Something ALL women on pof should put in their profiles
Posted: 6/19/2009 6:58:55 AM
Ok, OP you stated that "I'm not running a ploy to get free meals. I'm happy to meet at a restaurant and pay for myself, if you still think you'd like to get to know me. is the way to go". Fine . Lets be fair here then shall we!. I'd like to see men write " I'm not running a ploy for sex here, I'm happy to take our time and get to know you. If interested please write".

does anyone get as turned off with a smoker as i do?
Posted: 6/19/2009 6:45:36 AM
The smell is nausiating. Even if one smokes occasionally the smell of the cigs emits from the nose as they breathe. A non smoker can smell cigs on someone quickly, at least I can. Not to mention the smell left on me from a smoker. Yes, it is a big turn off.

I'm not missing the point. I understand completely. But laws like this are also in place to protect the innocent. It is needed in my eyes.

Is the Seatbelt Law unconstitutional?
Posted: 6/14/2009 9:09:37 PM
I had a friend who was an EMT. He would get really annoyed at the mess he had to deal with because some idiot didn't have a seatbelt on. He actually got to the point that he didn't want to clean up the mess of an unseatbelted body. I've seen too many bodies that were thrown through the front windshields due to no seatbelt. Those are images that I wish I could erase. I'm glad it's a law.

I have to say no to this one. As someone stated aside from allergies, I don't appreciate when some dog comes up to me and jumps on my leg to say hello.

Posted: 3/26/2009 9:06:51 AM
He sounds like a total control freak. If that's the type of guy you want to date, fine. Also, I don't appreciate double dipping. My food stays on my utensils. If he wanted to try your meal he could have asked and you could have placed it in is plate via a new fork.

What have you learned from online dating ?
Posted: 3/22/2009 10:41:24 AM
In the beginning the online dating was fun. It was exciting. As time passed, it started to become too much work. The fun had vanished. I got tired of the whole thing. Now, I love the forums and if I meet anyone, it's out in real world.

What happened to sidewalks? Share the road?
Posted: 3/20/2009 9:43:53 AM
Well, here in New york a bike in not entitled to the full lane..."where on the road may a bicyclist drive?
• If there is usable bike lane, the bicyclist must use it. If there is no bike lane, or it is unusable due to parked cars or other hazards, the bicyclist may drive either on the right shoulder, or near the right edge or curb of the roadway. A bicyclist may move further left to avoid hazards such as parked cars or debris, but the bicycle driver must avoid undue interference with other traffic (Sec. 1234(a)).
• You should generally bicycle as far to the right as is practicable. If there is a safe shoulder, use it instead of the traffic lane. Smart cyclists plot a line straight down the roadway 3-4 feet from the curb or parked cars. This allows them space to avoid road hazards and to be more visible to motorists and pedestrians." I've ridden with other riders who think that they own the road. When I tell them to hug to the right, they don't belong in the middle of the road my friend would say."well let the cars watch out for me". That's the best way to get hit.

Where I live there are no sidewalks. Yet, the idiots that ride their bikes think they own the street, as do the roller skaters. I've seen people on bikes cut to the other side of the street without even looking behind them to see if there was traffic behind them. I just missed hitting a guy that way. He actually thought it was funny as I gave him the finger and hit my brakes. Some of those hit were flirting with disaster.

So, you live with your sister and kids you said " He has been pretty violent in the past I must admit but none this bad, he has never laid a hand on her until then, but had done physically abusive things to my nephew(Whom has a different dad)". Maybe I missed it, but have you called child services? If your sister wants to end up 6 feet under, that's her choice. The kids need intervention A.S.A.P. If you haven't done anything to help these kids shame on you.

Why are some people against hunting?
Posted: 3/15/2009 7:52:59 PM
I live in an area where hunting is allowed for a few months of the year. So, we now have so called hunters that call themselves hunters, yet they shoot the deer, injure it and the animal runs into the street only to be hit . There have been numerous times that I've had to call the police to put the animal down. Even the cops have had enough of these pseudo hunters. We are not living in most areas where hunting is a way of life now. And in the bays the same thing is happening. I've seen hunters shoot at the geese only to leave them in the water wounded..and they might retrieve them. This is the type of hunting that I am against. As stated before if it's a quick kill and you use the whole animal that is understandable.

There's no difference to hunting verses fishing.. it's how the kill is done. When I fish it's a quick beheading. How many hunters can say that their kill is quick?

Well, if one is so pro wearing fur, why not skin the animal yourself. And also consume the meat too. I fish and do all the cleaning and gutting. I've lost the desire for meat and could not skin an animal for it's fur. Also, when do hunters hunt mink and such animals for their meat and fur?? I think not. I've seen how these small creatures are tortured for their fur. So, please spare me the hunters style of killing as a means to wear a mink coat.

Loners vs. lonely
Posted: 3/15/2009 9:48:31 AM
I relish my time alone. I work with people all the time, so I need my alone time. When I was in my twenties and early thirties I was out a lot. Dancing, dating socializing. Now, I am past that. I think when it's out of your system one desires change. One can be around tons of people and still feel lonely, yet others can be alone and not feel lonely. It's how comfortable one is with oneself.

As stated above "I'm proud to wear fur and I have no problems enjoying what nature gave us" Well, does it bother you the way the animal is skinned? Alive, electrocuted or any other inhumane way? Those animals are only used for their fur, not the meat. Where's the respect and understanding on your part?

I just saw the wrestler.. I thought it was ok. Not as hyped as everyone says. That's the problem with hyped up movies. When I see it, I rarely see the greatness of it. Then I saw the Reader.. I wanted a refund. I seem to like movies that are down played. Movies that I buy that I have never heard of are better then the ones I hear about.

I think cougars are the most beautiful cats that I've ever seen. If someone referred to me as a cougar I'd take it as a compliment. It's the word ma'am that I can't stand. When someone calls me that I feel like an eighty year old woman in the eighteen hundreds.

Not a tomorrow in one of them...
Posted: 1/30/2009 6:25:19 AM
There's not a tomorrow in one of them because they aren't the one. That doesn't mean that is it YOU. I know people that date all the time. I know the real them. I can understand why their dates don't work. On the flip side I have a few great friends that like myself just meet nuts or non-nut jobs but there was no connection. As stated above a lot has to do with timing and luck. Sometimes it just lands in your lap. It's happened to me once. I answered my door, it was a guy looking for my sis (he worked with her as an E.M.T.) and was lost. Next thing, he called me and we dated for a while. The first love of my life. And all I did was answer my door.

What do you expect when you are at suck events. Accidents even happen at baseball games. Just recently a woman was hit in the head from a bat the broke. It shattered her jaw and she has undergone surgery and needs more. She tried to sue but lost. When one attends such events you are taking your health and life at you own risk. To avoid danger.. then don't go.
