Are mens lives complete with out a woman?
Posted: 11/8/2009 2:59:39 AM
Nah, i don't think men's lives are complete without a woman, but i do think many can feel let down and disappointed with the whole relationships/dating game and decide to divert their energy and attention elsewhere.

Who tends to get over the breakup first?
Posted: 8/20/2009 2:33:54 PM
Who ever had less invested.

I do agree with a lot of comment's on here because every break up that i've been through has been different, just the same as every relationship has been unique in it's own way, and none of them has followed a set pattern. I think this rings true the most.

Has Dating Become More Difficult?
Posted: 8/20/2009 6:34:50 AM
Trouble is Matt - I did meet my last one in the real world - eyes across a crowded pub etc but it's still a minefield. Perhaps we all just get a little tired of the game?

From my perspective, it just dosen't feel spontaneous or fun anymore, so i'd prefer a fresh perspective and try things a bit differently. Not that at times, it hasn't been fun, but i think its like most things in life, i can get boring if you keep doing the same things all the time. Besides, i miss good old fashioned social interactions

Has Dating Become More Difficult?
Posted: 8/19/2009 3:01:32 PM
I'm not sure whether it's harder, but it's definatley changed a lot. In terms of online dating, i've got the feeling that i've been there, done that and bought the T-Shirt....More through Facebook rather than POF.

I think i've become jaded with the whole online thing - facebook included. I'd definatley prefer to meet my next partner in the real world first rather than online.

Sexless marriages/relationships.....go figure?
Posted: 8/19/2009 6:03:22 AM

My theory is that one person or the other cuts off sex basically to instigate the other person to move on

That's my thinking too, or that maybe they've got somebody else lined up that they think might be a better catch.

Sexless marriages/relationships.....go figure?

I've never been married, but i have walked out of relationships where i strongly felt that the sex was deliberately being used or withheld as a bargaining tool, because it completely killed off any enthusiasm or passion that i had for the relationship.

Single women prefer married men! (It's true)
Posted: 8/16/2009 11:31:39 PM

I want a man of my own, not somebody's reject...why would we want a married man? They are usually overweight, dont know how to dress and under the thumb despite getting no sex...thats their problem not mine...what on earth is attractive about a married man?

I never ever go there...but have had men lie to me and subsequently found out they are attached/married...whats the point?

I've never been married, but i have heard that, the sex life can become unsatisfactory or non-existent after marriage. Is this quite common?

France and germany out of recession, why arnt we?
Posted: 8/16/2009 4:00:17 PM
I follow feveriam on youtube as he's usually quite perceptive (more than i am lol) about the global economy, and gives a good summary on financial news items. He mentioned on a post today that he thinks that the French and German upturn is going to be a temporary blip due to it being purely based on car manufacturing, and doesn't take into account that a lot of small businesses are closing. He also mentioned that we might be heading for another major downturn over the next few months.

I am a bit disappointed that it got deleted, we were having a good conversation on there, and although this thread has a similar subject, we were approaching it from a different angle so i don't find this thread so relevant to what we were discussing.

As for married/unavailable men being more attractive, I have noticed this can be true for me, but only until I know he's unavailable. I quickly distract myself elsewhere once I know.

Damn...i didn't think of that, people can appear attractive before you discover that they are in a relationship. Blows a hole in my theory.

i would say that msg 11 is probably spot on.

My two cents worth would be that the attraction is based on the desire to be in a relationship that makes the person seem more attractive rather than the person specifically.

Especially if the couple go well together, it appeals as a nice package and something that they would like to happen in their own life in terms of finding someone for a relationship.

On the flip site, women in relationships can often appear more sexy than single women for similar reasons.

George Michael - hellbent on destruction or just unable to help himself?
Posted: 8/15/2009 3:50:08 PM
I find it hard to understand how someone in his position of wealth can continue to appear to abuse his body in this way risking his life as he does so.

My perception would be that wealth doesn't equate to happiness. He might be financially well off, but if he has underlying mental health issues, having money isn't going to cure them, if anything, it might amplify them because he is in a financial position to indulge his vices.

France and germany out of recession, why arnt we?
Posted: 8/15/2009 3:28:14 PM
A few interesting points on "Quantitative easing" - there's a history of governments that try to bale out their economies by printing more money going into hyper inflation - there's a knife edge between getting it right in a Keynsian manner (accelerator and multiplier) and getting it wrong along the lines of the Weimar Republic and Zimbabwe.

Thank you. This would be what i would class as an 'intelligent' comment about quantitative easing.

If you only knew how hilariousthis statement is.
Quantitative easing was introduced TO promote inflation!!!!!!!
It has had limited success.

So where do you ger hyperinflation from?

Ummm, here:
http://www.youtube.com/user/jberni1#play/uploads/2/tVOaBWf4AmQ

I'd recommend watching all of jberni1's video's on youtube, they're quite insightful.

