No, it applies to those you just met. Maybe he was embarrassed. Its certainly what it sounds like. If he just up and started acting funny out of the blue, the problem is probably not with you, in which case, se la vie.

Curious about the religion pulldown choices

Why are all the choices spelled without capitalization? It's a minor detail, I was just curious.

Fun and interesting get to know you questions
Posted:

I am being myself, which is a curious and inquisitive person that is actually interested in the experiences of others-- if you don't think you have anything worthwhile telling, OK, then just don't respond.
Who said anything about canned questions? I've heard plenty of those already, mostly lame and not me. I haven't done this in several years because I was in a relationship and haven't even thought about dating until about a month ago, so you'll have to pardon me while I'm brushing off the rust.
I was asking about your experiences and what you found to be the most interesting-- not a "gotcha" or "snag" line. Just something to get the creative juices flowing. If you don't care to share your point of view, don't. And kindly, don't accuse me of not putting myself out there or not taking risks or assume that you know anything about me.

^^Reminds me of the "single serving friend" definition from Fight Club.

Fun and interesting get to know you questions

I'm looking for some good ideas or to hear what you have heard as good "get to know you" questions. I hate the usual boring, where do you live, what do you do, blah blah stuff. Something interesting that not only reveals something about the respondant, but can lead to other interesting topics of conversation. I'm trying to think inside the context of a second or third email, or a first date, so nothing TOO personal or scary-weird. A little personal and off the beaten path might be perfect though.
You girls have some really cool, insightful, honest responses on this board so I know there are going to be some killer ideas...

Called a golddigger because I expect a man to buy me a drink?

The situation is unique. Normally, I would never buy someone I just met in a club/bar a drink, just so I could spend a few minutes talking to them. If they want to talk, its going to be because they're interested in the conversation, not the promise of free liquor.
However, these two were talking on line, so its not like they were complete strangers. I think if she buys the first round, you better believe he should buy the second. To me that seems pretty 50-50.
If the tables were turned, and he bought the first round and she asked for but didn't get the second round, then he shouldn't buy her any more... and probably end the date in short order.

What do you miss about being in a relationship?
Posted:

Feeling a really deep connection with someone who gets me and really appreciates me, and I them.
Sending or getting little text messages, like, "how was your day".
Little affectionate touches.
Making dinner just for 2.
Secretly slipping a note into her purse.
Getting pounced on when she finds it later.
Lusting after someone who lusts after you.

So why do you think nobody responds to my profile/emails
Posted:

As far as the smoking, unfortunately they didn't have an option for smokes when drinking... Should I just say I don't?
Pics... working on it...
Something tells me "nice" doesn't get responses...
I appreciate it Ron, but could somebody really break it down for me?

What's up? Is it the pics? Is my English bad? Do I sound boring, disingenuous, douchey, lame? I didn't think so, but... starting to wonder...
Do I just need to email 100 girls before someone responds?
Your feedback, please.
Be honest, you won't hurt my feelings.

Photos? Well, I guess I will work on it now... do you have any specific suggestions?
The original version is quoted, word for word, a few posts up in QuiteCute's response (didn't have the all caps).
I think those are good suggestions, because there was supposed to be a little subtle humor in there, esp. the clinical depression bit. Thanks for the input.
Alright folks, I need more input, open the floodgates, let the truth flow. You won't offend me, I can handle it.

OK I've taken the last bit out and made some other changes. I tried to remove some of the cascading adjectives, although I've left a couple that I have a hard time finding other words for. Re-read and let me know what you think.
Cut loose your inner dogs of truth because I really want to get this handled. Again, specifics are going to help me the most.
Thanks again.

Perfect, that's just the kind of detail I was hoping for. I know that must have taken you a while to write and think about, so thanks for that. I'm gonna have to do a some more thought and another re-write or two.
All other comments still welcome.

Thanks for taking the time.
A spoof ad-- yikes, that's disappointing to hear. What part seemed "spoofy"? "Ad" I'm ok with, and the reason it seems like an ad at all is because that was, in part, my objective-- sell myself. Is this the wrong approach for this site?
Could you elaborate at all on what you said about needing to loosen up my profile bit? Am I over-selling? If you can pinpoint specific sentences or phrases that make it seem to need loosening, that would be most helpful to me.
About the interests, I think that's a really great suggestion. As well as adding some of those particulars to the message. Perhaps by staying so general, it's possible I'm casting the net too wide... your thoughts?
Keep 'em coming folks. Comment, critique, aim your truth cannons and fire away.

If results are any indication, my profile needs some work. Please let me know if I'm coming off too stuck up or picky. Suggestions from anyone welcome. Suggestions from women VERY welcome, a female point of view would be nice.
Go ahead, be honest. I can take it, really.

I'm pretty new to this site. I figure there's no sense is waiting around for a month or two and realizing then that my profile really isn't as cool as I thought it was when I wrote it, so why not take advantage of this forum. I'd especially like to hear from girls, but I can take critique from a guy too.
