Do Others find it harder to meet other people in their 50s?
Posted: 12/27/2012 11:24:40 PM
I've noticed the profiles of older men advertising for younger women. They are plentiful and have seen this especially at Concerts and have been in social groups with men who don't want a woman his age. They act like adolescent boys most of their lives. What a waste for them as these women half their age aren't going to be there for them when needed.

Online dating, useless for some, but flourishing for others?
Posted: 12/27/2012 11:15:10 PM
I've been wondering that myself as most of the men I've heard from are not these things. It seems to be an ego trip for most. There is such an exagerated sense of self anymore it is hard to find someone who is actually down to earth. I'm wondering if these sites are meant for the crazy.

I've noticed that some of the pics are just attention getters. Some men like to impress by saying how much land they own and how a new convertible will attract women. I would rather he ask me what I like to do for fun and about my life. I guess he probably is too busy trying to get more women to impress.

Good questions! There are profiles written by men who expect he woman to message him first. There isn't anything wrong with having a big ego but in my day the men acted interested first and they didn't talk about all this sex which amazes me that men would put that in their profile. This to me wouldn't get an answer even if he contacted me. Where has the days gone that someone interested in you wants to become friends to get to know you?

This thread is he biggest piece of bs I've ever heard. I'm pretty sick of men talking about nothing but sex. What about a relationship guys. Don't you know the first thing about it. I'm embarrased that this thread was ever started. Men have no respect anymore. You are all sick talking the way you do. Why don't get a life!

How many here like relationships but hate dating?
Posted: 6/30/2011 2:48:11 PM
I would like to be in a relationship but know it takes time to get to know the other person and make a decision if you want to be in it or not. I wish there were a few local men who are decent in Columbia, Mo around my age. I'm not sure if they are on here, but I work alot and this would be an easier place to meet a good male.

Anyone who talks about all the sex he's getting on here has no reason to be on here as he would be too busy taking care of all his women. Ha ha ha! Why can't we tell the truth instead of being phonies. Come on guys get real, communicate positively, and get romantic and maybe lady luck will come your way.

I don't have a picture on here and haven't been mouthy. It is personal preference only as I'm not too hard to look at. I do have a question for you though, why do men grow mustaches and beards as I can't see their face for all of the hair, and they scratch.

I can't believe how men talk about women as it doesn't sound very respectful to me when I read some of the comments. I really don't care to read about your sexual desires. I look pretty good for my age but have wrinkles and I've earned them and don't consider them to be unattractive. I consider myself to be attractive but a few pounds too heavy, but I really like myself and am not in to pleasing anyone but myself. I'm not too picky about looks as personality and respect are more important to me.

Dating in Your 50's - Is It Tough?
Posted: 3/21/2010 11:05:03 PM
I'm older also and found that dating used to be much simpler. I find men very indifferent when you first meet them. I don't know if they are afraid of being caught or just playing cool because they want to seem in control. Even at dances some of them will sit and sit almost all night. I can't understand why anyone would pay to get into a dance and expect women to ask them to dance. They will sit there until it happens to. It seems a little backwards to me. Men are real complex.

Cheaters, and how can you tell youve met one?
Posted: 3/6/2010 10:53:19 PM
I don't believe not having a picture on here tells you anything as I don't have a picture as I'd rather meet in person.
Some players on here who never want to meet and guys who back out raise a red flag.

A character flaw causes this problem. To wish that she would get pregnant by a loser and he leaves is vindictive. I just hope she grows up soon. Personally, I think it will be soon that she wakes up and realizes what she has lost and won't do it again to the next guy.

Evolution of Women. More Men become less Involved
Posted: 2/28/2010 10:24:21 PM
I can tell you one thing for sure that the men on this site have failed in my eye. They can find more excuses not to meet and if they do they don't even get to know you. I'm not understanding why men have changed so much. Was it the Libbers or are men so intimidated by us he can't make a decision anymore. They seem so moody and emotional about everything. Always worried about a woman controling them. How can you control them if you have never met them. What a cop out for being a real man. This site just flabbergasts me! So many phonies and so called playboys on a dating site. That looks bad for the man himself to be on here and not interested in woman. Even if you don't have very much money there are alot of things that cost very little for entertainment.

Do you ever get bored with dating, sex, and everything else?
Posted: 2/23/2010 10:40:23 PM
That is probably why these marriages don't last as my ex didn't want to make he effort to work on the marriage. It was easier to move on.
It is too much effort for me to want to put any effort in a relationship anymore as the men have changed as it is all about them. I'm tired of it all and don't care.

What's the upside to being over 50 and single
Posted: 2/18/2010 10:51:16 PM
Nobody bugging you about what they like and you should like what they like or else........
I can go shopping and not have to come home and cook
I can talk to whom ever I want on the phone without being checked on
I don't have to go to his activities even though he doesn't like to shop with me or go where I want him to
I don't have to be concerned about anything I say as there is nobody to criticise me
I can turn up the television without anyone turning it down
I can watch whatever I want without someone wanting to turn the channel
The downfall is that there is no communication by myself, but it is better than the communication I had............

What else do you want to know about me?
Posted: 2/14/2010 8:35:04 PM
I have read some of the success stories and wonder how any one can have success on these sites. There are so many players on this site as well as on datehookup. The men certainly don't answer all questions. They want to write one sentences that say nothing about them like here is a rose days before Valentine's Day. (What kind of man would send this two weeks early?) Then to top it off there is a two or three day lag, and when you ask them about it they act innocent when they have been online emailing some other people and say "Who me do that not perfect me." Even if you talk even once on the phone almost the whole conversation consists of what they have done and their kids and grand children, and it is like I don't count as I can't get a word in edgeways. Frankly, I'm about sick of all the "too much information" and feel like not fooling with this online stuff as it is starting to stink.

