Heavier Americans Push Back on Health Debate
Posted: 11/20/2009 6:46:11 AM
The key to this conversation that everyone is forgetting. YOU have to do things you can LIVE with. You can't do a program that doesnt live in your lifestyle. If you try and do that then more than likely one will fail.

Heavier Americans Push Back on Health Debate
Posted: 11/19/2009 12:14:53 PM
Okay look about the fat crap again. Look food is an addiction for many of the obese, but a vast majority make poor choices. Even thin people do as well.

The other day someone told me that I was so fat that the only thing I exercised was eating was hamburgers and french fries. He was listening to a conversation I was having with someone and he just popped in my convo. So my response to him is that I could run circles around him and it was too bad he couldn't get a surgical procedure for his personality.

I know for me I have a ways to go..not a long way but some weight still needs to come off. However, the only way I am doing what I am doing is to completely commit to my lifestyle. I think a lot of obesity is mental. Making choices is what is key. Choices in exercise, food, and especially how one chooses to live.

You can't make anyone change. But you can provide support to those who want it.

Boxing...
Posted: 11/19/2009 12:00:42 PM
Thank you :) Well I'm actually down 133 lbs now and lost another 6.5 inches for 73 lost so far.

I worked out so hard this week that my body is telling me to take some time off since I am having muscle pain in my back and totally rocked my abs this week. But giving myself a treat to get a massage tomorrow.

Its funny I noticed that the really buffed and in shape people who are in the class really aren't that in shape. They have to stop more than I do. Sometimes I think that "in shape" isn't really just muscle structure; it is also cardiovascular. Am I the only one who notices that sometimes really muscular people aren't really completely in shape?

Benefits of Dehydration?
Posted: 11/10/2009 10:53:00 AM
Dehydration is the evil to your muscle. It can cause rips, tears, and strains due to dehydration. So not sure why one would see a benefit. Now for the military, maybe they want them to experience it so if on battlefield they know what to expect?

Workout Routines for Real People
Posted: 11/10/2009 10:51:12 AM
I go boxing 4 days a week 60 minutes a day.

I think the key is finding exercise you can live with. I have a gym membership and go do weight training even though I do a lot of core in my workout already, but because I actually enjoy boxing its fit into my lifestyle.

However, I know a lot of people who workout but still eat way too many calories for the gym to benefit. There has to be a balance.

BTW for those who know me I've lost 127lbs now :) woohoo

Did you expect to be single this late in life?
Posted: 11/10/2009 10:41:00 AM
If someone told me I'd be single now in my early 20's, I would have laughed. However, I think for me things happen for a reason and one day things will go the way that I hoped.

At what age do you Just Give Up?
Posted: 11/10/2009 10:39:50 AM
You know I don't actually give up permanently. I take breaks. I go out on dates, then find out they aren't for me so I just take a sabbatical from dating for a little bit. I just kind of gave up on looking including tools like this site. If something will happen for me, then it will.

Whats it like being single over 30?
Posted: 11/10/2009 10:38:04 AM
Being single at 30 is difficult, but not life stopping. I wish I could say that it doesnt come with challenges. This year someone asked me what dating has been like since I've lost 127lbs. I said its no more easier than it was before. It actually is harder. For me, I notice there are a lot of men out there that find they dont like women changing too much in front of them. I don't know if it is insecurity or what. But honestly, dating in my 30's have presented a lot of challenges with the partner selection.

Rather than over analyzing it, I'll leave it like that.

Does online dating make your life easier?
Posted: 10/30/2009 1:46:28 PM
Easier? No way. Actually, I find it harder. What I've noticed is that people tend to have a few people they are getting to know you meet the person hit it off and they pursue you only to find out that they poof. Its a tool, but not sure its an answer to the dating dilemma.

At my wit's end...

muscle weighs more than fat...

This isn't true. A pound of fat weights the same as a pound of muscle. Now a pound of fat is larger in size not weight than muscle.

As for the posting..

You might want to switch up your food and not eat the same things all the time. Your body may need something a little different if that makes any sense at all.

I wanted everyone to know that I can now do more than I ever expected. Hitting the bag hard is one of my favorite things. Someone told me today that getting weight loss surgery is a cop-out way of losing weight. I responded the surgery didn't make me lose weight my tenacity and hard work did.

Plus I thought of her face when I hit tonight. Is that bad?

If my partner is out with his friends, I am not sure I worry about him calling unless he crashed somewhere because he was drunk. I am sorry what you dealt with, but rest assured I'm not sure why you should have rules because part of a relationship is a bit of independence.

Again I am sorry for your situation, but I just know what is courtesy vs clingy.

His posting was about losing 70lbs. You have no clue what its like to lose 100lbs. I hate to say this but I have to be calculated with my diet and exercise. At some point, your body is at its meant to be weight. You bulk and become bigger, but at some point unless you are completely anorexic your body will maintain.

Last month I only lost 7 lbs. Now I did lost more inches. But I responding to his posting not about a few pounds. In my opinion 70lbs is not a few a pounds. He was asking about rate of loss. It just depends. What goes in is either burned or stored.

I don't claim to be an expert but it really isn't that difficult to figure out. Please don't diminish people losses by making those last few pounds the most difficult. I say that losing weight isn't an easy task for anyone whether you have 1 or more pounds to lose. My last 7 lbs were hard not because I at 1-1.2k calories a day, but because I am pushing my limits on exercise in a healthy way to get to my goal.

Why doesnt it. Let me dumb it down for you...The point is weight will come off when you focus on the things you have to do to lose weight. Watch how many calories one is consuming and burning calories by exercising. Does that make more sense for you?

I mean being that I have lost 111 lbs I guess I know what I am talking about.

Getting burned out on dating?
Posted: 10/9/2009 7:23:56 AM
Its funny I've been dateless lately and this weekend for some reason I have a couple of dates. One guy I've been out with before and he's so excited, but its been a while since we got to hang out and I'm glad to be seeing him, but just not as excited. The new guy, I am excited to meet, but I guess my expectations are so low that I'm not all that excited about it.

I think for me; I just have lowered my expectations on dating (not the quality of the guy but the date itself), that maybe I've lost my mojo for dating?

Maybe I'm alone or just rambling.

I'd say quit focusing on losing weight and do the things you have to do to lose. Exercise and eating right. Things will happen at the rate that you do those things in coordination. And sometimes you gotta mix things up!

when to eat
Posted: 10/5/2009 6:27:10 PM
I think it really depends. Like for me if I workout an hour after I eat or an hour after I tend to get sick. The only advice I have is if you do have carbs that you eat a protein for every carb you eat. It kind of zeros out the carbs that you eat.

I recently had someone come up to me and ask me why I let myself get fat. I think I about passed out with such a stupid question. I didn't even respond; I walked away and continued my exercising. For some people, it amazes me that they don't want overweight people in the gym. I also just remember stupid people say stupid things.
