Introverted vs Extroverted women as by definition
Posted:
8/26/2009 4:10:06 AM
The Definition of both:
Most people believe that an extrovert is a person who is friendly and outgoing. While that may be true, that is not the true meaning of extroversion. Basically, an extrovert is a person who is energized by being around other people. This is the opposite of an introvert who is energized by being alone.
Extroverts tend to "fade" when alone and can easily become bored without other people around. When given the chance, an extrovert will talk with someone else rather than sit alone and think. In fact, extroverts tend to think as they speak, unlike introverts who are far more likely to think before they speak. Extroverts often think best when they are talking. Concepts just don't seem real to them unless they can talk about them; reflecting on them isn't enough.
Extroverts enjoy social situations and even seek them out since they enjoy being around people. Their ability to make small talk makes them appear to be more socially adept than introverts (although introverts may have little difficulty talking to people they don't know if they can talk about concepts or issues).
Extrovert behavior seems to be the standard in American society, which means that other behavior is judged against the ways an extrovert would behave. However, extroverted behavior is simply a manifestation of the way an extrovert interacts with the world. Extroverts are interested in and concerned with the external world.
Contrary to what most people think, an introvert is not simply a person who is shy. In fact, being shy has little to do with being an introvert! Shyness has an element of apprehension, nervousness and anxiety, and while an introvert may also be shy, introversion itself is not shyness. Basically, an introvert is a person who is energized by being alone and whose energy is drained by being around other people.
Introverts are more concerned with the inner world of the mind. They enjoy thinking, exploring their thoughts and feelings. They often avoid social situations because being around people drains their energy. This is true even if they have good social skills. After being with people for any length of time, such as at a party, they need time alone to "recharge."
When introverts want to be alone, it is not, by itself, a sign of depression. It means that they either need to regain their energy from being around people or that they simply want the time to be with their own thoughts. Being with people, even people they like and are comfortable with, can prevent them from their desire to be quietly introspective.
Being introspective, though, does not mean that an introvert never has conversations. However, those conversations are generally about ideas and concepts, not about what they consider the trivial matters of social small talk.
Introverts make up about 60% of the gifted population but only about 25-40% of the general population.

Manners when asking for Messenger ID
Posted:
8/26/2009 4:04:04 AM
I just tell guys straight up "I don't give out my IM, so get to know me the way this arena was set up, or find another fish." I like emailing better than IM. It's just a faster way of textng, so why not just get to know the person, and then talk on the phone. Emailing/texting is too impersonal which is why guys have an easier time doing it, or writing sexually explicit crap which is why women have stopped being nice about IM.

Introverted vs Extroverted women

If you are an extroverted guy, I have fun with you, but then get bored with party attitude. If you are an overly introverted guy, I ease you into my world, but I usually hate that most introverted guys are afraid to dance. I choose a guy that balances in between, or I lose interest in both types.

White guys dating Black girls?
Posted:
8/26/2009 3:49:52 AM
Yeah, OP,your post lacks the proper depth. The title would fare better as "White guy dating a girl who's tastes in music/drugs is getting to me, what do I do?" Her taste in music and drugs is not based on her skin, it's based on her taste. I don't feel your aim is mean-spirited, but it is coming off as... well racist.

Personally not fond of earplugs where the ealobes are enlarged. It's smelly and looks... odd on either sex unless you enlarge the lips, and place the plates in them. Even then, I won't fine you attractive, but at least I will know what tribe you are from.

Lying about your age

Ah to Hell, I am going to have to agree with the icepick vegas. We women lie about our bodies (heels, wonderbras, corsets undies, age, hair, use of make up, sexual wants, etc) all the time. Of course if we told the truth, the guy would want us to lie!
You only learn the truth when you are ready to handle it one unravelled lie after another.

Not talking is always a difficult one to ascertain. Try talking about it at dinner with her hen you see her. Get the issue out in the open where it can be dealt with quickly. The guy I am seeing righ now, we have been talking for over a month on the phone, and have gone out on a few dates, too. Not more than a two days will go by w/o 1 of us communicating via phone or email. That's just us.

