Just added a photo of my dog to my profile. The only thing dangerus about him is his ability to drown with a lick.

Do you do drugs???

I personally don’t have any desire to take any illicit drugs. Also I consume very little alcohol as I derive no enjoyment from being drunk.
All dugs weather illicit or legal are a form of poisoning and it is there toxicological effect is what gives people a high or treats an ailment. But all drugs carry unwanted side effects that have to be considered and weighed against the benefits.
I have seen enough people that have been rewind by drugs.

I’m tied to having to use a car or motorcycle for my commute to work. Out side of that I don’t make much use of them as I am with 15 minutes walk of most things I need.

SCAMS - for the guys
Posted:

I have encountered a couple of the Nigerian ones. One being a woman who’s father had been falsely imprisoned who was very wealthy, and needed money to fight for his release as he could not access his money from jail. The other one was one of those exiled people that had laundered money from a government and needed a bank account to transfer it through. In both instances I advised them that they should seek out a person called Monopoly.

Guilt from profile attraction
Posted:

There is nothing wrong with following thumbnail images that do not show the member’s age. It is not always easy the determine age from a picture. You know what you are looking for in a person so if you find that the age of the person is not for you then just move on to the next profile.

Does YOUR ride say anything about you?
Posted:

My choice in car starts with how comfortable the drivers seat and position is. Then it is my preference for 5 door cars and the space for all of my clobber and the dog. As for luxuries: electric windows, electric / heated wing mirrors and my audio system.

Just tell him directly as he will probably be too carful about misinterpreting your friend’s signals, and will be doing every thing he can to avoid accidently causing offence.
With there already being a connection he will probably take even more care which may conceal any signals he may be giving off.
The direct way is best other wise it will just swing back around in circles.

Nope I don’t see anything unusual in that.

How to get a guys attention, who you know casually.. without seeming creepy .

There is numerous ways you could bring up riding in a conversation.
* Just ask him directly that you have herd that he rides
* On a nice sunny day just in passing say “A day like this rely gets me wanting to go out riding” and see if he responds…..
But then is there any thing ells about him that interests you that you may have in common. As you do not necessarily need to focus immanently on the riding.

Need some help with my Bike
Posted:
3/13/2009 1:04:08 PM
Typically a lead acid battery that has been fully charged and nothing connected to it will need charging every 6 months to keep it from packing up. Then giving it a full charge just before it is brought back in to use again. So it is surprising you are still having problems.
Are you leaving the charger connected to the battery when it is not charging? Micro current loads on batteries are more damaging than the one off leaving the headlight on.
You may also want to check the battery terminal voltage with the bike engine running + revving it to check that the regulator pack is operating correctly (for a 12v battery the voltage with the engen running should not go much above 14.5v) just in case the battery is being damaged by over charging in use.
Float (maintenance) charging of lead acid batteries is normally achieved at 2.2V per cell and a current limit of about 1A to avoid damaging the battery. (ie.13.2v float charge for a 12v battery) The battery should have the exact values printed on the side.
I do know if you can get Datatool battery conditioner system. These are specifically designed for permanent charging of motorcycle batteries when there not in use. These systems can be used with the battery in or out of the bike. A wiring loom is provided with a quick connect for instillation on to the bike.
Alternatively I use a solar panel combined with a charge regulator as my garage dose not have mains electricity. I have also fitted a breakaway connector so that I can leave the battery institute on the bike, and if I happen to forget to disconnect it when moving the bike the connector just pops apart. I use the same set up on my car as well. Haven’t had a flat battery since.

whats in the trunk of your car??
Posted:

I haven’t yet seen a kitchen sink that is suitable for the boot of my car.
My car tends to be more of a heavily used rolling tool kit. It is only the high value items that I remove. I did try keeping it empty but in the end I spent more time driving back and forth picking up and dropping off stuff. Seriously contemplating getting a van.

How are we supposed to be imaginative when you put nothing in your profile?
Posted:

I have found the same with profiles that give little or nothing to go with. In fact I fined that is a lot harder to try and come up with anything to say.
I do wonder if some people think that all they have to do is signup and your Knight or Princess is magically going to appear the next day.
Your profile listing an advertisement and you have to do a bit to market your self.