Men are sometimes hopeless
Posted: 2/10/2010 11:47:12 PM
Actually, when a male wants a lover in the beginning that is a red flag. I'm not one bit curious about the outcome as I got the picture after he didn't want to get to know me. I want to be romanced like any other decent woman. I'm not selling myself short to someone who has no respect for women. I don't have time for the bs really plus all the misery it would cause me to be in an insane relationship like that.

Actually, I did mention friendship and getting to know each other and see, but he didn't buy it. I need respect and I'm not handing him anything on a silver platter. He just is too lazy or doesn't know how a relationship works and doesn't want to learn. You can't teach an idjet.

What about friendship, companionship, and love from you males. Hasn't that always been or am I on the wrong track. I'm merely stating the fact that a male had the audacity to say he wanted to hop in the sack and he didn't care with what. He is setting himself up for all types of diseases and maybe he already had something. I don't know a decent woman who would take this man up on an offer like that these days.

Just when I thought I have heard it all I encountered a male who wants a lover in the beginning. I asked why not get to know each other first and see how it goes? No dice! I can't believe he is naive enough to not understand why any of his relationships haven't worked out. I'm certainly not game for any of this.

Decent guys: are they all either taken or gay?
Posted: 1/13/2010 12:02:33 AM
There seems to be alot of guys who don't care about their dates since I don't look like a movie star or have alot of money and not young it seems no dice. I would just like to meet a decent guy who is down to earth (hard to find these days) and wants a relationship with a simple person. That seems to be hard to find as a needle in a haystack.

cheating
Posted: 11/2/2009 9:15:30 PM
I've watched cheaters tv and I tell you that program is really an eye opener as you have to be on your toes when dating. I guess you have to take a chance if you can meet anyone you really like and that is fairly tough when you are in your 60's. It isn't that I can't get a date I just want to date around my age and not rob the cradle.
I really wonder why people do that but think lack of integrity is the main culprit. I've never done that as I've always cared more about the person I'm dating than they have cared about me though. I remember one guy who had been dating a lady for a long time and he was playing around with myself and anyone who would look at him. He just didn't know that I'd found out about her. He actually did marry her, and don't think he does that since he finally did marry her. I was really shocked when I found out through another party that he had been dating her for years. I questioned him about a few things also and his story didn't add up so I had him. If I had been mean enough I could have said something to one of his in laws that I had worked with during that period but I didn't instead I moved ahead with my life. This city was small enough then that you could find out who was dating whom then.

Why do men say one thing and do another?
Posted: 10/30/2009 11:12:23 PM
Men are good at telling stories to get a date and satisfy their needs at that particular time. I have had a few dates from guys on here that are all talk. They weren't great catches either, but thought they were.
I haven't met one single male who I thought told the truth on here.

I don't have a problem with guys flaunting their gayhood, but these are men who are very young and have worked with. Older men over 50 haven't said if they were or not, however, I believe that there may be some of these around.
In this city there are too many women for the number of men and that brings on a whole new story. Alot of older men are dating much younger women.

Have relationships made you bitter?
Posted: 9/19/2009 11:24:53 PM
I feel that what I ask for is not what I am getting as it is mostly what the man asks for that is more important than what I want. It is like the males aren't listening but are so self centered that they move on to the next woman. I'm wondering how many they will go through before they decide they are going to have to mend their ways. One thing about a blind date is that you never know what kind of mind set he'll have. You'll be talking during a meal and it seems like things are going well and he decides later that he is in love with motorcycles or he has to hurry home because he can't leave his dogs very long. Their profiles are still on here.

I wish I had some good advice to give you, but personally I don't think any of these men on here are for real as they talk one way and then a few days later it is another way. I guess the beauty of this site is that you can play around and nobody knows who you are so you can get away with it. I guess I'm too honest for all of this. These success stories amaze me as to how one can wade in all the muddy water and find a Prince.

Why Do women dump men who are nice to them.
Posted: 8/30/2009 11:06:54 PM
I can't believe any woman would dump someone who is very caring and affectionate which are two traits most women are looking for, and it gets harder every day to find someone like this. There are so many men who don't say much of anything except for purchasing land or property at a bargain price and spending their time elsewhere. These men aren't young either and should have some experience under their belt yet they claim to be widowers and divorced. It is a mystery to me how any woman can find them attractive at all as all they are interested in is ... from some of the conversations I've had. Building a relationship from scratch is not what they want.
Nice guys don't finish last with me as the available ones are a rare commodity these days.

I believe things may or may not have changed. I always thought the male was the persuer, but it sounds like the woman is now, and I'm not going to tell a male I'm with that I'm in it for keeps. Somehow that doesn't sound right.

I think they wait for the woman to respond for the most part. I haven't had good luck on here as who wants to hear kissing is a lost art and I give good back rubs when you are trying to get to know someone. These responses I can do without.

Starting to hate women........
Posted: 8/15/2009 6:29:34 PM
This is an interesting forum, and I have learned something tonight. I have learned that there are men out there who are actually feeling the same way I am even though I'm the female. I had a date last month, and this guy wasn't any more ready to have a second date than a 16 year old was who just had started dating. He just wanted a date for one night a he didn't want to be alone that night is all I could figure out. He ended up not knowing what he wanted, but it was completely different before the date.

Posted: 8/15/2009 6:04:20 PM
Well, he isn't for you and you should be glad that you found out what he was really like before you married him. He obviously enjoys being a jerk and leading woman on as that gives him an ego boost. I bet down deep he is very insecure. There are a few older men that I've ran across like that. I would cut those strings as soon as possible since you know what type he is, and you know he isn't a keeper.