37 and still single? Why won't a woman date me?
Posted:
8/25/2009 5:47:56 AM
Any woman who dates you will have to deal with this, and this alot to deal with:
Individuals with AS can exhibit a variety of characteristics and the disorder can range from mild to severe. Persons with AS show marked deficiencies in social skills, have difficulties with transitions or changes and prefer sameness. They often have obsessive routines and may be preoccupied with a particular subject of interest. They have a great deal of difficulty reading nonverbal cues (body language) and very often the individual with AS has difficulty determining proper body space. Often overly sensitive to sounds, tastes, smells, and sights, the person with AS may prefer soft clothing, certain foods, and be bothered by sounds or lights no one else seems to hear or see. It's important to remember that the person with AS perceives the world very differently. Therefore, many behaviors that seem odd or unusual are due to those neurological differences and not the result of intentional rudeness or bad behavior, and most certainly not the result of "improper parenting".
By definition, those with AS have a normal IQ and many individuals (although not all), exhibit exceptional skill or talent in a specific area. Because of their high degree of functionality and their naiveté, those with AS are often viewed as eccentric or odd and can easily become victims of teasing and bullying. While language development seems, on the surface, normal, individuals with AS often have deficits in pragmatics and prosody. Vocabularies may be extraordinarily rich and some children sound like "little professors." However, persons with AS can be extremely literal and have difficulty using language in a social context.
At this time there is a great deal of debate as to exactly where AS fits. It is presently described as an autism spectrum disorder and Uta Frith, in her book AUTISM AND ASPERGER'S SYNDROME, described AS individuals as "having a dash of Autism". Some professionals feel that AS is the same as High Functioning Autism, while others feel that it is better described as a Nonverbal Learning Disability. AS shares many of the characteristics of PDD-NOS (Pervasive Developmental Disorder; Not otherwise specified), HFA, and NLD and because it was virtually unknown until a few years ago, many individuals either received an incorrect diagnosis or remained undiagnosed. For example, it is not at all uncommon for a child who was initially diagnosed with ADD or ADHD be re-diagnosed with AS. In addition, some individuals who were originally diagnosed with HFA or PDD-NOS are now being given the AS diagnosis and many individuals have a dual diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome and High Functioning Autism.

Single father 38 I need your input on dating
Posted:
8/25/2009 5:37:15 AM
I am glad you had a 4 year old to raise through your thirties then your twenties. That does not always bode well. Having a kid just means juggling your priorities, and at 38, you should have job that can pay for babysitting, so you can have life outside of being Dad. Unfortunately for you, putting down that you look for young women (20's) messes you up. They don't typically want the baggage of a 38 year old single father, an (also ladies your age think less of you when they see your wanting 20 year olds, so you don't get any play either way). They want to be number 1, and unless you can share that stage with them, better luck finding a woman in your age bracket who understands you.

Hilarioiusly bad communication blunders/misunderstandings
Posted:

I was sparring with my partner, and we were trying to get a move right. We were both heck of tired, but didn't want to quit in front of each other. I tried to goad him on because I was too tired to attack"Think you can take me!? Huh?" He smiles, and says "Is that a come on because I have been dying to get a load off." Before I could bust out laughing or hit him, he did the hip throw, and I hit the mat. What can I say, we have had two pretty good dates all from one slip of the tongue.

If your past has not bitten you in the arse (ie sexually transmitted diseases, more kids than an orphanage, and crazy exes still contacting you), don't sweat it. Women get around too as you have proved by sleeping with so many, so it all even out that everyone has a past. Good or bad, learn from it, and don't hide it.

IMHO:
Everyone is right about their sexual appetites as long as no one gets physically or psychologically damaged.
I am far from vanilla, but not yet ready to have a cattle prod or use a prince wand on a guy for leaving tomato seeds on the dinner plates after I reminded him with a cat'o'nine tails the night before to wash them before putting them in the dishwasher I just like things to be fun, wild, and ... well youget the picture.

The art of breaking up
Posted:
8/25/2009 2:24:25 AM
There's no way to sugarcoat it, so just break up. Get the balls in order, and just tell the person the truth. The truth will set you free. When I have dumped a guy, I didn't waste words or time. We are on good terms because of that attitude.

Dating in the Dark... would you do it?
Posted:
8/25/2009 1:08:42 AM
Except people who are treated like lepers as kids, most people do not see themselves as unattractive. I notice many of my friends who are good looking see themselves as Quasimodo, and others who really are not Venus/Adonis-like see themselves as gifts from the gods. Beauty/attractiveness at times is really from the eye of the beholder. This converstion is reminding me of an old Twilight Zone episode.

So what happens when you have invested time and feelings with someone, and one of you becomes a severe burn victim where you are no longer the epitomy of hotness? SOL! I have seen a guy dump his girlfriend of five years after she survived a car crash where 25% of body was scarred with burns. 3 years later, she met a guy online w/o using pics, and he got to know her, and decided to meet even though he knew her looks were limited. He iiked her enough that they began dating, and are getting married next year. Sometimes, you have to go beyond looks, because beauty is only skin deep, but vanity is to the bone. Saying "preference" is sugarcoating the term "superficial" when used in conjunction with looks. Use "preference" to car parts because it gives a clear reason, and not a typical superficial one.

When I was around, he told his son to always sit in the back (he did this even when I was not there), that when I cooked something, to eat it even if it was ot something his mom would have made (he liked almost everything, so I must have been doing someting right), and to listen to me when he was not around. We may not be together anymore, but his kid still likes me.

My Best Friend's Girl

At 19 either it took you a while to graduate from high school or you are in your second year of college. From this perspective, relationships are like grades, ey go up and down depending on how much time you invest in them. You are getting a B+ from the beaus bestfriend (disgusting, but it happens), and a D+ from your main man. Either change majors, or flunk both, and start anew.

I think Girls have it a lot easier than Guys when it comes to Love, Dating, Relationships, etc.

