usually grab the long table at the side. Come on out and make new friends, re-new old acquaintences and have some giggles in a comfy environment where you can actually talk and be heard! And yes there is even a fireplace! Good coffe, good food and good company (especially V) GOTCHYA!

Anyone celebrate winter solstice?
Posted:
12/25/2006 2:21:15 PM
Wow someone from London just messaged me the link to this thread.... Glad to find some "local" like minded souls. Winter Solstice is always fun for me and my daughter. She was brought up to respect differing cultures and religons by living with me as I worked around the world. She is now chosing her own path and is leaning towards wicca/paganism like me. I always tried to celebrate both Yule and Christmas as I do come from a Christian family but found Wicca many years ago. Oddly enough, growing up in Nova Scotia and Cape Breton, many of the traditions now linked with Yule in modern Wicca were practiced back home. Growing up we always had a Yule log - usually birch-. The house was decorated with real holly and mistletoe. the hearth was restarted that night with the Yule log. We also exchanged seed packets - today a popular Wiccan tradition. And burned a list of what we wanted to work on or imporve/stop doing over the coming year --- sort of like new year's resolutions. It was also a time to cleanse the house (salt water) and sweep all the negativity out the door. (hehe then my sister and I would put on old thick wool socks put a fresh coat of hardwood wax on the floors and skate up and down in our socks to buff the wax...
Traditions are what you make of them. Like symbols they are given power by people. Alone, meaningless, but with enough people....
Brightest Blessings to all,

My daughter and I usually exchange Yule presents then go to a local open circle. We weren't able to this year with her away at school but we Video conferenced while exchanging gifts (we had exchnged them earlier and then went on line and opened them on the 21st)

What are your thoughts on Wicca? I am very interested in it.
Posted:
11/12/2006 11:02:39 PM
Very interesting thread. First yes I am Wiccan and have been for a long time. I have studied formally and informally Wicca, Witchcraft and Paganism and even taken University courses in them. I am a fully ordained Wiccan Priest. And since we live in a "credentialed" society hung up on what parchements are on the wall I hold degrees in Arts, Science, Linguistics, Education at Bach, Masters, and PhD levels so I am not just off the street, so to say.
Please take what you will from this but I did feel a need to add my 2 cents worth.
1) Wicca IS NOT old. Wicca as practiced today came from Gerald Gardner. Gardner came across a group (most likely Rosicrucian) whom he was convinced were witches (the so called New Forest Coven). Whether or not they were or not we will never really know. What is important is that he was so enthusiastic about what they believed in he took it to heart and developed Wicca (with the help of others such as Doreen Valliente). After the Repeal of the Witch Laws in Britian in 1950's it became possible for materials to be published and made more public and hense Wicca started to get around. Some practicioners, authors etc claim a Wicca heritage going back to great great grandfolks, well as you can see timewise that really isn't possible. This is not to say however that there were no other forms of Paganism, or witchcraft before Gardner there were. In some cases modernday Wiccans may indeed have a family tie back to midwifes, healers etc.
2) Witchcraft has had a bad reputaion thrown at it by both Church and State. In most cases the reason was so that dominance could be gained of the local population. The so-called "Burning Times" while a historical fact in so far as many persons were tried for heresy under the Inquisition, did not see many "witches" burned. Most of the accused were persons who had the misfortune of being blamed by someone for their misfortune. If the crops failed...blame the neighbour and call them a Witch. If the midwife delivered a stillborn then she was a Witch. If you wanted the neighbours land - find a way to add them to the Inquisition and so on. Yes a great many people perished needlessly under false accusations. Yes many "confessed" to witchcraft and or satanism, but so would most people being tortured under similar conditions just to end the torture.
3) Learn Wicca from many sources. Raymond Buckland is a respected Wiccan author, teacher and leader. One of is long standing requests to seekers of the path is to read, to read a lot. Then to take the time to digest what they have read and then ask questions. These days there are many Wicca 101 books on the market. Some good some pure rubbish. There are also some good websites, podcasts and print magazines. as well as some bad. The information is out there. My only caution is to use your mind in what you read as some is not accurate at all but only there to make a buck. (qu'elle surprise! LOL)
4) While I am well read in this area I am still learning and will probably continue to do so untill I cross over. However if you are interested in carryng this convo on off thread please feel free to contact me.