And Here:
http://dollardaze.org/blog/?post_id=00405

'These massive expansions to the US monetary base increase the probability of a complete collapse in the confidence of the value of the US dollar. This shift in sentiment would spark a hyperinflationary fate to the world's de facto reserve currency.'

The derivatives market in the USA is supposed to be in a worse state than the housing/credit market that went tits up last year. If this goes, America has little options other than to print vast amounts of money (again). Since we basically follow America's lead, if they go down, we go down with the sinking ship.

Adn no, I don't actually want your answer, if you didn't get the initial point of the excercise (in fact missed it by 180Deg) then I've little confidence an any answer you provide.

I find this incredibly arrogant on your part. If you know so much about the economy, then please, by all means, enlighten me. But don't dismiss me because my opinion differs to yours. I wish that somebody could enlighten me every day, it's a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, i don't think it's something that you are capable of.

so was mr brown wrong when he said our country was well prepared?

If you mean well prepared as in, declaring Iceland as terrorists and abusing UK anti-terrorism laws to kick Iceland in the balls so they went under instead of us....then...well yes - he was well prepared

how much blame do you blame him for the countries position?

100%, he deregulated investment banking and controls that were put in place after the 1930's crash. These regulations were implemented specifically to stop another great depression. America did this first, then Labour was stupid enough to think that doing what the Yanks did was a good idea.

Gordon Brown also sold off a vast amount of British gold at a time when it was valued quite low to fund 'the good times' that we've all enjoyed over the past 10-12 years.

when do you think we will be out of recession?

We'll be lucky if we (and the USA) don't end up with hyperinflation with all the money we've been printing

Go read this blog, if you want an idea of what a country is like after it's economy has collapsed: http://ferfal.blogspot.com/

if we had followed the tories idea would we of been better of, rather then throw money at everything?

I have no idea. But Gordon Brown wasn't fooling anyone when he was running around trying to paint himself up as the savior of the economic collapse.

but two people captured me immediately just by the way they used words and their humor. A great sense of humor will catch most anyone's attention, don't you think?

It's great when that happens, and i think those people really shine through, more often than not, the messages from other users just seem flat and 2 dimensional - and i'm probably just as guilty of this as anyone else on this site.

I think that's why i enjoy posting on the forums here much more than the dating side of the site, because you can get more of a feel for the other peoples personalities by how they interact with other forum users, it's much more insightful and entertaining than most of the messages that i've received in many cases.

I think a lot of people do suffer from the 'kid in the sweetshop' syndrome when it comes to online dating. I think that i mentioned on another thread that too much choice can be just as stifling as too little and if you're running around trying to sample all the sweets in the shop then you're basically not spending enough time building up a connection with someone who might be a good suitor for a relationship.

Most people make decisions based on an emotion and that can also be lacking when you look at a profile which lists likes and dislikes - it dosen't get to the essence of what attraction is or the chemistry that draws two people together. It's also really hard to guage whether there is a real chemistry until both of you have met up, so it's important to keep an open mind until then.

Tbh, meeting up really does separate the wheat from the chaf, because it takes little energy to sit at home typing away at a keyboard but if the other person is genuinely interested in a possible relationship, they would be more than happy to make the time and effort to meet with you for a coffee or something.

I met my last girlfriend on Facebook, and we really clicked quite well on a humor level very early on, so she held my attention quite easily. The first time i saw a pic of her was on owned and she unconcious (drunk) on a table lol, i didn't even see her face, but the photo struck me as funny and made me want to know the story behind the picture - it caused an emotional reaction that made me want to know more about that person. Obviously, things didn't work out between us, but it was one of the rare occasions where everything just came together so effortlessly.

I don't really get much of it in the place where i work, but in the past, i have literally cringed often in places where it was used - to the extent that i wanted to hide under my desk and pretend that i didn't work with those people, especially if you could hear the slight hint desperation in their voices, as they prayed that the buzz word or phrase would catch on.

women hitting men
Posted: 8/9/2009 6:06:38 AM
I think it's not just directed at men, i think women have become more aggressive in general. There was a story about a year ago in The Guardian, and the police apparently are becoming more weary of dealing with drunken women than men nowadays, because some women think that they can get away with being physically aggressive, purely because they are women.

Personally, i don't agree with women being physically violent towards men, because men (assuming they are gentlemen), can't really defend themselves against the attack without being branded the wifebeater (even if it just involves physical restraining the other person).

is single sex better than married sex?
Posted: 8/9/2009 5:41:31 AM
Single sex is definatley better, neither party is looking at the long term implications, so it's easier to let go and be a bit less inhibited about things, the drawback being that the dry spells that can occur when you're single, but then again, when you're in a long term relationship the same can happen.

I think i have a mild form of OCD, and it mostly occurs with locks, but it dosen't happen all the time, i seem to go through phases with it.

The last bout lasted about 4 months and i couldn't leave my jeep without locking it twice, if i forgot and walked away from it, i'd have to go back and lock it the damn thing again. The stupid thing is that the central locking locks automatically after about 30 seconds of closing the door, but try telling my brain that!