Let's reword this entire train of thought:
Women have it easier finding or having a guy wanting to fvck them. This does not equate to a guy loving them, wanting a relationship with them, wanting kids with them, wanting to meet their family or vice versa, or anything else. It has to be worked on like everything else.

It seems that biggest issue guys here have against women is how much money is it going to cost them to wine and dine her. Solutions for Men:
1)Date other guys so that you each pay for your own half of a meal.
2)Date ladies who like to go dutch.
3)DO NOT DATE "HOTTIES"!
4)Date ladies who can pass as kids to get the kid's menu.
5)Date senior ladies who can get the senior discount meal.
6)Do not date, and "tie yourself with a celibate rope".
7)Wait to be asked out on a dae, so you don't have to pay.

I have no idea what is in Glendale, but most guys know that the first place to meet a woman is in her safety zone. Maybe this guy is the type that everyone knows his name in MDR, and he finds it impresses the ladies when they stroll by a place, and people go "Hi Fred, what's up Fred, or Hey Freddy, my man!" Or maybe he is terrified of open spaces
You go off easy is how I would look at it.

I have gone out with many non pet owners. Most because the apt they lived in would not allow pets!

Jail or rehab?
Posted:

We don't have the fundamental right to punish another because then we are doing the same thing under the guise of justice. Like the death penalty, killing someone to teach that killing is wrong. Especially funny coming from devout Christians when one of the most basic commandments is "Thou Shalt Not Kill". It is circular logic, and since we have so many prisoners coming into the system, it really does not work.
"An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind"- Anon. If we kill people by death penalty because the person killed someone, does that mean the family of the inmate has a right to kill the executioner(s), or the victim's family for putting the motions through to kill the inmate. I believe we have a right to protect ourselves, but do I want to become a killer by proxy, no. If my life depended on it, without a doubt I could kill, but once the danger was gone, no.
I believe that we need to try to something new. For some people, fear of prison time is a deterrent, and for others, the fear of not making enough money honestlyis enough to combat the fear of prison.
I have had to work with ex-convicts through those work program credits, and most of them did what I told them to do without question. They wanted to learn, and to this day, I still keep tabs on some of them to check up on their progress. Like anything else in life, you have to want to change.

Have you ever dated someone that killed your pet?
Posted:
8/21/2009 3:31:29 AM
The reason tempers flare so hotly for violence against pet abusers is simple:
1)Pets love us unconditionally if we treat them right.
2)Police use dogs and form a bond so powerful because that dog is willing to lay his/her life dow for them. The family cat and dog have been known to do the same.
3)A kid in my neighborhood was playing outside. His puppy ran out into the street, and he took the hit of car to keep his pet from getting hurt. That may seem crazy to some, but that puppy had belonged to his other dog who had died ealier, and that was the only puppy left to him. To this day, that dog never leaves his side.
Think about your most treasured pet, and honestly, would anyone want their loved one to die without a proper death?
I have cats, dragons, and a snake. I love them all, and I keep people who I deem dangerous away from them.

I have learned though some tough life lessons that as long as you believe in yourself, everything else in life falls in place. Call it faith, call it karma, call it love, but know this, nothing can destroy you faster than losing faith in yourself. Every culture has a Divine Energy to pray to, to ask for boons and healings, and all have stories of divine intervention. Heck, even Satanists and Luciferians ask for love! We find love and hope always at the strangest times.

Where should the line be drawn about friendships with ex's if you are in a relationship now?

My personal belief would be a follows:
If things are so well with the ex that they would fly to see each other, why be exes? I am not going to fly, drive, or walk to see my ex even if I had kids by him (thank goddess I do not). We are a thing from the past and my new interest is going to have my full attention as well as he should.

My mother and I: I dreamed about her dying, and the voila, she was dead the next morning.
My bestfriend: every time one of us is feeling an itense moment of pain, one of us will call to ask what's wrong.
My twin of evil: he always knows when something has gone wrong, and vice versa.
My ex: I don't know what it is, but he always knows when I am going through a tough time.
My cat: He can read people like a book.

I think Girls have it a lot easier than Guys when it comes to Love, Dating, Relationships, etc.

I think that when guys say they have to initiate things they mean sex. I speak to guys with or without their initating contact. Some guys get terribly intimidated by that, so I have to guess which guy is which. Neither sex has it easier. Men may say womn have it easier because when a guy sees an attractive woman walk by, and has no fear of rejection, he speaks to her. On the otherhand,if a woman sees an attractive man walk by, if she says something, she is looked at as aggressive. I make things easier for myself if I see a handsome man at a bar, buy him a drink, talk for a minute or 2, and walk away.He always follows, and that takes away the pressure of waiting for him to ask me to dance, or me looking too aggressive.

If he didn't like it, would you want him to eat it anyway?

7rainbows, I am Wiccan, so I know, too. I also know that in Peru, there is a tasty reat called Cuy which is Guinea Pig. In certain Asian countries , parts of India where my godmother traveled and in the Caribean where I lived dog and cat were eaten, too. Americans have the issue with eating pets, not everyone else.
