Why does the Rock&Roll Hall of fame ignore Progressive Art Rock?

I can ALMOST understand dissing prog rock, though I do think it's ridiculous .... especially if Pink Floyd is there . Yes and ELP were like gods in the 70's . Remember California Jam?
A huge music festival in the 70's ..... headliner ; ELP . And as far as Genesis, they were a hit making machine in the 80's, early 90's --- if not just for that, what the hell?
What really kills me is that Todd Rundgren is not in there.

Trumpet Players Thread

Not a player, but love trumpet .... whereas it seems most people seem drawn to sax, I'm almost annoyed by a lot of sax music --- not all, by any means.
Anyway, just found a new band, they have two recordings out---- maybe a new one soon (?)
The Budos Band ; afro-funk-etc. , very tasty --- trumpet, trombone, baritone sax is all I heard on the song samples (didn't get the cd yet) I ldo love me some baritone sax though, some flute too.... which I like . This is top notch, authentic stuff --- very 60's-70's (Stax) sounding, but something fresh about it too.

Eyes Wide Shut: quite possibly the most misunderstood movie of all-time?

I thought it's theme of "desire for infidelity" was obvious enough ..... or probably more so,
insecurity triggered by thoughts of infidelity is more precise .

I hate when people say suicide is a cowardly way out . The state of mind that got them to that point is a state that you may have no concept of ("walk in their shoes for a day") ....
even if you think you may have had similar experiences, you don't know that yours were the SAME experiences . I also think alot of people just get bored or annoyed with life .

Musical Guilty Pleasures

Whether it's Poison, Pet Shop Boys, ABBA or even some "Boy Band"...... they had/have
SOMETHING more than the average person that got them a recording contract . I always use The Ramones as an example ; purely New York neighborhood 'punks', who had an
eccentric streak that gave them the passion and to some degree, discipline, to put together something that was not great by most conventional musical 'standards', but certainly with great passion, style and even execution . Other bands may seem cheesy, but have players that are well above average.
My guilty pleasure is Nickelback , who for a long time I considered a 'cookie-cutter-formula'
band that I say started with early grunge, especially Pearl Jam, Soundgarden..... some would say Nirvana..... I've never heard any band that really sounds like Nirvana. I still consider Nickelback to be 'cookie-cutter', but they sure do it well . There are others who do it well too, I just recently got drawn in by Nickelback by the wry humor and sort of paradox of the song 'Rockstar'. I somehow decided on their second album after listening to samples of all their albums ........ love every song!

Paul Butterfield Blues Band

Thank you for reminding me. I was in a small town in Colorado last week and on the CD juke box was Michael Bloomfield (w/ Al Kooper ); the classic "Super Session" which I had not heard since I was a kid --- and probably wasn't quite 'ready' for at age twelve. When I heard it this time, I thought it might be Jimmy Herring, a more contemporary player (90's-00's),
showing that this music from the 60's has held up quite well , in every way...... even recording quality.
