Lilly Allen
Posted: 4/29/2009 6:19:57 AM
I like Lily Allen, her songs are funny and always make me laugh.
Can we stop beating up the singer, isn't this blog about the song?????

I agree with the Kat, the song is about a lack of oral fulfillment from a boyfriend who insists he gets loads....

Money money money!.....or the lack of it.
Posted: 4/22/2009 2:10:35 PM
The recession has affected my salary slightly in the form of the commission we receive. We aren't getting the commission as sales are down slightly on last year....but I decided to cut back on a few things to combat the shortfall in salary.

1. I looked at my outgoings and negotiated with my suppliers.
I shopped around and found a cheaper telephone and Broadband supplier with satellite TV thrown in (my TV and phone packages were previously seperate), the whole package has saved me £35 per month.

2. Same with utilities - you can play one off against the other and get a fairer deal.

3. Packed lunches can save you approx £15 a week

4. I also use the shopping comparison websites to price up my weekly shop and change the place I shop as there are alot of bargains to be made.

5. I agree ebay is a great money saving option for just about anything you need.

What wierd and wonderful foods do you remember having when you were a kid?
Posted: 4/13/2009 4:57:31 PM
I recall various sandwich fillings aswell while reading this post
Sugar
lemon curd
cheese and onion crisps
spam........ewwwww!
ketchup
dripping with salt......I hated it

Mum used to mash up tinned mackerel in tomato sauce and grill it on toast...fabulous!
I loved bubble and squeak
Braised heart
whelks and winkles
I recall during a recession much like this one in the 70's when money was tight we would be given cheap and cheerful meals.
cheese and potato pie.
stuffing and potato cakes or rissoles.
Corned beef hash.
stews that would last all week, with something new being added to it everyday, it would start off as a chicken stew and end the week as a sausage casserole or something similar......full of pearl barley and lots of mixed veg

worst films
Posted: 4/9/2009 6:17:15 AM
Isn't personal taste a wonderful thing! I do not agree with some of the films put forward by earlier posters.
Taken - for me was fast paced and violent and showed Liam Neeson in a whole new light. I enjoyed it.
Goodfellas - excellant film.

Films I really hated.

Ace Ventura - Pet Detective......NO!

Starship Troopers 2 and 3 (The first one I love)

Waterworld/The Postman/Dances with wolves......okay lets just say anything with Costner in.

The Rock - Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage. Argggh!

Blind Fury/Wanted - dead or alive - Rutger Hauer at his worst and Im in love with the man

Judge Dredd

Aliens 3

RIP Natasha Richardson
Posted: 3/19/2009 8:19:27 AM
A full medical check up prior to going skiing wouldn't have avoided what happened on Monday.
She fell and knocked her head, it wasn't seen at the time as being serious, only an hour later did the symtoms appear. She fell into the coma as a consequence of the fall, a knock to the head does not have to be monumental to cause brain trauma. And from all the news reports I have read since her fall, this certainly seems to have been the case.

I think it is a real tragedy, she was a lovely and accomplished actress who leaves a young family behind. My thoughts and condolences go out to them.

TOP GEAR programme is reckless.
Posted: 4/8/2008 3:40:31 PM
I love Top Gear and often watch "DAVE" as you are guaranteed all the re-runs on there.

Jeremy, Hamster and Captain Slow are a winning combination in my books and myself and my 19 yr old son never miss it. We both sit there laughing at the antics and banter between the three.

Where else would you see Car's used as darts or Car football?

Sweeney Todd
I saw this 2 weeks ago and loved it, made me laugh all the more as my friend kept wincing at the way the people were dispatched..........she hated them landing on the cellar floor!
Johnny Depp was at his best, dark larger than life character with terrible teeth
Helena Bonham Carter again played what only she can play - herself.

I thought they both handled the songs very well, and thought it so good, I will make sure to watch it again when its released to the small screen!
5 *****

Bank Job
Out this friday and I will be going to see it on Saturday
Looks promising and it has Jason Statham, will keep you informed!

