So Much Success - I Completely GUTTED it! Posted: 8/15/2009 11:40:06 AM | Greetings -
I posted once before when I FIRST joined POF on June 11th.
I got a LOT of helpful feedback , which I truly appreciated at the time. Thanks to all the helpful suggestions, I wound up having SPECTACULAR success - especially for a guy in my age group.
That's why I'm back. For MORE advice.
But first...here's what happened in the 2 ensuing months since discovering this great site.
My profile began getting COUNTLESS new views each & every day - can't say how many for sure since it turns out some girls search anonymously.
After adjusting my profile in light of the suggestions made by contributors on the forum, I started getting a trickle of Women Contacting Me First (WCMF).
I was shocked.
I then decided to go ALL IN & not contact ANYONE first. The rules were that they had to write me before I would write them - no matter how perfect I thought we might be for each other.
It was a risky move to be sure. Because of the disproportionate male:female ratio on POF, many guys have reported they don't get ANY replies. Even from girls THEY contacted first!
But I decided to take the long shot gamble and simply wait for them to FIRST get ahold of me!
The results were stunning!
In just two months, I received SIXTY ONE first contact emails of introduction from 61 DIFFERENT women.
It was thrilling to come home each & every day to find my mailbox STUFFED with new letters from new girls...some of whom I wasn't aware had even VIEWED my profile - that's before I realized they could search anonymously. Girls from 18-50+. From as far away as Washington DC.
So, how come I decided to GUT this massively effective profile and start from the ground up?
Well, even though I did receive first contact letters from girls as young as 18, MOST of the women who wrote were in their 40's.
And, I generally date girls quite a bit younger than me. I tried getting with the girls from POF, but it just felt like our motors were running @diff speeds. Don't get me wrong. These were very nice women...almost every single one (BTW, in my count of 61, I EXCLUDED girls who contacted me MULTIPLE times before receiving an answer, profiles I thought were likely fake, and the 1 or 2 girls that knew me in real life and just wrote to say Hi and wish me good fortune.)
Anyway, I decided I needed to rejigger my profile so that it would be geared for YOUNGER women - ages 35 and LESS.
So, voila! My new profile.
What do you think?
As always all comments and suggestions are welcome...
PS I converted my original profile to a Forum Only Profile and will soon be deleting it. I still have MASSIVE amts of unopened email I need to sift through and many friends I've made that I want to be sure can STILL stay in touch. Not sure if this comports with the rules, but I hope any tattletale prone users will just chill & wait for me to wind this down on my own time. | | | |
