Washington Nationals - Just trade Soriano
Posted: 3/20/2006 5:31:39 PM
Come on Nationals, you let this guy duck out on playing the OF during an exhibition game?? There's a sign of trouble. Jose Vidro is your All-Star 2B, and don't forget that he has the good glove.
If he won't play the OF, then trade for someone who will. You can get a higher calibur outfielder than Soriano will be, so why not talk to different teams about shipping his selfish act off to them for some good talent out there.
He's already disrespected you guys.. Trade him to Tampa Bay for Baldelli (just my opinion). See how Soriano likes playing there. He'll get his spot, but he won't be on a decent team.

Did you hear what I said?? I am a republican!!
Bush - 34% approval rating (even his own party is turning on him)
Cheney - 18% approval rating (Nice shot, by the way)
Quit using your radio talk show style insults and present me a valid argument on where Bush has gone right here..
Tell me why we are in Iraq when Osama Bin Laden is roaming the mountains in Afghanistan/Pakistan?? Not only are we slacking in our search for him, but our troops are sitting in the middle of a civil war over there in Iraq.
It's like if someone punches you in the face, so you go off and pull thier sister's hair..... Tell me why Bush didn't take care of the Osama business first?? Tell me why Bush accomodated his family by flying them out of our country? (and oh yeah, this is when all air flight was restricted.. It was instantly after 9/11 when this happened).
Iraq is free. Saddam is gone.... leave them alone! Being over there is not protecting our freedom. Who knows what in the hell Bin Laden is up to.
Why don't you come up with something more original than calling us "Bush Bashers", Libs, Leftists, and all of that other nonsense that you people come up with. I was on Bush's side for a while until he started making bad choice after bad choice.
It is a JOKE, and I want you to tell me why it isn't! If you don't have anything else to say but what you did above, you just need to stay silent.

I rolled through Gulfport and New Orleans on Feb. 4th..... Those places still look like hell. Metal Billboard poles were snapped in 2 like they were twigs... This was like a big area of damage from Gulfport to New Orleans. I know it's a big area, but still, New Orleans should still be looking alot better than it does right now. There's still 25-35 abandonded cars underneath a bridge, and they were all flooded out. Hell, right when we hit New Orleans East there was a splintered sailboat that was overturned on the median.
The only progress I saw was the I-10 bridge. Everything else looked like it had stayed the same. Now they have more crap to clean up when Mardi Gras ends. Nice job, George.
Faking
Emergency
Management
Assistance
People were wondering about the looting, and comparing it to why nobody on 9/11 didn't loot..... Well, they had a way out of New York. Their city didn't flood, and they still had an economy. Yes, the people of N.O. should have stocked up if they stayed, but hell, they would have needed a truck full if they were going to wait for FEMA. When they declared martial law on the city after the hurricane passed, you kind of figured that looting would happen. Look at it this way, if they didn't loot the food would have been spoiled anyways..... Put it to good use!
Bush is like that kid in class that get's pushed down (9/11), then keeps stumbling over desks (hurricanes, economy, his past) trying to get up while the classmates (the World) keeps laughing at him.

Maybe a stretcher ride was like $500, so he did that to add on to a lawsuit or something.

Just to get it out of the way, I was raised republican.
Yes, it is wonderful that Saddam was taken out as leader of Iraq...
But wasn't there a certain individual that we should have gotten way before Iraq?? Wasn't there a certain someone that George W. Bush vowed to track down after his terrorist group blew down our buildings and punched a hole into the Pentagon??
Well.... where is he, Mr. Bush?? You owe it to the victims of 9/11 to actually catch the guy who did it, and not play giddy little games of video tag with him and his buddies.
Yes, the Iraq war was o.k, but we've overstayed our welcome...... Now get our men out of there and give them something to do besides sitting around and playing crossing guard in the middle of mine fields!
If Mr. Bush put as much effort into Osama like he did with Saddam, Bin Laden would have been dead already. If we can invade a country and remove their dictator that easy, then we should spend some time finding the ones who've actually done some crap.
5 years and counting...... Old age will kill Osama before we do at this pace.

Look at it this way..... If you suffer a career ending injury during your 1st NBA game (God forbid that, but the way), what would you have to fall back on?
Can't play in the league forever. I'd keep to the books and build up a contingency.