Prince Harry secretly fighting in Afghanistan
Posted: 2/28/2008 9:32:11 AM
I am sure that Prince Harry would stand up and refute that he is treated any differently from any other officer serving in the British Army. But as he is a Royal and so far removed from the "norm" to even realise what the "norm" is.... I would put money on the fact that he does receive preferential treatment, especially as he is 3rd in line for the throne!
My friends son is serving in the same regiment as Prince Harry (Blues and Royals), and they don't see him as much as the other officers. He is currently serving in Afghanistan, they went over there earlier this month, so I am sure he is there in some sort of capacity.......but what I have no idea!

I live near Twickenham and I felt a tremor last night around just before midnight.
It lasted no more than 5 or 6 seconds, but lying in bed I wasnt sure it was a waking dream or not, having heard from people at work that they felt it too, I now know it was real. It was a very wierd feeling and one I would rather not repeat.

Different types of jewels
Posted: 2/12/2008 6:29:04 AM
I tend to wear silver jewellery with semi precious stones, I have Amber, malochite and Labrocite (smoky greeny/blue) pieces I tend to wear for everyday office wear as they are small and tasteful. Necklaces and matching earrings.

For going out and special occasions I have some beautiful Tourquise full set pieces in Silver and also some really expensive BOHO jewellery (long and busy necklaces).

Most of my jewellery is costume jewellery and I have 4 boxes full of the stuff.

I don't like yellow gold at all, prefer the silver. White Gold would be nice in ring, if anyone is offering!!!

I only have 1 watch and its worth alot of money - but I hardly ever wear it as Im not really a watch person....

Does my jewellery say anything about my personality - I think so, colourful, fun and quirky

Real Ales!
Posted: 2/8/2008 3:10:44 PM
I admit to being a real ale drinker and even have a few books on the best pubs to go to in the UK...saddo

My favourite is called Summer Lightning (they also have a good winter Lightning) which is very popular and always runs out whereever Ive been.
I also like Timothy Taylors Landlord and Hogs Back T.E.A.

Ive been to a few real ale festivals (usually in The Cotswolds).

I like to try the Micro breweries offerings wherever I am. My local is Twickenham Breweries and they have a good light ale called "Naked Ladies"

There you go - and Im not a bloke......

Whats fair when it comes to your children paying for their keep
Posted: 2/5/2008 5:53:21 AM
When I lived with my parents it was considered by everyone I knew to pay 1/3rd of our wages/salary to help with bills. This did help me to stand on my own two feet when I moved out at 18.

My son however, (hmmmmm) while agreeing in principal to paying between 1/4 and 1/3 of his salary for his upkeep, always seems to have some crisis that makes it impossible for him to pay the correct amount, its always light!!!!
He has the run of the house, eats like a horse, drains the National grid and the water supply for FIGI every day. But! we love em!!!! grrrrrr

I've also met quite a few celebs.....

David Bowie - on a London street and asked for his autograph 20 yrs ago
Terry Scott and June Whitfield - I was in a band that opened for them once.
The Professional - Bodie and Doyle - Same as above.
Noel Edmunds - same as above.
Chris Tarrant - he literally ran into me on the Underground with his "then" Mrs, was very polite and apologetic.
UB40 - met them back stage when they supported Bowie EONS ago.
David Essex - he lived in Surbiton in the next road and jogged by our house every day.
Ted Heath - he came to our town when he was elected, my dad was a councillor, so lucky me (not) he got to pat me on the head like a dog..........

Best ever film or television trailer(s)
Posted: 1/16/2008 5:59:20 AM
I would have to agree with Drewbacca about Cloverfield.

Ive been waiting for this for about 6 months since I saw a trailer - they didnt even have a name for the film back then, the handycam footage and sounds of the "monster" have had my friends and I discussing this at length and its not even out yet, so this has to be one cleverly marketed film....

Blood groups
Posted: 1/15/2008 5:49:34 AM
I am A Negative.

I had to have the injection after my son was born - he was A+ This was incase I had any further children, The A+ blood group being stronger has to be neutralised in an A- mother.

I also had an 15 hour blood transfusion after my sons birth - the reason it took so long was due to the time it takes to collate that amount of blood for A- blood groups. They had to intersperse the blood with saline solution to keep the veins open.

