The best way to manage is to REPLACE that thought of WAnting contact into something positive for you. An example would be to watch 1/2 hr of a favorite movie when the feelings hit. Whatever behavior engages your mind so completely it forces you to NOT think about contacting him. I like to memorize the words to music such as hyms, or favorite top 40. It makes my brain switch activities.
Our brain is pliable,so you will "dig a rut" neurologically and make it harder to terminate your unhealthful /unheplful desire, the longer you give in to repeating thoughts of upset. You must jump the track on your chain of thought.

Dating over 50

I do not know how to make that post funnier ! But driving home from DC I heard a radio interlude where the 3 men moderating discussed what the advantages are of dating an older woman. There were 3 big reasons to date an older woman: They know what they like in bed, they keep you fed, and you do not have to use condoms.
Now I was shocked at this radio discussion since it seemed to not be argued by the call in males !! They just kept going on about how you can milk the old girls for time and goodies since they have some finances. You can even barrow her car which you know will be in good working order... Funny , but sad that the view are laughingly common.
There is a brand new book at my library which outlines the true problem. As women had more voice in all aspects of life, they changed to require real intimacy in relationships with lovers/husbands. Women have changed in how they want to relate MUCH faster than men have altered thier idea of a "good relationship". Esentially men are seeking women that no longer exist, and women are seeking men that have yet to exist.Book is titled The New Rules of Marraige by Terrence Real
I found the best way to meet nice men is to find some sort of social group that involves sexual overtones. That keeps them engaged to show up and chat. While I no longer wish to live with a man, I do like the greatly different view they bring into situations. And sex with them is more fun than sex without them.Enjoying activities as a companion is enough to keep me happy as long as I have women to talk often. Then I can have my mind "matched " with womens outings, and "dates" with men that I befreind through the larger group activities.
Seeing as how currently nursing homes are surging in VD because the men and women hookup, I think the future will entail "lockdown" so that we boomers can't be doing the nasty in linen closets, or each others rooms. First we had birth control, soon we will have meds for girth control, and then we will have sex control. LOL!!

I now ask what type of "rules " there are. That way it is not some religious test, but just insight to what matters to THAT person. :) Annette

Love disappeared over night.

Lots of years of love and relating taught me..people lie. They lie to your face.Probably he LIKED you, decided enough time with "this one" and decided to taste another buffet item. How convenient to make it just before a" big event for couples" day...this happens a lot. Most folks(men or women) like to pull it on Xmas eve...LOL. Truth is he does not want to be in a "couple" and that is all you really know. How nice to be told you are no longer loveable. What a doodoo dump on you. But this is also a "tactic" to "lay it on you". If it feels wierd, its NOT the REAL TRUTH. Stop doubting yourself, that antenna works JUST FINE.HINKY IS AS DOES. Doesn't match? Something("you would not like to know") is being hidden from you.Jetisen this out of your life.Chalk it up to street smarts learning, and don't even expect "love statements"the next time.ALWAYS be ready for a relationship to end.Gives you the best confidence in yourself and helps you max what good CAN come out of relating to someone.
And oh, getting older does not make the herd any more full of "good ones".
Cyber hug sweetie.

Males disapproving of women having male friends
Posted:
2/3/2007 7:37:57 AM
OLder and smarter..I have old lovers that are my best freinds outside of family. No I will not give them up.Older men have thier own lovers from the past, or exwives...Life goes on, but I do not intend to wipe my social slate clean every time a new man comes into the picture. And would I continue to sleep with old lovers given a chance? LOL!! Just ask that question of the men and you have my answer also!
Looking for MARRAIGE is not the only goal in here. How about looking for a great companion that fills 85 % of what you need in your life? Younger women have yet to face the ugliness in romance.Seasoned men and women know there are myriad pitfalls to love working out and get more reasonable..if they are emotionally mature. If I can handle his running around ,then he should be able to handle mine. "Friends" in my book has no physical limits.Heterosexuals lean to sex involvements with the opposite sex.MY Friends tend to be the loves that could not go to the point of living together, but the love is strong and still continues.Unless MR Wonderful comes along and fills my life and heart's desires, those continuing embers will not become pen pals.

Long hair on older women
Posted:
2/2/2007 8:02:02 AM
I know the statement about long hair. I had a jerk ask me "don't you think you are a little old for long hair?" My hair was put back in a clip as I like all hair off my face and brow. My reply.."No, not at all while I still have a lot of it.As I get bald I will go with a shaven head !"
That stopped that conversation in its tracks. Stand up for the right to feel sexy and be what you want. That old maid thing about "to old"..excuse me?? Last time I checked menopause did not make me a dried up prune of a person !! I for one an not "to old" for any tasteful fashion.I was the first wave of women in medicine and I will continue to help redifine what women will be till I die.Youthful is a state of mind and life practice.Long hair is just one indicator of vitality(hair dulls and changes with age). Just as short hair can be beautiful.

This is fascinating ! I too hate to cook/clean up. Those plastic disposable dishes are great. You microwave in them(for out of the can) and plates are tossable.Who washes dishes? I want to go play.My dishwasher stores paper bags...lol.
Does anyone have a microwave EASY cook book? I found a nonmicrowave cook book of 3 ingredient meals. It leaves out the salt and additives since it uses whole foods. My heart needs all the help it can get...lol. I hate to turn on an oven for a small single person thing.Eating the same food for 7 days once a roast is cooked..zzzz..lol.
I would like a microwave 3 ingredient cook book !! I hate eating alone and usually go for the trisquit crackers with odd items added in. Or I use my 3 ingredient book on days off.