16, 17..... You think these big name companies that have given her endorsements give 1 crap about how old she is?
They pay her like a big girl, so she needs to play like a big girl. She can't come up to the big stage thinking she's going to dominate the world, then use her age as an excuse to get by with tanking.
She is not a clutch golfer.... And her age doesn't matter. She didn't pick up golf clubs yesterday.
Will she be good? I don't know.... But she sure isn't even in my top 10.
How can you be ranked #3 with no tourney wins? That's like putting Temple's football team #3 in the BCS standings with an 0-11 record. It just does not make sense.

That fan pulled one of the best acts I have ever seen..... He just got tapped in the face by a ball, and the man acts like his mom just got shot.
If he wasn't acting, then I can eliminate 1 person from the list of people I would pick to walk with me down an alleyway. haha. He can't be that much of a softie.

The WPGA ranks Michelle Wie # 3 in the world??
- She hasn't won a tournament on the women's side yet
- She can't even make a cut on men's side
- She gets schooled by a different person every week
- She has choked every time she had a chance to win something
- Amatuer tourney wins mean NOTHING when you hit this level
- I don't see Tiger Woods inviting HER to play a round with him (That's right... Sorenstam rocks.)
- She goes to daddy when someone criticizes her on the golf course
- She hasn't met any expectations yet, and she gets millions in endorsements
If a tour puts her at #3, then I should be a freaking pro!
Wie is a fluke. Let's see some winners here.

Kelly and Coco Miller (Twins in the WNBA).... When they played at the Univeristy of Georgia, I was able to meet them in the local mall (Well, because they shopped at our kiosk).
They were well known there, but when they went to the WNBA, it kind of went south with their popularity.

R.I.P. Don Knotts

Acting is an art, so here I am to pay my respects to Barney/Mr. Furley (Three's Company was the best).
The man was a great talent, and I think he should have gotten much more credit than what he was given (5 Emmys in his career? I don't know about that. Should be more).
I loved him as Mr. Furley in Three's Company. He really helped that show recover after Norman Fell left.
Again, a great actor/comedian dead at 81. God bless you, Mr. Knotts. Thanks for the laughs.

They do not give up!
Down by 24 (86 - 62) with 5:00 left in the 3rd, it looks impossible. Down by 17 with 7:30 - 8:00 left, it looks pretty grim.
But they came back with 6 3-pointers in the 4th, tied the game, forced OT, and won on Dirk's jumper with 1.0 left.
Mavericks win! 2nd largest comeback in franchise history. This team's worth keeping tabs on, folks. They are now 18-1 in their last 19 games. That's about as good as you're going to be without being perfect.

Oh, that Tony Stewart
Posted: 2/25/2006 12:46:00 PM
Tony Stewart is trying to become the poster boy of safe driving.... That's what peev's me about that hyppocrite. You imply that he's doing the things everyone else is doing.
Tony made the move on Kenseth. Matt ended up wrecking.... Everyone saw Tony crashing Matt because TONY DID CRASH MATT! You think I don't see the replay?? They showed it like 500 times. And didn't he and Gordon end up into the wall there as well earlier?
I know that Tony Stewart is probably your boy, but he can't be an activist for safety when he's constantly in the middle of everything by being too aggressive. He advertises safety, then goes and tries to RUN (Yes, I said "run") people off the track.
He's a good driver... It's just that he needs to lay off the aggression.

Complaining about how the drafting is dangerous, and how we'll be remembering another driver who got killed from dangerous driving..... "Hey Matt Kenseth, let me put you in a wall there." hahaha
Tony needs to practice what he preaches before he goes out and portrays Mr. Nice Guy.

Predicitions on the NY Mets for 2006
Posted: 2/24/2006 5:40:18 PM
I can't go against Atlanta until someone actually puts them out.
The Braves still have the deeper rotation with Smoltz/Hudson/Sosa as the top 3. Mazzone or not, these guys lived his philosophy last year, and I think McDowell's arrival won't hurt.
The offenses are about the same. You have Lo Duca/Delgado/Beltran while the Braves have C. Jones/A. Jones/Francoeur.
New York has the better bullpen, no doubt. Atlanta flubbed on the closer's role this offseason, and will probably put Reitsma or Devine out there (both unproven at that position).
When it's all said and done, it's about the health...... Well, Atlanta was the unhealthiest of all last year in the N.L. East, but the rookies came in and bailed them out big time. It's about who stays healthy and who is deeper.
Right now, here's how I pick it:
1. Atlanta
2. New York
3. Philadelphia
4. Washington
5. Florida (surprised? haha).

