Isn't it interesting how everything has a cause and effect. I heard a news story yesterday about the ever popular "croc" shoes and how much static electricity that they cause and have been found to interfere with hospital equipment and going forward may be banned from being worn in those settings. Humans are it's own biggest enemy.

Would you stop & help someone?
Posted:
1/21/2007 11:59:28 AM
It's hard to believe how many people just pass on by assuming someone else will take the responsibility to stop and help a person in need. A lady I work with went off the road in her jeep and it landed in it's roof while she hung upside down watching cars continue to pass by until she passed out from the blood rushing to her head. How much time does it take to offer a helping hand or a cell phone for someone to borrow? I have been the recipient of kindness from a stranger many times in my life and wouldn't hesitate to stop and help someone else. You have no idea how a small act of kindness can make a huge difference in someone's day and that for almost certain that person will in turn pass that kindness along to another stranger. There but for the grace of God goes each of us

who plans on going to Aerosmith and Motley Crue at the ACC on Oct. 2nd?
Posted:
10/6/2006 3:00:42 PM
I was totally into this to see the Crue and can see why some were disappointed...Vince's voice wasn't the strongest and the fog was so thick it was hard to see them at all and no jumbotron to help either. All that aside I am a huge Crue fan so I had a total blast. Aerosmith was just an afterthought for me but turned out they surprised the hell outta me...great vocals, good energy! When Tommy came out to play with them the crowd ate it right up...Supernova should be well received in this area for sure. Had the best time ever but seeing as I was with the most amazing company I would have had fun watching paint dry with him

Do Blondes still Rule?

I love being a blonde and I always have more fun
When I feel like being a fiery redhead or sultry brunette I play dress up...that's what wigs and costumes are for ;-) But in the end by far I'm a blonde at heart. Someone mentioned it's what down under that counts...you know what they say about the curtains matching the carpet...that's why I go with hardwood floors...that way only my hairdresser knows for sure

Gents AND Ladies Can Answer This One....

Hmm well Divine I have to admit that if a scenario was presented publicly on a forum about me and I had my side to share I would do the same thing. There are always 2 sides to every story. I think his response was actually quite mature and respectful. I can't imagine that after only 3 dates how blown out of proportion it got. Why make any assumptions at all after only hearing one side of a phone conversation? In all honesty you should feel good enough about yourself first. The "oh nothing really" comment sounds like it was taken a bit too much to heart. You know what happens when you "assume"...all about communication really. Best of better fishing to both of you

I SURVIVED THE POF GUINNESS WORLD RECORD BASH !!!!!
Posted:
7/24/2006 3:13:03 PM
Wow, it really is incredible sometimes to witness a forum where everyone has the space to speak their minds. That is one of the reasons I enjoy this site. It is a shame that there are those that can't seem to get their points across without becoming childish, rude and just plain ignorant. Certainly there are always facts and feelings and sometimes they have nothing to do with one another. Anyone with half a brain must realize the magnitude of organizing such an event. The logistics alone would be enough to give anyone a nervous breakdown. I'm curious to know just how many people actually put their hands up to offer their services as a volunteer for this kind of event as it's always those that don't help contribute that complain the loudest. Everyone that helped out deserves respect for what was a very long and somewhat tiring evening in the hopes that they could help provide an enjoyable evening for the rest of us and offer up the opportunity for a world record that dosen't come along every day. I wasn't going to post to this because it has been done ad nasuem and I don't believe the manner in which it was presented should even be rewarded with a response but felt compelled. I am also not a part of any "click" and to those that didn't enjoy themselves in the end have no one to blame but themselves. Nothing ever runs perfectly...life just isn't like that...when you live in that kind of eutopian world let the rest of us know and you can throw your own perfect little party...and none of us would show up...even if it was for free

I too have seen friends becpme different people when they became a slave to that drug. What an Amazing Race!
Posted:
6/7/2006 5:56:23 PM
Thanks...anyone interested in something like this should keep their eyes out for next year...a once in a lifetime experience that's for sure. I hear from the other racer's that there are a ton of sore muscles and saw a pic in the paper of one of the girls eating a scorpion...that image will stick in my brain for a long time. It was really an astounding amount of money we raised and will help kids go to camp, have music lessons, play hockey soccor and baseball as well as help with scholarship and tutoring. It's a shame that there are even that many underpriviledged children out there and to know we directly helped affect over 300 of them really feels great...makes the sore muscles seem all worth it