Improper English and/or Grammar?
Posted:
10/23/2008 2:23:01 PM
Text talk is something I can not stand as I find it makes it more difficult to understand what people are saying.
As for spelling and grammar being that I am also dyslexic I can also understand that spelling and grammar may not necessarily reflect the person. It can be very frustrating when word presents you a list of possible spellings for what you have misspelt when everything on the list looks the same. So you end up retyping what you are trying to say so that you can use a different word you can spell which in the process can mess the grammar up.
It would be to easy to write somebody off for spelling and grammar and completely missing how much effort it has taken to try and put across what they have to say.
To give you an idea, what I have just typed above has taken 28 minutes and there are a lot more people out there that are affected by dyslexia far more than my self.

why to date a geek?
Posted:

Think my geekyness has gone bipolar with the variety of interests which ranges from technological obsession to getting hands on delivering a breached calf.
I would have to say that thinking is probably the biggest problem with trying to weigh up every possibility that in all probably is not going to happen, and while you have been busy doing that the world has moved on and you are left kicking self. Enough with the theorising and going back over everything as the world will still continue to pass on by….

Central Heating and GAS
Posted:
10/23/2008 1:17:24 PM
You can get heating thermostat that programmed to adjust it self automatically across the day for each day of the week.
Complicated descriptive bit:
I fitted one of these for a friend of mine that has oil fired heating and carefully set it so at night during week days when they are in bed it sets it self to 14C. Half an hour before they get up on a week day it adjusts automatically to 19C and when they leave for work it sets it self back to 14C. Half an hour before they get home it sets it self back to 19C. Then at there normal bed time it returns back to 14C and the cycle begins again.
For the week end I have set it to reflect that there at home more then so the heating is at 19C through the day for longer.
So basically:
The over all effect is that they are now using about a third of the heating oil that they were using before I fitted this thermostat.
It is pretty much set and forget as it takes care of it’s self.
There is a manual override that automatically reverts back to the program at the next time setting should you forget to switch off the override.
Also where they live is quite exposed and they have had problems with pipes freezing but since the heating is never switched off now and combined with this new thermostat no pipes have frozen.

Would you date a guy or girl who didn't drink?
Posted:

With me drinking alcohol is a take or leave it sort of thing. I tend to find that if I drink anything more than two pints alcohol suddenly starts to taste foul.
The only thing I don’t like is when people drink past the point of being slightly merry and end up drinking to excess.

Low subscription levels combined with pour geographical coverage
Using profiles from other dating sites playing them off as being on there own site
Displaying old inactive profiles in searches

The Holding up a Beer/Cheers Photos....
Posted:
7/26/2008 6:50:25 PM
A drink on a table with a meal is not out of place in a photo.
Drinks being swilled around in bar or a can of larger in hand I do see as being out of place in a profile photo. The same go’s for a cigarette in hand.
But then again how we view what is a healthy repetition of a person is an individual perception

There is no reason for you to be offended. As you have already commented, you had updated your profile. He probably did not think check it before making contact as things do change with time.
In the past I have accidently clicked on the IM thing but did apologise to the person.

People who just write how are you
Posted:

If a person has taken the time in completing there profile and providing information that is the bases of starting a conversation. I would have to say that it is a bit impolite just to email to say “How are you” and nothing else. It would suggest the person just has not taken the time to read your profile.

If someone emails you with misspelled words and bad grammar, do you respond?
Posted:
7/26/2008 5:14:17 PM
For me I can not abide text type as it causes me great difficulty interpreting it. Also I would not reply to any one that has the look of a Nigerian scam.
Spelling is not something I can criticise on simply because for some people this can present a challenge which in no way is detrimental to the individual as a person. In fact it can show a level of courage.
Even using Word to spell check what you have written is not completely reliable, as it can be very difficult to select the correct spelling from a list of words that appear to look the same.
What is important is that a person contacting me shows that they actually have taken the time to have read my profile first.
Given that it makes it more challenging to my self. I always take the time to read persons profile and write an individual message to the person. Also given the choice of having to compromise what it is I am trying to say or a few spelling mistakes. I prefer to accept that there may be a mistake or two, but the context is usually robust enough to be intelligible and more importantly remain in my own words.

I would also be great full if you let me know if I have made any typos. Even though I have used a spell checker, being dyslexic I can end up picking the wrong word from the list the spell checker gives me.
Thanks.

brighton meet Sept 16th
Posted:
8/17/2006 4:15:25 PM
Hi London Calling
This is going to be the first time that I have attended one of these events and I too can be quite shy. From my experience the only way to over come being shy it to go out and put your self in to the satiations you find difficult. More often than not the anticipation and the unknown is the most difficult bit. It is best to treat it as trying something new, relaxing and enjoying the evening. The King and Queen is one of the largest pubs in Brighton that is frequented by lots of residents and visitors to Brighton and it is located in a public area of Brighton. The atmosphere there is generally pretty relaxed. If you should feel that you would want to move on from there then there are plenty of other pubs / clubs to go to. Have you considered bring a friend along with you as this can make it easer than going it alone. I hope this is of help to you.
