yeah, so many regrets as far as the season went. I don't care too much about the missed field goal so much as the fumble right before half-time for when they were trying to get a quick-score. D'oh. Stupid Scott Fujita, I really wished they didn't let him go, I thought before last year he was their best LB.

But not to take anything away from Pitt, they went on one hell of a run. One of the best runs in the history of the NFL. This is the same team that 2 years ago won 15 straight under the cheeseburger. They deserved their trophy, and KC would have never made it all the way to the super bowl from a WC spot.

major differences between the red sox and the cubs:
1. red sox pitchers pitch through pain. cubs pitchers ass rape the DL.
--Pedro never was on the DL in Boston, Schilling didn't miss a solid chunk of games between the middle of the season and the World Series?
2. red sox fans are smart and passionate. cubs fans are drunk and apathetic.
--the sawx
3. the red sox blame losing on players (buckner). the cubs blame losing on fans (bartman), goats, curses, announcers, etc.
--Babe Ruth........Red Sox fans/media invented the curse
4. red sox fans have an excuse. cubs fans dont (the chicago white sox).
--What? Excuse for what? By that logic, no team has an excuse that didn't win it last year, including the sawx.
5. and perhaps the most obvious difference: the red sox are good. the cubs suck.
--What is their payroll? Teams get good, come close, and fall back down ALL THE TIME. Not every team can win it all the team.

I can't help what the cubs do game by game, unfortunately Dusty Baker has a lot of that. They've had bad luck, no doubt about it. Bottom line is that it boils down to talent. Boston has had a good run in getting players, and at the same time their payroll has ballooned to number 2 or 3 in the majors, attempting to steal the lead from the yanks. You answered #2 with your post.

Why take Vitamin Supplements
Posted: 4/4/2006 7:59:27 PM
Are all these vitamins and waterever water soluable? What I'm getting at is if you have too much of them, do they just exit the body naturally? Too much of pretty much anything can be bad for you, and they have so much stuff in multi-vitamins.

Cubs, unlike the Red Sox, are a tradition of good. While Red Sox fans continually curse their team, players, and buckner, the cubs have been saying oh well, there is always next year. They are the loveable losers, and I think the majority of the fanaticism is due to inheritance. I on the other hand am a die hard fan since I was about 5, and I never had a Cubs fan in the family. Plus as an organization, they had a lot of great ambassadors of the game: Santo, Banks, Grace, Maddux, Sandberg. They are/always will be a stand-up organization, despite not winning it all for all these years.

And there is no better stadium as far as nostalgia than Wrigleyville!

I don't see the Cubs doing much more than they did last year, they'll be lucky to win 85 unless their pitching staff has a minor miracle. But I love my Cubbies, and I hope they can prove me wrong.

What athletes or teams do you love to see lose?
Posted: 4/4/2006 3:28:33 PM
Teams
Yankees
White Sox
Red Sox
Cardinals
Lakers
Broncos
Raiders
Avalanche
Red Wings

Most of these only apply when the teams are among the best in their division. I guess I'm a bandwagon hater. I genuinely hate the Broncos and Raiders though, I rarely ever have rooted for them to not lose.

Players
Randy Moss
Bill Romanowski (when he played)
Kobe Bryant

Chad Johnson seems pretty cool, despite some of his dumb TD celebrations.

In Cinnci's last reg. season game against KC, my bro was sitting by the players entrance. He had a sign saying "My Johnson's bigger than your Johnson". So everytime Chad ran by, my bro gave him a hard time and flashed him the sign. Chad everytime kept looking at my bro. At the end of the game, he was going to the locker room, stopped, looked back at my bro, took off his shoulder pads and approached my brother. My brother was thinking he was going to get to kick the snot out of him, but Chad pulled his jersey off the pads and gave it to my bro laughing. He thought the sign was funny. I got a new respect for him for that, cause at least it's all in fun and he realizes it.

What the hell is Herm doing to my Chiefs? Can't believe he let T-Rich go for peanuts, and has yet to sign anyone. Been keeping distant from the players and only talked to Holmes once. Not been a good off-season for KC. Hopefully he'll improve their defense enough to make up for how much their offense will fall.

I'd really like to stop hearing about Seattle's loss. Granted there were some "bad calls", but if Seattle would have tried to win the game instead of sulk and complain, maybe they would have. They were in that game for pretty much the entire thing, and no call was so bad that it made it impossible for them to win. A good coach would have made a comment, then lumped the blaim on himself never to mention the refs again.

The day the music died. Feb. 3, 1959
Posted: 3/31/2006 9:42:34 PM
They died in my native humble little state, along with Marciano in a similar fait. First off they'd probably all be dead, from living the rock n roll lifestyle. Buddy Holly would probably have been the most well known, followed by Richie Valance and then the big bopper. This is all BS though as no one really knows for sure.