Swine flu the biggest threat EVER
Posted: 8/7/2009 5:23:08 AM
The 2 reasons why i won't be taking a flu vaccine are:

1) It hasn't been properly tested
2) I believe that Swine Flu has been way over hyped by the media, and that it's no worse than any other flu.

Regardless of whether you believe in conspiracy theories or not, those 2 facts are undeniable. Let other people be guinea pigs if they want to, I'll take my chances with the flu thank you very much.

that would be one tough question to answer in an exam, there's no indication of how the person should answer it. Sounds more like a philosophical question or something.

why questions are about finding out a persons intent behind a certain action. That's about all i know.

Your job can adversely affect your health, i remember one job i did for 3 years which i hated and it caused me a considerable amount of stress. At one point i began to get shooting pains going up my left arm - which is an early warning sign for a heart attack. I was only in my early 20's. It was around then that i decided that it just wasn't worth the bother and went back to college.

The simplest solution is to uninstall Vista and go back to Windows XP.

Vista is a truly awful operating system. I've tried it a couple of times thinking that things would have got better with service packs and updates, but there were just way too many compatability issues with hardware & drivers that ran flawlessly on XP.

They are questioning her sexuality.
Posted: 8/3/2009 10:32:24 AM

Is she being discriminated though? if it had been a same sex lodger then because of her benefits situation she would be have been asked to prove the same.

I'm not so sure about whether she's being discriminated against, from what i've heard, people that work at the dole office are a bunch of jobsworths who assume everyone is lying to them. So it's probably down to the person who dealt with her case. If she put's a complaint in at a higher level she might get somewhere. It's not always that easy to tell someone's sexual orientation just by looking at them. I was at a party a couple of years ago and got chatting to a lesbian couple. For the life of me i couldn't tell whether they were just winding me up or whether they were just being honest about it.

Pauline's right. This thread has been done to death. "Read/Deleted" happens to men and women both. If she's interested, she'll reply. Not much more to say about it.

Pretty much sums it up.

Think about all the women's profiles that you've looked at but decided not to message for one reason or another and you'll come to realise that you've already automatically disqualified a certain percentage of women. When you then make the initial contact with someone, it's their turn to either respond or disqualify you. It all evens out in the grand scheme of things one way or another.

friends after being dumped?
Posted: 8/2/2009 2:28:55 AM
The whole friendship line can sound incredibly shallow post breakup as if the relationship never meant anything in the first place, it's on a par with FWB's. I don't mind the odd messages every now and again from a past lover once i've moved on with my life, but i'd always view them as an ex, which is a completely different category to a friendship. I guess i'm a firm believer in the idea that friends can't be lovers and lovers can't be friends.

Besides, i don't think i've ever had to ask someone who was a genuine friend to be friends with me, it's more of an unspoken agreement between two people. When somebody has to ask to be a friend, i start to question their motivations for doing so in the first place.

My father's been in a relationship with a Russian woman for about 5 years...he didn't meet her over the internet tho, she's been living in this country for some time and was working a professional job up until a couple of years ago which she left due to illness. One of the things that he really likes about her is that she's really easy going and laid back - his last girlfriend before her was a right bunny boiler, so i think it was a huge relief for him to meet someone normal

sometimes the conversation runs dead, it's nobody's fault sometimes, it's no different to starting a conversation with a random stranger in a pub, sometimes it just goes nowhere.

Plus if the other person takes a while to respond, it's easy to forget what you were talking about in the first place.

If they provided a nice looking "fluffer" it would be much easier

If they provided that 'service', they'd probably have no problems finding men willing to donate pmsl.

It would be interesting to hear how women would feel about being with a partner who'd previously donated sperm, and the possibility of an 18 year old turning up on their doorstep one day looking to discover who their father is.

illuminati?
Posted: 7/7/2009 10:00:27 AM

So I take it you were watching a completely different video than my link then?
It was suppose to be the one on illuminate not mutant teenage ninja leaders!

I don't know, pmsl....tbh, i didn't watch the video

My understanding of the conspiracy theory behind Illuminati, is that they want a One World Government, and a global currency system which they own and cream all the interest off. The federal Reserve in America is not owned by the government, but by a cartel of bankers who print money out of thin air and then profit from the interest repayments on loans. There's an audio book on youtube called 'the creature from jekyl island' that explains how the federal reserve was formed.

The problem with printing money is that it leads to inflation and once it goes over a certain threshold, it leads to hyperinflation, which is what's going to happen to the American Financial system. I read somewhere that the only way they can create a global currency system is to collapse all of the currencies at the same time, so basically everyone is screwed and has to adopt a new global currency (which some believe is happening right now). And throw in a few wars with countries that don't want to toe the line.

The whole reptilian thing is sort of heading into David Ike territory, whose belief system is along the same lines, but with shape shifting reptilians thrown in to boot.

Right....time to take my tin-foil hat off and make a cup of tea!