What an Amazing Race!
Posted:
6/6/2006 4:19:38 PM
I was lucky enough over the past weekend to have been chosen to participate in the Southern Ontario Amazing Race (SOAR) www.therace.ca. What an incredibly amazing event that started Friday night at 6 and ended Sunday night at 7. The racers were put to challenges that tested the limits of their physical, mental and emotional abilities. This race was run all over southern Ontario and was a fundraiser for the Children's Foundation. We battered and bruised our poor bodies, stretched the possiblities of our minds and even resorted to fear factor style bug eating challenges all in the name of charity. With the efforts of the racers we were able to provide the foundation with their single largest donation to date of $43,000.00 which actually brought tears to the eyes of the foundation president who stated that it will directly affect over 300 children this year alone. It was really something to see the spirit that all the racers showed towards one another in this incredibly competitive event. We literally began this race all over sountern Ontario without a penny in our pockets, no cell phones or navigational equipment or vehicles...just the backpacks on our back and our enthusiasm. We had to rely solely on the kindness of absolute strangers to stop and give us rides to our destinations. Over the course of the weekend we probably got rides from 50 to 60 people who were busy on their way to live their own lives...one girl was on her way to an audition for the lead role in the Sound of Music and was willing to be late to help us out. I have to say that although my body is severely sore and I will probably have nightmares for awhile about eating bugs I was given the chance to see so much humanity and kindness from one stranger to another as well as a group of 40 strangers willing to push themselves beyond their limits to benefit this charity. I wish to extend a very sincere thank you to some POF friends that provided emotional support and encouragment to me in running this race, to those that very generously donated and even a good POF friend that ended up giving us a ride when we were lost in Fergus...what a small world it really is...look how much we can all make a difference

Well I am sorry that I missed this one as I had such a great time last time and there were a bunch of friends that I made before that I was hoping to see again as well as looking forward to meeting the hosts after some email exchanges. Just as an aside to some comments that were made here regarding the hosts. IMHO I think we all owe them the thanks they deserve to go out of their way to put these events on for us. In all honesty any event or gathering is going to be the best that you decide to make of it. I am not discounting how anyone may have felt because those are your feelings and obviously you didn't have a positive experience. I do however have to say that I have made a number of female friends from these events and I consider myself to be an attractive person so I don't think that has anything to do with it. There are, in my opinion however, some women that just can't seem to get along with other women. Maybe you need to take a look at what you were putting out there as well to see why you didn't seem to connect. Hopefully you will give it another try and go in with an open mind without presuming that other women are jealous of you...that chip on your shoulder doesn't make you approachable to make new friendships but only serves to alienate you from others. Better luck next time and hoping you get what you want from your next experience

I actually also saw an interview that stated the director received permission from all of the family members and that his decision to go forward with it was based on 100% approval from them. I am also a little torn about seeing this one but I kind of see it from a different perspective. Movies are made every day about some horrible true life stories...Helter Skelter, the Ted Bundy movie etc. I have no desire to see the Karla movie and I am actually disgusted that it was even made. In some way this movie is a little different as it pays some tribute to the passengers of that fated flight. There is a story to be told of the bravery that was shown...can you only imagine if the plane had actually targeted it's destination? IMHO they truly were heros.

Funny how many men I hear this from. I would also think that if someone lied or posted a pic that wasn't even themself that would be a deal breaker. What are people thinking really? I mean if you intend on ever meeting anyone how could you think they wouldn't notice or be upset? I would probably go through the motions and be done with it.

Have we lost the meaning of life???
Posted:

Ah...contentment...seems for some to be something they are always striving for but never achieve. I've come to accept things and people for exactly what they are...nothing more and nothing less. This acceptance of life how it is has been the single biggest epiphany for me. I am at a place where I don't feel I "need" to find someone...I feel whole, complete and happy just the way I am. Instead I "choose" to have things in my life...friends, family, animals and hobbies. Good food for thought Kit

How do you get a woman past your pic??
Posted:

I also had a look at your profile and think your pic is great. I will be honest and say that for me a pic plays a part...certainly not the entire part and not for solely for reasons of attraction. Personally I just like a pic that shows a person's face...eyes and smile are something I notice. I have had many emails from someone without a pic or that perhaps may not be my type but have struck up nice conversations and friendship none the less. I think being yourself is what is paramount and if the rest comes then it will come for the right reasons and with the right person. I've seen a couple of mentions regarding coming out to some of the pof functions and I would agree that it's a great way to meet new people. A picture never does anyone justice. Happy

Some of my fav memories as a kid were going to the Mustang...got to stay up late and feel like we were camping out. Saw all the Star Wars movies out there :-) Then of course as you got older as a teen you would sneak booze and make out...man I love the drive in

Do you think, that peoples posts, in differant forums, are like an additive to thier profile ?

It can certainly shed some light on a person. Let's face it the bios are a little contrived...don't get me wrong alot of them are very well written but the forums are a little more of a true to life snippet about a persons values, goals and beliefs. It gives you a better idea of your compatibility. It's a great way to meet some new friends :-)

What do people find attractive in another person?

Eyes are a window to the soul for sure...great smile and just plain ol charisma...some people just have such a positive aura about them that makes you want to gravitate towards them and I really don't think that has anything to do with appearance. It's also something that doesn't come across in a photo...you're beautiful just the way you are and for who you are.
Happy Fishing Hun :-)