Heck, if they had stuck around and true "classic" rock had been more mainstream and they'd been the stuff, would the british invasion been as big or happened at all? It seems like the US was ripe for the picking in them years. Would have been a shame to never have heard the White Album, Sgt Peppers, Abbey Road, or all the other bonuses the Beatles gave us. Enough about those wacky mop tops though.

"Chris's version" of walk the line was actually done by Live(?) before him, thus not original.

I don't care too much about the show, but I tune in to listen to Taylor Hicks. I hope he doesn't win (and I don't think he will) because I don't want him to sign their crappy music contracts and have them try to make him commercial. He needs to sing the blues, and I would buy his albums.

Anyone else they could 'commercialize'. See, I can make up words.

I think Judo is pry the best martial art to watch, or any art along those lines, hapkido, etc. Something about using balance to get your opponant to the mat that is so simple yet ingenious.

That being said I enjoy a nice right hook to the jaw. Nothing like seeing someone connect with a crushing blow that makes a mans knees buckle from under him.

they should depend on Wood and Prior as number 2 (after Maddux retires), 3, or 4 pitchers in their rotation. They wouldn't get much for them, so they might as well nurse them back as best they can.

Pride Vs UFC?
Posted: 3/31/2006 9:21:06 PM
Things I don't care for in Pride are the ropes/ring, it's too small and the ropes provide a means for a fighter to escape and restart the action, and that they have more unbalanced fights. It seems like total domination happens more in Pride mainly cause one guy seems to not be much more than a punching bag. I haven't watched enough of it to give a fair estimate of it though. Everytime I watch it I find those lop-sided fights which are no fun to watch.

Contracted an STD. Is my dating life over? How do u tell someone?
Posted: 3/31/2006 9:13:35 PM
Oh yeah, and for reference, every single STD/STI that can be spread during intercourse, guess that'd be all of them, can be spread while using condoms. If there is even a minute chance, they should know, it's that simple. And btw, the chances are more than minute, even with a condom for HIV and HPV.

whoa whoa whoa. This is why I wanted to go back and edit my post from "you" to "one". I was not suggesting that at any point you, or anyone in this post has knowingly transmitted anything, merely citing an instance that I know of where someone else did, and is now in jail.

I was not even referring to you at any point. My comments were directed toward the topic starter (who was asking what he should do), not your post. I took a college course that covered this field fairly in depth, and while one course does not make me an expert, or anywhere close to it, I will try to guide others seeking random people's help, cause I'd rather guide them to a more knowledgeable person (ie a doctor) with a little fear than have someone claim ignorance and pretend nothing happened.

I'm happy you told everyone you've had encounters with, but jesus that should be a given. I don't think morals should even be involved, it's just common sense. Why would anyone want something they now probably know a lot about and all pain/suffering involved to spread to others and possibly ones they love? Not to make light, but haven't you seen that movie Kids? Yeah it's a movie, but hell, it gets a message across.

OK, this section is is just here for retaliatory purposes, and should be skipped by SDDoll. I know I shouldn't respond this way, but I'm too childish to avoid it. I apologize in advance. 3 minutes to read that little bit? Pretty sad. I could say a lot more, but this would be in extremely bad taste. Also, what the hell does medicinal marijuana have to do with anything? Maybe I should have used my technical writing course as well as the sexuality when replying to this thread.

Contracted an STD. Is my dating life over? How do u tell someone?
Posted: 3/30/2006 4:56:21 PM
I'm sorry but that's BS. If you have an STD, you should tell them if at any point you are risking transferrance. I don't care if they wear a condom, HIV, HPV, etc. is still transferable, and the other person should be fully aware. That is how this stuff spreads, lack of communication. And about the 80% of adults having herpes, are they including herpes above the waste? Cause that is extremely common and highly contageous.

No, your lives aren't over, but don't go around claiming ignorance and spreading it. You have a responsibility now to inform others (others before any sexual act, not to go out and preach). I believe it is a criminal offense to knowingly give someone an STD, at least some lady got arrested in one city for purposefully spreading HIV. What an evil ****.

About how to tell someone, it's easier to tell someone you care about before hand even if it means a split than to give it to them and have them come up to you and ask you what's the deal and all you can say is "I'm sorry, I was embarressed, sorry for increasing the liklihood of you getting cancer."

Get informed from a doctor, get comfortable talking about it. Like I said, your life is far from over, but it's not like a cold.