Easy answer, turn it around for yourself. If you had the stroke and limited capacity to understand things...and your wife went out dating hoping to party some while waiting for you to die off(so they can start over)..would it affect the care you get? The quality of your demise? The commitment to your happiness as a living creature? The time they spend with you since you are still human and capapble of feeling lonely...

Sometimes it is the face, where they live, or things they like that stand out. Pick something small at first, like a few activities on the shared interest list.

Have very little action on here.Tried sending MANY emails. Went paid onto aol match after about 6 months on here. Have chatted more people on the paid site.Met a few from there.Plus there is a free 6months additional time allowed on aol, so it came out pretty cheap.

Over 45 men wanting athletic women???
Posted:
1/15/2007 11:30:14 PM
I agree with the good health part of a search. But the request for athletic women has come with many interesting wishes. Some older men ski, dive and do very rugged sports activities(like mountain climb). My generation was not promoting athletic behavior (while I grew up) for women. I lack confidence and HATE competition. I wish that active men could understand that companionship does not have to be all inclusive.EVERY sport they enjoy does not have to be my forte also.I would love if an active man would be happy to walk outdoors with me, or teach me how to play golf,or PLAY A SPORT WITHOUT KEEPING SCORE AND BRAGGING.Being laughed at in highschool was bad enough.Being belittled by a man my age is even worse. I take that a man will say what he means. Athletic means just that..physically active. The motive or agenda has to be revealed, as much as I can giggle about WHY I should be athletic. One issue is that an athletic woman will feed him healthy foods in a controlled manner if they share space and enough time together. It is proven that women are the health watchdogs for men..men live an average of 10yrs longer if with a woman.SHE sends him to the doctor, bugs him about "that mole"..lol.So prehaps a fat man is hoping to better himself by being in the company of someone who is "his better half". Don't we all gravitate to those we admire? I like athletic men because they remind me to do my best in the pool, and not lay around in the hot tub at the fitness club. They are ready to go explore when traveling, not sit on a bench and watch the world go by.

Match.com and others
Posted:
1/15/2007 11:00:08 PM
I read Becca3 and I am thinking ,hmmmm. I know that I get date site spam now. I am paying on match dotcom and get NO emails from men. I am not a dog either. But I met a man outside of that site that gets at least 3 emails a day from new and different women. He uses the dates to get one night stands and then moves on. Granted the age group is older(he is 64), but just seems odd to me. When I email male profiles I get prehaps one reply of "no thanks" for every 15 emails I send. The others send nothing.Yet it shows them online daily.
All these bits and peices of info in these postings leads me to feel that there are fake profiles of MEN also.Of the 4 emails I have received all have broken English and very poor grammer. I think the "shared sites" idea is really bad. One site in Antarctica shared with one in New York..who ya gonna meet? LOL!! Is it prehaps that the NUMBERS are scewed in relationship sites..like 5 women to every man..? I think the STATS AND PRICE should be displayed on the HOMEPAGE of every date site. Then you know if odds are in your favor. If I see 2,000 members are men and 45,000 are female, I might as well just go out to a movie alone than spend it on another "squeeze that single for all they are worth " site. Searching is bummer enough without introducing false hope and rip offs into the picture.

Talk about fast...
Posted:

I read the Kinsey Report fom 1999. Surveys were taken of men who married. How soon did they know they met the right girl? Almost 85 percent fell in love at first sight. This did not happen a lot with women. If a man loves a woman he is kind to her. And if a woman is kind back..they stay in a loving relationship built anew after the "lightning storm of infatuation" passes. A good marraige is all about adapting to the changing problems and dealing with them in soft words and kind ways.If you guys have the capacity for it, we will all read the blog on your 50th wedding anniversary. My mom married at 15.My dad was 20. They were married till they died. One died 2 yrs after the other. In my book ..when you think you are old enough ,then you are OLD ENOUGH. Enjoy each other.

It is Spring and my bird LOVES me.Any other nice people owned by a parrot or other feathered friend?I cuddle as well with people as I do with my little girl****too. My little boyfriend quaker parrot wispers sweet nothings like "mommies baby","I love you" and "GOOOooooood Biiirrrrrd".LOL.
I dance around to the radio and sing songs with my canary.Love chips and queso at sundown.Make every evening "Happy Hour" with a snack and soda.Have learned it is up to me to weed the lazy guys out and give credit to those who really mean what they say. There are enough swing sites I just now refer those "one goal guys" to a few I keep written down. (Some you can contact people in chat forums for immediate date arrangement.) This has freed me up with people a lot ! LOL
I have no picture for privacy.I prefer to see someone and never believe pics.We all have blind dated and in person is always more telling.Talking to someone new is always fun for me.I have never regretted a surprise face.I have regretted other people trying to be me on paper and socially. They do not need my pic as well !
Love dogs and some cats.Like to watch the sun come up and also the sun going down.My fav thing in the Summer is to sit out and watch the changes of shadow.Lightning bugs still get e running barefoot in the grass! But now that I am "grown up" I let them go to have whoopie in the trees.Hope we never run out of lightning bugs!
I love to watch the real forensic stuff and surgery on discovery channel.Animal Police shows are also a favorite.Let's talk about our favorite things!! A
