Just 'tweaked' it a little more. Check it again, and if you see anything that's out of place, unsual, too negative, too lengthy, etc., just let me know!
Looking forward to your replies.

Does My Profile Say... 'LOOK but Don't Touch'??
Posted:

Alright...I know this has been said a thousand times before, but...
1. Find better pictures. Use a local photographer, if you have to.
2. For the written details - demonstrate, don't state. First off, one doesn't usually refer to him/herself as 'interesting', 'funny', etc. That's for others to decide. Plus, you'll end up sounding like the majority of the male population on this site. What makes you stand out is if you paint a picture in her mind of you being funny/interesting without actually stating it.
Otherwise, women will just look at your profile and move on.
Good luck!

I've just revamped my written profile (no, I haven't gotten round to the pictures yet), thanks to some tips I picked up from other sources. It's still a work in progress, so I want your honest opinion.
Fire away, folks!

What is good to say an a email?

Well, it's been awhile since I was last here.
Anyway, I've been here for about a month and I'm also suffering the same 'fate' of not getting responses from those I sent decent messages to.
I won't reiterate the details again, but think of your photos, profile and emails as a way of advertising yourself...remember that us guys face a lot of competition out there, so you should put way more effort into making yourself stand out from the crowd.
Even then, just like we have different ideas of what we look for in a woman, some goes for them. Everyone has different preferences and you simply may not be her 'type'.
Alright. Time for a break...I'm off to take some new photos to add to my profile.
In the meantime, hang in there!

Hmm...that may take a while, but we'll see how that goes.
There's one more thing. I know this is pretty much a judgment call, but would it be better to select 'Long Term' rather than 'Dating' to let people know I'm serious? It's too bad I have to select just one, but I'm pretty much open to both personally.

Thanks for the suggestion. In fact I changed it from a simple list to something more descriptive. I hope I delivered a better impression this time around!
Looking forward to more of your comments!

Right, just edited my profile again and fleshed out the list into full sentences. As for the pics, I'll see what I can do to get some more quality shots.

Thanks for the feedback!
I'm just now re-reading the profile and edited the profile as you suggested. I'm sure everyone's got their own style of writing about themselves. I agree that the 'check list' is kind of vague and I should expand on it.
Overall, I have to view it like I'm writing a cover letter (or something like that), but not give too much away.
Once again, thanks for your suggestions and keep 'em coming. :)

Hey all.
I joined POF about a month ago and just recently started to work on my profile. I honestly still believe it's a 'work in progress', so if you have any constructive criticism feel free to post away.
As well, I've sent several messages but no responses so far - there's one 'Unread', two 'Read/Deleted' and the rest were 'Read' when I checked my 'Sent messages' sections. Usually, I'm pretty mature in handling this and just move on. That said, I'd like to receive some in reply just so I know my profile is working.
I'm sure I'll get as many opinions/suggestions as there are users who'll post on this thread.
Thanks in advance, and I look forward to your replies!

Is it rude not to respond to an email???

Well said, dreamer_Paul! Sometimes even on here, some of us will always be overlooked. However, since I'm kinda new here I'll give POF a chance and see how it goes.

Well, I'm relatively new here, I'll give it a shot for a while.
Since I joined about a month ago, I did look at a few profiles and I've even sent 2 messages to a couple of ladies thus far. No replies as of yet. Last time I checked, one my sent messages was marked as 'read', the other 'unread'. I sometimes wonder how many messages I have to send out before I get a reply - sounds like a numbers game to me.
Just out of curiosity, how would the POF experience compare to some of the other 'paid' online dating sites (or even other free dating sites) out there when it comes sending messages to each other?

I've become pretty mature when it comes to that. On top of that, I do keep myself busy so I'm not exactly hinging on any replies - so it's not a big deal. Just gotta spend more time here.
Basically, if nothing happens, I just move on and find who's next.

All too true, I'm afraid.
Strange how most, if not all, people are polite in 'real life', but once they get in front of the computer and go online, who knows what bad habits they'll practice.

Good point, vainh.
I take it the women here more often than not get a TON of email replies, so they can be choosy (hmmm...sounds like many a company in lean times like now).
Anyway, I'll come back here every now and then and see how it goes.

Thanks for the reply.
I'll have to revisit my profile and see what I can do to make it stand out. Of course, I'll give it some time.
The 'Date Night' feature is apparently new to the site. I think it's where you see other users who have joined a list and are free for that particular Friday night for dating.
Signing up for it is free, although 'Serious Members' will show up first. I'd say, 'why not' and sign up...at the very least you might gain a new friend.
Oh, and another off-topic question, is there a way we can increase the number of keywords for the profile?
Thanks in advance!

First off, just thought I'd say hello to everyone in the POF community!
I'm kind of new here myself - and only recently just started to dive into the 'sea'. I've posted a couple of pics and wrote out what I figured would be a decent description of myself (without giving too much away) and things I would do on a first date. Maybe I need to make it more intriguing.
I've even emailed a couple of members - and I mean good, well-thought out messages and I also didn't get any responses thus far. of course, I could assume that maybe it wasn't what they're looking for. Still, they could've at least acknowledged my message even if I wasn't their 'type'.
Gotta keep trying and make my presence known, I guess. Just like a lot of things in life, it's a numbers game...and maybe I'll get a response sometime in the future.
By the way, I'm curios about the new 'Date Night' feature. Anyone about to give it a try?