Exercise High
Posted: 3/28/2006 4:10:51 PM
one thing I wish I would have done was to take a picture before and maybe every month after. I don't think the difference is all that much, and I've actually lost weight, all-be-it 3-5 pounds. I was playing some poker with someone last weekend whom I had last seen right before I started lifting, and even though I was wearing baggy pants and a big hooded sweatshirt, they made a comment as to I looked like I have been working out. That's kinda a confidence boost, as it's making a noticeable difference. I still don't feel stonger, even though in 3 months I upped by bench nearly 60-70 pounds.

Pros vs. Joes - Does it work?
Posted: 3/28/2006 4:04:20 PM
yeah, the ice hockey one was great, mainly cause nobody could skate, not even the pros. The field goal kicking thing was hilarious, Anderson may be accurate, but he lost the boom in his leg years ago. Making a field goal from half his distance would be cake, since I'm pretty bad but I can make 25-30 yards field goals without the cheat-net. Mortan could not hit a 55 yard field goal.

lol, I always used to pick the lightest ball that would fit my fingers, then launch the ball as far as I could, sometimes airborn. Without being too obvious (well, obvious enough to get yelled at), I've one-bounced a ball to the pins . Needless to say I haven't really bowled in years.

Sadly/oddly, I don't feel stronger except for when I lift. I love that lift "high"/tight feeling afterwards.

Posted: 3/26/2006 8:39:59 PM
1. the female is in the driver's seat, so they can better control things. If it feels good they'll keep doing it.

2. the male's wang is at a higher elevation in proportion to their body, assuming they're laying down on their back, thus it's filled with less blood, and is therefore less sensitive making one last longer, in theory. Down side is less blood means less size.

Human sexuality class in college pays off in some ways.

I am almost a die hard fan of my teams as anyone can be, but I've never actually cried over any of their results, although looking at my teams, I had reason to. (My die-hard fan teams: Cubs -- MLB, Chiefs -- NFL) I can remember feeling like I've been punched in the stomach for a week when the Cubs lost against the Marlins in the NLCS (such cruelty building my hopes and dreams, then smashing them in a movie-esk manner!!!), and for a day or so on each and every Chiefs loss in the play-offs.

"Exercise High"
Posted: 3/26/2006 8:17:54 PM
Ok, so I just started lifting like 3 months ago, and before then I never could lift squat. To some I still can't , but that's not the point. Why do you guys exercise? Is it purely for your looks?

The reason I ask is cause after getting into free-weights, I started getting a feeling like my skin would burst and a sort of natural high, for lack of a better description, accompanied this. This lifting high I think was enough to keep me going when I probably would have previously quit. Now lifting is starting to get into my routine, like clockwork, even though my lifting high is slowly decreasing.

I go 4 sets of 10. My goal is to build strength though, not bulk. If you want more bulk, do lower reps of higher weight. I'd love to be 170-180 pounds benching 250-300, but at my current weight my goal is 225 for a max. A former WR for my college football team only weighed 190 and he could get over 400 on the bench. Crazy stuff.

push ups = great chest / triceps
Posted: 3/26/2006 8:05:44 PM
I started doing push-ups about 3 months ago. Eventually I got to a point where it wasn't time effective and the effort involved wasn't necessary. I got bored after about 100.

I've never been able to lift previously, but using push-ups I worked my way into free-weights and I've been pretty happy thus far. I've had multiple people say I look bigger/"do you lift weights?", and I didnt do a thing before 3 months ago.

How often should you work your ABS
Posted: 3/26/2006 7:59:26 PM
I find a good judge of how hard to work a muscle is by how sore you are after awhile, although I really don't know. Almost all the stuff from the previous post was taken from the trainer, but I generally like to work my muscle group til I can feel it. So I would not say a length of time is appropriate in gauging how much to work muscles, since it will vary by exercise, effort, and the individual style.

How often should you work your ABS
Posted: 3/26/2006 7:50:17 PM
actually, although I'm sure different professionals will give different advice, but muscles vary depending on use. Assuming you aren't going overkill, your abs can be worked everyday if you wanted too since they are used to being constantly worked, they heal faster than most other muscles in the body.

Just make sure you balance your ab work-out with some lower back exercises. If you work one group out more than it's counterpart, it can make you more likely to pull something (i.e. working your stomach and not your lower back can lead to you pulling a muscle in your back).

When it comes to other exercises, try working similar motions together, work the muscles that pull inward one day, and the ones that push away the next (i.e. do curls on one lifting day, then work triceps the next), then either throw in a cardio or take a day off.

I currently lift 4 days a week, run twice, and take a day off (mainly to recover from a hangover j/k, only sometimes). I have a contact with a personal trainer, and this was what was recommended for me.