Best advice I can give is to actually go to EB Games or Blockbuster and see what games they have for each system. While there rent a system and a couple of compatible games designed for that system ,for a few days then rent the other one and a couple of games to go with it. This way you can try both out and see which one you like best. EB games does carry refurbished ones with warranties BTW as you indicated that a used system was not out of the question.

Now, men can go without a shirt in public -- but not women. Still, most women wouldn't do that -- because they need a bra or thier tits swing after 21.
Ok Here in Ontario both men and women are permitted by law to go topless in public - I guess thats what makes us different from Americans - you can only "bare arms" LOL

Hmmmm what would i ask Diety,
1) how do they get the caramilk into the Caramilk bar?
2) What are the 12 secret herbs and spices?
3) and oh yeah why mosquitoes?
Seriously I would ask if Diety was happy with how things have turned out, knowing that as has been mentioned Diety could probably be in the past present and future simultaneously. (interesting to note that while that has been a "pagan" sort of concept for some time, Quantum Physists are now getting around to providing proofe and theories that this might actually be a reality! Go figure....

For those that don't understand or are guided by Hollywood, Wicca and Satanism ARE NOT the same thing. After a few "you will burn in Hell" emails from profile readers, let me set the record straight.
1) Satan is a Christian concept. - Enjoy
2) Hell is also a Christian concept. - Enjoy
3) Wiccans ARE NOT Satinists
4) Wicca is a recognised religon in Canada and the USA just like many other faiths are as well.
I placed on my profile that I am looking to meet other Pagan/Wiccan or at least Pagan/Wiccan friendly people just as others have placed that they are looking for Christian etc. That is my choice. I respect yours please respect mine.
Finally if you have to ask what Wicca is.....just do a quick google. Yes I am willing to talk to those of other faiths, I have friends from many different world faiths and do not want to limit myself necessarily, but I am interested in making new Pagan/Wiccan friends to talk about related areas of interest such as festivals, enviromentalism, natural healing arts etc which tend to be fav. topics of discussion in such circles.

Here is the clothing optional beach info:
LAKE ERIE: PORT BURWELL PROVINCIAL PARK
(This used to be called Iroquois Beach.)
The Park offers camping as well as day-use facilities.
The sandy beach extends for some three kilometres. The popular, accessible, crowded spot is on the east end near the breakwater. If you walk westwards, traffic diminishes rapidly. The beach is very wide so that there is room for keeping out of the way and for ball games.
Beyond the western boundary of the park the beach is on private land and thus not subject to park rules. Nude bathing there is tolerated as long as there is no indication of sexual activity.

Is There Any Serious People Out Here Looking To Find Mr./Mrs.Right???...Honestly!!!!!
Posted:
3/27/2006 6:30:12 PM
Yes I was looking for a long term relationship, and I know what I want to find in a life long partner (Notice the word partner). I am happy to say that I think we may have met and yes it was through here. While it is still a bit early we hit it off like a tonne of bricks, and have connected on so many levels its scary and exhilerating at the same time. But the main thing is we were both comfortable with who we are as persons and ready to make an effort at a relationship.
The best advice I can give and yes I do give this to others when asked for advice as a friend or as a clergy, is that in order to be in a relationship with anyone else you need to be in a healthy relationship with yourself first. If either are still looking for validation through the eyes of others, are not comfortable with who they are, and able to be honest and look into themselves and say this is who I am, then the relationship is doomed from the start regardless of the amount of physical attraction. At some point you stop falling in love and actually enter a point of being in love. If you don't like yourself you won't be able to offer love to someone else. IMHO

Hmmmmmm interesting to see how people are responding to this one. I grew up with English, French Acadian, Gaelic, and MicMac. In university I learned Russian, Arabic and Hebrew. Since then I picked up Farsi, Urdu, German, Italian and Spanish. My work involves working with multi-cultrual groups so I get to practise almost daily in one or more of these. It wasn't always that easy though and often resorted to watching cartoons or OMNI programs just to practice! I love languages but I also love the cultural aspects that go along with them. The foods, the thoughts, the ideas, the music. The skills helped as I have traveled, worked, lived and taught around the world...