Police Inspector Case
Posted: 1/14/2008 7:40:37 AM
This was not a suspect in Police custody - He had been charged and was awaiting trial since last June/July.
The trail was due to start in May.
He was released on £200,000 bail, even though he was charged and standing trial for his wife's murder he had been released as his lawyers had fought to have him released due to his position in the Police force, it was felt he would suffer at the hands of the prison system and was therefore released, with conditions -
- We was not to contact the Mother-in-Law (He murdered her on Saturday morning)
- We was to return his gun license (Guess how he killed his mother-in-law)

Police Inspector Case
Posted: 1/14/2008 5:57:23 AM
I believe an MP is looking into the release of the Inspector and the judicial system that allows someone with a gun to be released in order to make good his threats to the mother of the woman he is accused of murdering.

This just highlights the very real inadequacies and dangers we are subjected too due to the "mismanagement" law system.

Police Inspector Case
Posted: 1/14/2008 5:40:23 AM
I was reading the news today and learnt about the Police Inspector that killed his Mother-in-law at the weekend before shooting himself, not only this but he had been released on bail pending a murder trial into his wifes murder in January 2007.

Now this story affects me on a personal level as well as a public interest level as I know people attached to this case.

My question is this.
Why was this Police Inspector released on bail when he was facing the commencement of his Ex wifes murder trial in May this year?

The official line is that he would have suffered inside had he been made to wait on remand for his trial to start.

He also had a gun licence and had made threats to the mother-in-law prior to his release and yet is seems because of his role in the MET he was not deemed a threat and released.

A murder suspect is a murder suspect regardless of status and should be kept away from the public while awaiting trial...........or is this just a whimsy of mine!

Boredom, a killer in the UK Forum?
Posted: 8/9/2006 2:36:33 PM
2soxx

I was reading and participating in alot of the threads a while back and yes we had some very controversial ones, but we also had some very controversial posters back then who are either bored of the Forums at the moment or have moved on to pastures new, or just on holiday.....
I also used to enjoy the political threads etc..... but we had Garyzac and gentlemanX going at each other along with you and others.

It takes a little time for the new posters to get used to one another, but i am sure, as GG said the postings have peaks and troughs and it could merely be the summer holidays keeping the anarchists amongst us away and in the sunshine.......

Drop everything, even work, to come to your aid in a crisis.
Get up and offer a friendly ear at 3am in the morning.
Come round when you are ill, with medicines and food parcels.
Stay with you on the phone when you hear a strange noise in the night.
Cover for you with work/parents/dates.

Do You Do Drugs? No
Posted: 7/27/2006 2:42:08 PM
Personally, I wouldnt date anyone who lied about taking drugs on their profile.

I dont need them in my life, so I wouldnt want to date a guy who had a drug habit.

I lost a very good friend 10 years ago to Heroin, he went from a bubbly, fun loving healthy person, to a jittery, thin, paranoid shadow of himself. He had to leave his job and took up thieving to feed his habit. Nothing any of his friends and family did got through to him and his need for cash for the heroin led to his untimely death, running from the police across a train line, he was electrocuted on the tracks and died instantly.

I remember my dad wearing "Brut" and "Old spice".

when we girls used to go out clubbing (all those years ago) the men used to smell lovely and used to make my knees go weak, they wore "Aramis", "Kouros", and "Paco Rabanne", I now like the smell of "Cool Water" and "Paul Smith"

Ive always suited a heavy perfume, the likes of Hugo Boss "Deep Red" or "poison"......love "Eden" nice and woody smell and a recent addition was Kenzo's "Summer"

Sexy Accents...
Posted: 7/22/2006 3:35:27 AM
I used to date a guy from New York and his deep American accent was delicious.

On home ground I like a soft Scottish (not Glaswegian) and soft Irish (Not Belfast) accent.

Someone I know at the moment has a cultured Yorkshire accent and thats pretty hot.

Ive a cross between posh London and posh midlands accent (if there is such a thing) lol.

But Id have to agree that if the person is sexy then so is their accent.........

I look for a pic for starters, then something witty in the profile to show he has a sense of humour, and like alot of the other women on this thread, a definate pull for me is a guy that is not afraid to show his feelings.

and the big one...............HONESTY.......how many times have you spoken to someone to discover they are married or attached and just want to fool around or flirt.

If and when I find a partner, ha ha! POF will have served its purpose, not to find me a partner, as I feel it unlikely that i will find that person on here, but for the many hours of fun I have had reading and posting on the forums.
As a single woman, often without a date or anything to do of an evening POF has been a great place to spend some time.