Fishing
Posted: 3/26/2006 7:28:58 PM
yeah, general advice. Fish mornings and late afternoons/nights. Fishing during a full moon is generally good for night fishing. For smaller lakes, rivers and ponds, it's usually easiest to catch fish if it hasn't rained for awhile, and they seem to bite best before a storm. I've had some great fishing before some nasty storms, watching them roll in. But it's fishing, and there is still luck involved. Hell, the biggest bass I caught was in the early afternoon in mid-day sun. 22" bass, which is good for IA bass, but I had to go into the pond to land it. Last year was phenominal for fishing for me.

More advice, talk to local people (baitshops), most the time the old gummers are friendly and love to talk fishing. Change bait often if nothing's working, both type and color. Game fish tend to stick to the shallows/shorelines until they spawn. When the waters cold, fish deeper. That's pretty good general advice, although it's mostly for bass and in the midwest where we get some harsher winter weather.

Pros vs. Joes - Does it work?
Posted: 3/25/2006 9:29:15 AM
Naw, most of the time it doesn't work. Like 5' nothing guys trying to out rebound Rodman, it's all basically a lucky bounce and hustle. Not much skill involved. Plus it gets sad watching someone trying to catch a pass over the middle with Romanowski standing right there. It's not a good display of pros versus joes, let alone pros versus anyone. Set someone like steve smith or a top WR in the same situation and they'll likely drop balls. Maybe if they got teams of pros and teams of joes to actually play a sport, it would be funny to watch.

It seems like they're trying to do an American Gladiators type of thing, AG was so much cooler cause for the most part it took athleticism and heart to win that show.

Does full time officiating help in those other sports? I havent seen it. They are just as riddled with bad calls when you account for the ease of making a tough/bad call. The NFL, like any other sport, has their good refs and bad refs, and it's no coincidence you see some refs over and over every year.

How much is enough?
Posted: 3/25/2006 9:04:36 AM
See, for that specific example, thing is when I left a message, I never asked her out persay. The only time we met was at a party at my bro's house, and she left her earrings in my room. She left before I awoke (nothing happened, she seemed a little too drunk to take advantage, yeah, I'm the nice guy), so when I called her I basically asked her how she wanted to get her earrings back, then using that to see if a date was possible (sorta like George Costanza leaving his hat in the ladies apartment on seinfeld). She never called back to get her earrings, which I thought was odd. What happened to common curtisy? I really don't care about being shot down, it's being vague or dis-honest that bugs me. Gimme resolution.

When it comes to phones and leaving messages, I hate doing it. So damn awkward talking to a recording. If I ask someone out I generally only leave one message, but there are circumstances to which a second or possibly third call will be made. This was one of those cases as I had some phone issues on my end.

Sounds like I'll stick to my policy.

Backstory: I have a general policy of asking a girl out 1 time only in person, if she says no, then I'm done with her unless she asks me. If it's via phone, I bump it to two times if I can leave a message and haven't got a pick-up, 3 if no no pick-ups what-so-ever. Upon examining this policy with a friend, questions arose as to its validity.

So for the ladies:
Is this a good policy, or does asking out the same girl multiple times actually work? Would you ask someone out who previously asked you out if your situation changed? Example as of late: I left 2 messages on a cell phone, never got a reply from someone who told their friend I was "cute". I don't play these games well if it is just that.

Dudes:
What's your policy if you have one?

This was a very "high school" type post, for that I apologize. I just moved to a new city a few months ago, and have had no luck in the dating game as of now.

question for all the shy guys out there..

"Shite! Ask the man out and take a chance! If he's really shy, he won't let you know, so you've got to do it.

Might be a boring date if he never talks. Get him liquored up and see what happens!"
All good advice.

Always one of the boys never the girlfriend

Well, from a guys POV, it totally depends on the guy. If you hang out with jocks, and your a jock (major competitor into sports and what-not), probably won't get to much attention from a girlfriend side of things. Same can be said for other areas. Plus if you remind a guy of a guy, they won't date you, cause "that might be gay". Yeah, sad, whatever.

And to let you know this ain't just a girl problem, well, kind of, I've been told by many a girl that you are awesome (or something to that effect) and that you'll find someone great or a girl would be lucky to have you. My question, then what's wrong with you? I think they're dis-honest. This is no exaggeration, off the top of my head I can think of 4 different times, and more come to me as I type. And fyi, it wasn't from being shot down to make me feel better.

Til then, always a groomsmen and never the groom;)

Cubs baseball

It's gonna be a bad year. Prior has shoulder problems already, wood hasn't been healthy in 3 years, D Lee tweaked something in the WBC, and Barrett got hit by a pitch in the hand in tonight's WBC game. All these things aside, the Cubs will likely finish in the middle of the pack again.

I'm afraid the team needs a complete overhaul if they don't do anything in the next 2 years. And Dusty will have to go if that happens. Bring back Steve Stone!