Have you seen the defense lately?
NBA Ranks:
Rebounds per game - 5th (42.55)
Opp. Rebounds per game - 28th (39.18)
Reb. differential - 3rd (+ 3.37)
------
Blocks per game - 4th (6.05)
Opp. Blocks per game - 15th (4.87)
Blk differential - 7th (+1.18)
------
Steals per game - 5th (7.59)
Opp. Steals per game - 19th (6.70)
Stl differential - 6th (+0.88)
-------
28 - 5 when scoring 100+ points (and you know the capabilities of their offense there since they have gone over 100 in 33 of the 54 games played).
5 - 8 when the opponents score over 100 points a game (They are 5th in the league in winning % when they do give up 100+ points a game, which compliments their offense).
The offense is great already, but now the defense is kicking in.... That weapon has now become a double-edged sword.
I can guarantee you that the Mavericks had no such numbers with Shawn Bradley in center, and with Nelson heading up the team. With the change of management comes the change of fortune if they get the right guy.
Avery Johnson is 59-13 since taking over..... I think they found that guy who can get them past their normal (This day and age, normal is the 2nd round of the playoffs).

Dallas and the NBA Finals is just as much of a possibility as it is with San Antonio.
You forget that Avery Johnson was still trying to un-tie the knots that Don Nelson left for him at the end of last season. Don Nelson's teams had no defense whatsoever. It was basically the first team to 110-120 points wins. Avery was still able to win a playoff series with that bad D. I would imagine that he could take that much farther.
The personel changes have gone way beyond the bench.. They made the right move by dumping Shawn Bradley (who was posterized by McGrady in last year's opening playoff round. Who could ever forget that?) They dropped Alan Henderson, and have been able to provide more depth with the emergence of Josh Howard/Devin Harris. Keith Van Horn isn't what he used to be, but he can still provide some help out there. Jerry Stackhouse was coming off the bench for a while as well.
Last year's postseason run was done with Don Nelson's team. This year, it's all Avery Johnson (And don't forget where he has learned... He did play for Greg Poppovich in San Antonio for a while).
As for the East, I give you San Antonio's struggles against them. But that 1 loss to New York in mid-january was only 1 minor blemish... Other than that 1 loss, they are 17-2 against the other conference (Those losses being: Philadelphia - Nov. 9th, Milwaukee - Nov. 29th).
Dallas is 21-3 in 2006, while Detroit is 7-3 in the month of February, and 20-5 in 2006..... Both teams are very, very good. I won't be surprised to see them in the Finals. It's just the matchup that has me wondered about Detroit. I know they still have the majority of their championship team 2 years ago, but they've had 2 cracks at Dallas this year (1 in the pre-season) and they haven't showed me that they can take them if it happened to be a 7 game series. It's a different story with San Antonio, whom Detroit had 2 convincing wins Against.
It'll be interesting to see, but this Dallas team is 2-3 times more dangerous than last years team because of the defense.

Sorry about the misprint... It was 13 home wins..
Now, as for Detroit "killing" Dallas in a 7 game series, they didn't show much promise of that in their 1st meeting when they got trounced 119-82.
San Antonio is more of a threat to Dallas than Detroit. They have that defense that can stop you. They have Duncan who can rebound the crap out of the ball, while Ginobli and Parker can give you some points.
I still think Dallas needs to work on the defense a little, but they would be better than 44-9 if they played in the Eastern Conference. That goes for San Antonio, too. The East is still the weaker conference overall.

17-1 in their last 18 games...... 13 straight road wins (Actually got to see win #1 of their streak on 1/3 against the Blazers).
They are 43-11 (best record in the West). They have already thumped Detroit by 37 and Miami by 36.
Is this team ready to push San Antonio out of the way?

Apparently the Mets didn't learn from the Yankees' mistakes last year.
It's not who you have, it's how they fit in together.
And what in the world are they doing trading Benson? Are they trying to screw this up?
Mets finish 2nd behind you know who this year.

your top 5 for todays DAYTONA 500
Posted: 2/23/2006 11:40:22 PM
I should have been a betting man.
Last month, I told my step-dad (a big Nascar fan) that I knew for sure that the winner of the Daytona 500 would be Jimmie Johnson... I was joking with him, telling him that I was prophetically speaking. haha
If I could have only placed a wager on that one