LOL it takes 10 minutes to get from one side of town to the other, so 10 - 12.00 from one end of town. Luxury Hotel ---- 40.00 and is actually really nice. The Wheels is an indoor amusement Park and as it is march Break and the weekend will be really expensive as you have found out. Comfort Inn is on the same road as Twisters again about a 10.00 cab ride

Ok just my 2 cents worth here.
First I do not condone child porn.
Second the actor was charged with possessing not creating, not abuse, but possession. Perhaps a subtile difference but please do not forget this fact.
Third as "I want more" said in Canada we are innocent until proven quilty. This is one of our basic legal rights.
Fourth, as far as the kids in the pictures go, without a description of what was portrayed how can anyone say it was porn or abusive. While these do exist and given the quantity of pics I would suspect that some may fall into this category, but we really do not know the context under which the pics were taken. These days many persons have digital pics in profiles, personal web spaces etc. So how many do not have a "naked pic" of themselves as a kid, or thier own kids in the tub or something like that? And if you don't think that people do not surf for stuff like that and then repost them in "other" sites well that's just a head-in-the-sand mentality. As someone who spends volunteer time managing searches for missing people these are some of the things I have to consider during a search - what is the source, is it verifiable, is it real etc. I know before you start the flame throwers, all I am saying is that if we judge only on limited "facts" presented in the media then we as a society are no further along than those that cast their neighbours to the flames in Salem based on a few accounts of some hysterical children, or worse "grown-ups" with hidden agendas. At least let him have his day in court.
Something to ponder.

Hmmmmmm well the homind types sometimes do sometimes don't. Personally I do and yes they can be used for listening, holding on to etc. LOL.
Seriously I find there are many people out there who don't listen, either at work or elsewhere. They are wrapped up in themselves either because of high egos or even low self-esteem. I know you are wondering about the last part. While I find that sometimes those persons with low self-esteem are looking for validation and will ramble on .....
PS Norwich is not too far in the boonies LOL now Chochrane.......

As someone who grew up wearing a kilt etc in Nova Scotia. I personally don't consider it a "costume" at least in the theatrical sense. But with all the disagreement today about what can be worn or not worn I think we should all just go naked and then there would be no issues!!!!!! LOL

P.O.F FOAM PARTY @ TWISTERS NIGHT CLUB IN CHATHAM
Posted:

LOL How far is Chtham from......
OK First Ridgetoen is now technically pat of Chatham-Kent
From the Wellington Road (401) exit in London to Twisters takes about an hour and 20 minutes (If you drive the limit). To get to the club if you are coming from London, Kitchner ie anywhere East of Chatham...
1) Take the 401 west past London, Past Ridgetown, past Highgate, Kent bridge... you are looking for hwy 40 exit (exit 90 I think) The landmark is the HUGE Harley dealership on the south side of the 401/40 exit -- you can't miss it.
2) At the top of the ramp turn right and go north This is Communication road (hwy 40) for about 8 - 10 minutes.
3) You will see (eventually) a turning lane (left) with sign waying Cahtham downtown business district. (take this left turn)
4) You are now on Park ave. Follow this for about 3 - 4 minutes, but as soon as it deivide into four lanes get in the shoulder lane. On the right just past the Sunoco station you will see a TIm Horton's the intersection (with stop lights) about 100 feet from there is Queen Street. Turn Right on this.
5) Follow Queen street north but get in the left lane Once you are past the Via station on the left, you will only go a couple of block further north. There will be a lighted intersection with Automotion on the far left corner. This is Richmond street turn leftand stay in left hand lane.
6) On Richmond street follow it for about two blocks. Twisters is in the block after the first set of lights on the left hand side of the street. Across the road is a large self-storage place.
Hope this helps

Toys can be fun by yourself or with a partner. There is a cool show in Toronto each year called the Everything to do about Sex show.... latest products, clothes, toys, vacations etc. (live demos - to an extent LOL)
One of my personal favouties actually is a mini vibe that goes over my finger. It has variable speed control so while I am playing with a willing partner my tounge can do one thing and well use your imagination!
