Falling for someone else's g/f
Posted: 7/18/2006 9:30:39 PM
A good friend of mine (girl) and I are in that situation, only we're mutually attracted, get along well and shes even said if it wasn't for the other guy (who she sees once ever couple weeks) it'd be hunky dory.

A little ridiculous, I think. Story of my life though, it sucks, but sometimes all you can do is put all your cards on the table and hope for the best.

Beer, Beer, Beer...
Posted: 7/12/2006 1:10:11 AM
In vancouver, (north Van) Taylors Crossing on marine drive. Their Hefeweizen is grrreat for summer.

Victoria, Spinnakers brew-pub. Most amazing dark beer I've ever tasted.

It is true though, most Canadians prefer their beer on the light side. Same in the USA.

#1 ale? Moose Drool Brown Ale from Missoula Montana... mmmmm

Do men like to be approached by a woman

Big fan of being approached, far easier to get what YOU want, and I know I find it flattering. Easier for us to, we don't have to second guess if a girl is attracted or not

Bertuzzi traded!
Posted: 6/24/2006 8:29:49 AM
Wow, this forum really shows what playin in florida can do to a player. Everyone has missed the fact that Luongo is considered to be one of the best (sic: NOT PROSPECTS) goaltenders in the league. Sure, we had to give up Auld, who had a stellar year but Luongo will carry the load now, with Noronen, another solid prospect to back him up.

The Allen/Krajicek move was to adjust the team to the new NHL where speed and mobility kills- something Allen doesn't have much of. Furthermore, Krajicek is years younger with a ton of potential.

Bertuzzi traded!
Posted: 6/23/2006 9:35:56 PM
Jojo, allen is a defenceman. The shakeup, with the new coach is great for Van. Even though Luongo's record wasn't great, hes faced the most shots of any goaltender in two seasons, setting a record in 03/04, not to mention playing behind a team that has offensive trouble and a young defence.

Auld, while showing alot of potential is a small price to pay for a high calibre franchise goalie. It also allows us to move cloutier and his 2.5 mil (which will pay for the Luongo signing), Berts 5.25/season is gone so now we can re-sign carter and another quality defenceman, Luc Bourdon is going to be with the big club, as will brandon reid and Jason King. Leaves room for Morrison possibly to be moved, for another quality center, or winger.

Not to mention the fact that we now have alot of room to sign Jovo with the cap moving up to 44 million.

Posted: 6/21/2006 11:39:01 PM
Hunting, for use, is a great pasttime and great for saving on food costs . My buddy down in Montana goes out and bags a buck in the fall, and it keeps him in steak for the whole winter.
As for trophy hunting, thats just sad and sick. Too bad Playdium is gone and I can't shoot digital deer there That was a good time.

Stanley Cup Final Is Between..........

Sorry guys, but I'm sure by now you know that Rollie is out for the series with a partially torn MCL, so its going to be Markannen again in game 3.

If the Oilers play again like they did in game 2, they can kiss the cup goodbye.

Cure for a hangover?
Posted: 5/15/2006 10:24:07 AM
Long, long list. but nothing works 100%. My personal favorite is to have a really spicy caesar- hair of the dog sort of thing, but clamato does wonders. Also, salty, greasy food seems to help as well. Drink lots of water during, after and the next morning. Advil, tylenol or gravol can help, but its inadvisable to take them while drinking, but if you've stopped for a few hours BEFORE bed, they can be OK.

My little secret...
Posted: 4/28/2006 2:03:27 PM
Its funny, in my Canada/US relations course, we looked at that "American Ignorance" towards Canada, and as much as it exists, Canadians are surprisingly ignorant about MUCH (not all) of the United States as well. It swings both ways, though Canadians have more reason to know about them than a person in Dallas would to know about Canada.

My experience as being recognized as being from Canada when I was in the US has been mostly positive, though people basically just say how nice the people are and how beautiful it is

My little secret...
Posted: 4/28/2006 1:49:12 AM
To start with, I hold dual citizenship Canada/US, being born in New Jersey to Canadian parents and growing up mostly in Vancouver. Having lived and worked in both countries, seen large parts of both and studied their relationship I have formed my own conclusions (which will remain so). That said, I identify myself more as an American, for my own reasons and beliefs. This is not to say I do not like, or even love Canada, because I do, its just how I identify in terms of values.

However, I am repeatedly alienated by "tolerant" Canadians (women and men) the second they find out I am American or even dual, regardless of how they knew me or the length of time previous to finding this out. Generally, there is just a rant about how America is terrible, and why Canada is so much better, followed by a "don't talk to me again you damn Yankee". Its cost me relationships, friends and occasionally made the workplace frustrating.

Does anyone have any issues like this come up? In regards to race, nationality, orientation etc?

P.S. Just had to vent... got another 2 hour long chewing out about why my country is going to hell

Ooooh yeah, Foxx is bored tonight. I was inspired to make this thread as I purchased "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" and "For the Love of the Game" tonight.

Since Kevin Costner seems to be very "touch and go" in terms of popularity, what are peoples favorite films of his?

My personal favorite is For the Love of the Game, and I think he did a great job recently in "The Upside of Anger".

I would make one, but I don't think I have the tools necessary . My only beef with it is that its very difficult to warm yourself up properly... no consistency in throwing.

I also like to dust off the PS2 and run some Gran Turismo or NHL 2004... but I'm rarely bored these days.

Aww, religion doesn't have a problem with sex, its just sex before MARRIAGE. But I think thats a patriarchal issue, made into a religious one, to ensure that bloodlines are correctly passed down from the male side. No cuckolding, so to speak. Realistically, the reasons to hold "no sex before marriage" for religious reasons is outdated, not because we don't see sex as a sin, but because the "before marriage" snuck into religious dogma. Western cultures no longer worry about it. I can see how Muslims would, however, as they still have a very strict patriarchal and hierarchical culture. Either you put up with no penetration, or you find a guy who is more open minded about the cultures he associates with.

Do you date black men?
Posted: 4/20/2006 12:33:07 AM
Because interracial dating is a hotbutton topic still, especially within areas of the U.S that are predominantly black or predominantly white. It may sound weird to someone in Canada, but those racial boundaries are still extremely strong, and family can have alot of influence as well (see: "Guess Who" with Ashton Kutcher and Bernie Mac).

The black/white racial barrier is also more extreme for historical factors, slavery etc. which many other ethnic groups did not suffer to the same extent, or at all.

So, society, history, family... alot of factors.
